Can any1 help me as I am on benefits and my building society keeps charging for unpaid dd's I have read somewhere on here that if you rely on benefits then you cannot be charged as the Government gives you enough to just live off.
Can some1 please enlighten me as to if this is true and if so where can I get a template letter from asking for the charges from.
Thanks0 -

I am afraid that this premise is wrong. THe bank/building society can charge you even if it is benefit money. It was an old myth of the first part of the charges campaign.0 -
Hi,
Im new to this and was wondering if anyone can advise....might sound a bit silly...
My partner and I are due back nearly £2500 and have been patiently waiting, unfortunatly with the high cost of living we are having to take mortgage payment holidays to help us out and have gone overdrawn quite a few times in the last year..
Does anyone know if this would fit into the financial hardship catergory?0 -
My son phoned one of these 'agents' who make a claim for overcharges on your behalf, he usually lives in London but was home in Ireland working for 3 months anyway he gave my address, in Belfast, the bloke on the phone asked if he could provide an address in UK as they offer the only 5 or 10% to Northern Ireland claimants0

He is talking crap to be honest. THere is no evidence of that whatsoever. I hope you're son told him where to go.0 -
I have submitted several letters to my bank re reclaiming bank charges and have been advised that no decision can be made as yet. I feel that I am meet the criteria for financial hardship and have submitted a letter to my bank stating this.
I chased the letter up today and was offered a loan which I declined and was told that no decision can be made and the fact that I have financial hardship made no differance. Any advice???0 -
