Seems like they are determined to string this one out for as long as they can.Bank charges appeal is thrown out
An appeal by eight banks, against a High Court ruling that a regulator can investigate the fairness of overdraft charges, has been thrown out.
The Appeal Court ruled that the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) does have the power to investigate the issue of bank charges.
The banks will ask the House of Lords for permission to appeal further, against the appeal judges' advice.
Tens of thousands of claims currently on hold in the legal system will stay frozen.poppy100 -

Yes you can0 -
If that means that there is certainty in law then I back the banks' on their right to appeal. I don't back them WITH the appeal. Remember, the longer they go the more interest they will pay back on stayed claimsBBC News, 26th February 2009Seems like they are determined to string this one out for as long as they can.
I would say a WIN WIN situation.0 -
Any help and advice ?
In the last 6 years at times I have been charged many monthly charges, in one recent month was charged over £200 !!!
anyway I have about £4000 of debt mainly in an overdraft of £2100 !
Have considered applying for refund of bank charges but am concerned that in doing so the bank will then ask for the overdraft to be cleared and not in a positon ! I am working at the mo but once all bills etc have come out I am lucky if I am still within the limit and not being charged !
what should I do ?
TIA0 -

Was your claim stayed at court or by the bank before your account was closed? Is it or was it the only account you had?princessrachel1 wrote: »i rang my bank up about a reclaim i had put on hold in july 07, which since the account has been closed by them, i told them about the financial hardship and that i concdered to qualify and they told me they cant do anything for me and to contach CAB what should i do??0 -

You can claim and the bank shouldn't ask for the account to be closed(they can't under the FSA Waiver).0 -
Can anyone help with this, I contacted my bank with regards to claiming back bank charges due to the fact I am in financial hardship, I was informed that I would need to send a letter and £10.00 to them. Is this correct, I don't have a spare £10.00 to be able to do this.
Thanks
