    Hi KD

It's funny there is some really bad press today about so many NEET young people refusing to even try and look for work. Really quite scary to think that kids are growing up without even thinking about a career..

I hope your son finds his mojo and gets into college in September. My sister went to college to repeat her GCSE's as she missed them due to ill health. She did that and then moved into a local call centre job when she was doing her A Levels, and went from strength to strength moving into the IT section with few GCSE's - she ended up being quite high up :) there are ways to do things. It is amazing what motivation and the right attitude can do!!

    Good luck with studying!! xx

Wow! I haven't been here in months, I didn't realise it had been so long!

So I've finished the course that I was doing, just got to wait to be externally moderated but fingers crossed it's a pass and I will get a certificate soon, looking at doing another one too!

Still building up my savings and battering the nasty credit card. Looking forward to spending my Christmas savings and knowing that I don't have to worry about spending [STRIKE]too much[/STRIKE] any of my December pay packet, which is what normally happens :T

Since the last time I came in I have discovered that I have gall stones and I will have to have an operation to remove my gall bladder , waiting for a date at the moment, I'm hoping that it will be in the school holidays so that it doesn't interfere with work too much as there is at least a three week recovery period :(

I've had a day off today and took my OH daughters to a little sewing workshop to make sock creatures, which was lovely, afterwards we popped to £land to get some drinks and a couple of water squirters then to a nearby park to use the squirters and have a go on the swings. Fab morning, OH was at work and their Mum just having some time to herself, my suggestion as I wanted to go to the workshop but it was for kids only :rotfl:

I hope all my diary chums are keeping well, I will pop in to say hello x

Saving for Xmas 2015 #83 ~ £244.14/£365 Fantastic success, stress free Christmas definitely doing again this year :j

Pay a debt or reach a goal in 2015 Didn't quite get there but had a bloody good go at it!

    Emergency Fund #54 £83.29/£1000
Didn't get to my £1000 but dipped in and out of it where necessary so I think was reasonably successful and plan on continuing to do this until I get there :rotfl:

2015: Sell #20 £12/£1000 Yeah this was not a successful challenge for me, I'll not carry on with this one!

DFW Nerd #1155 Still stands :)
 LBM 25/2/09  Debt at highest £8,037.35 :o

    Credit Cards £1177 & £1348 :(
Getting these paid off was my reach a goal challenge it's taken a lot to get where they are and I will definitely be getting rid this year!

Right I'll come back tomorrow with some plans for the coming year and update my signature.

    Happy New Year all xxx

    Hi KD!

Good to see you - looking forward to your 2016 plan!! x

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!
  • Signature updated :)

Looking at my last real post, July  I got my certificate but didn't do another course and I had the op to remove my gallbladder in November and it wasn't in school holidays so did impact on work :( fully recovered now though :)

So fitness plans for 2016 -

    - I lost a lot of weight because of the restricted diet due to the gallbladder last year, so want to continue to build on that

    - started back to Aqua Zumba on Monday, first session since October due to gallbladder issues, brilliant fun but oh my I ached Tuesday.

    - Going to be doing the Race for Life again, already signed up for that

    - hopefully going to be doing Foam Fest too, but haven't got much info on that at the moment.

    Financial plans -

    - my car is due it's MOT on 14th April and I know from having it in the garage on 23rd December that it's not going to make it without a heck of a lot of work done, so my plan is to save £2000 by 10th April or there abouts and then bank of Mum will add £3000 so I can get a much newer car. I could probably get a finance deal as I have managed to repair my credit rating over the last couple of years due to the nasty credit card.

    - definitely going to knock the nasty credit card out of the equation this year, I had a good go at it last year but didn't make it :( so after April I will be able to chuck a good amount of dosh at it to get it done sooner rather than later :T

    - I'm doing the saving for Christmas challenge again this year as it was a real winner for me last year :D

    - also continuing with the £1000 emergency fund, I didn't get to £1000 as had to dip into it from time to time but glad it was there to be able to :rotfl:

    Other plans -

    - craft more - knit, crochet or sew! Currently crocheting a bunny for my neice's baby which is due in April.

    - post here more!

    - create a rota for making sandwiches for work, cooking the evening meal and washing up, there's 3 of us and I'm about fed up doing it all but this relies on me doing...

    - meal planning and sorting out the freezer to do so

Anyway I'll catch you again soon :)

  • Right then quick update!

Still crocheting the bunny just one arm and both legs to make, head and body already attached and face stitched on ☺

Rota made and menu planning done for next week ☺although I haven't been through the freezer I used the receipt from Friday's trip to A1di, rummaging through the freezer can be next weekend's task!

I'm glad I've made the decision to save more for the car, I have puddle in it but I can't see where the rain has got in :( and the engine management light has come on again which has happened a lot. The chap at the garage has checked it and every time it's the lamber sensor (not sure of spelling).

Made a payment to both CC's.

Monday tomorrow, so Aqua Zumba night :)

Right need to go and update my signature, catch you later ☺

  • Thought I'd updated my signature the other day, can't have saved it, doh!

Zumba went out the window on Monday, car has given up so I've transferred all money to the car fund and bank of Mum is loaning me £5k so off car shopping at the weekend, will be adding bank of Mum to my signature at the weekend!

Bunny has had no further progress due to car hunting.

Rota is sort of going OK, fingers crossed it will work better when I've got the new car and things are settled again.

Will update my signature and save this time!

    Catch you soon x

    Hi KD!

Boo to the car - but YAY to getting a new one! That's a pretty decent budget for a car so here's hoping you can get something that will last!

Have fun car shopping! Nats x

  • Thanks Nats, I did enjoy car shopping today, bought a Fiesta on a 12 plate

I've emptied out my Christmas and Emergency fund pots to add a little more to the car fund, they will be sorted out again soon though :)

I'm looking at getting a basic account that I will be able to use as a donor account to use the switching service and get some free dosh or a voucher, which ever way you look at it extra spends! I have no loyalty to my current account, but it's convenient and easy to use and I don't want to muck it up! :o

Menu planning almost done but should be finished tomorrow and aiming to get the bunny completed too, so I can start a new project :D

    Catch you all soon x
