kdalwayskint - again!

So here we are again!

It's nowhere near as bad as it was the last time, I just need to sort myself out and kick the stupid credit card into touch. That's my journey this time, I'm hoping to get rid of my cc balance by this time next year. I don't know if it's doable as I haven't crunched any numbers yet I just know it's starting to get me down.

Need to update my signature so here it is as it stands now so that I can look back to see how I'm doing.

GC Mar £97.92/£200, Feb £196/£200 ~ these are from earlier this year realising that it's not great when OH out of work before Christmas 2013 and struggling after too. Things got better and then more out of work for him again a few weeks ago.

College bus fund £54/£490 ~ I ended up putting this on the credit card and then my DS decided he wasn't going again, I haven't cancelled the bus pass as it's proved fairly useful for him being a little bit independent, although I think he's called a neet? Which I'm disappointed about but he has decided to join the army and has an interview on the 12th December, so fingers crossed for him.

DFW Nerd #1155 ~ nothing to update here, this stays the same.

LBM 25/2/09 ~ this will remain the same as things are no where near how they were at this time in my life.

Debt at highest £8,037.35 and this still remains to be my highest.

Credit Card £1143 ~ disappointingly this is higher than I'd like it too be especially as things are tight, and it's a Vanquis card so Apr is awful, initially wanted to get it to help build my credit rating but I don't have any savings since OH was out of work and had to use it for emergency car problems, it's not crazy high but it's starting to get a bit tight paying the monthly minimum :(

So I am getting prepared for January debt busting, I have started to use top cash back for any online Christmas shopping, I don't know why I didn't do it before but I've now got a nect*r card linked to my fleabay account. I shall be doing the grocery challenges and resurrecting the sealed pot for 2015. I'm hoping to get rid of my cc and sort out a saving/emergency fund.

I'll be posting my Christmas planning too, so that I can see how things are going.

Anyway, that's me for now :)

  • A NSD today :)

I've signed up to the saving for Xmas 2015 £365 to aim for the 1st December next year, I think this is doable and will help with the pressure this time of year brings.

I'm off to sort out the Christmas bits I've got so far too see who I need to get for, I think without going to look I need to buy some bottles for the adult gift hampers and buy gifts for my nieces and nephews, that doesn't seem to bad :)

  • I'm getting geared up for debt busting and saving in 2015 :T

I'd really like to get rid of the CC soon and then put what I've been paying to that into savings.

I've joined the Emergency Fund, Saving for Christmas 2015 and Sell £1000 challenges to keep motivated :j

The EF challenge is a slowly but surely one so as long as I keep adding little bits to it I will be happy.

I already try to keep a car fund going, and I used some of that the other day to get the water bottle fitted for my screen wash, but over the last few months I've had to transfer the cash into my current account just to keep afloat and try not to use the CC.

The money from the sell £1000 I shall put towards the CC. There's not a massive amount on the CC but I just want rid of it now, it's making things difficult and the money I'm paying to it could be saved :(

  • So this happened...

    2 hour journey took 7 hours:cry:

Oh no, the absolute worst has happened :(

Road trip to visit family (Wiltshire to Kent) I broke down  I didn't have any breakdown cover :( had to sign up for RAC on the roadside £140ish  lesson learnt there!

I know I don't want it, but thank God I had the CC with me.

I was nearer Kent than home so we've been recovered to my dad's, we could have been recovered back home but that would have cost another £163!

So I will be stripping my EF all £11.41 of it, my saving for next Christmas fund all £30 and the £13 left from my car fund (had a small windscreen wash repair done last week otherwise that would have been £40) and putting it all towards my CC :(

Hopefully my cousin will be able to help me sort the car the in the next few days.

    So feeling a little :eek::(:angry:

  • Oh dear... I popped over from Peatys thread to see what had happened!!

Big hugs to you, that sounds atrocious! I once again thank my lucky stars I don't have a car. I would only be encouraged to use it all the time and then it would cost me more than I earn!

Keep fighting the debt!! And trickle cash back into that emergency fund :) xx

  • Hi Lilty thanks for popping by :)

Still a bit sick about my car, I use it to get to work, I work in a school and not back until the 5th so that's something. My cousin helped me take it to a bloke he knows but upsettingly the bloke didn't want to look at it, wasted a day we could have taken it elsewhere the time it took on the phone etc we were only there about 5 minutes if that

My son and I are going to go home tomorrow, dad is going to take us, leaving my car here. I wish more that we'd paid the £160ish to get taken home, at least I could have got my usual garage to look at it and I would trust their judgement.

Dad is going to get someone to look and let me know, at the moment there's a possibility it might get scrapped :(

  • Oh no hun, that is terrible...

Surely not scrapping it!! Hope that you can get it sorted and find some form of transport fast! How far away is work? Is there a decent public transport system or someone you could carshare/buddy up with??

  • No transport link to work, but I have organised a lift.

Dad has organised someone to look but they couldn't do it until tomorrow so I will know more then.

Had a quiet NSD today :) how's your day been Lilty?

  • I too have had a quiet day. Decluttering and sorting out my bedside cabinets and boxes of toiletries and meds :)

...*cough* I may also have spent £940 on a macbook... *cough*

    So no NSD here :rotfl:

Glad you have a lift sorted! :D there is no transport link to my work either, but luckily I am only 2 miles walk away!! Fingers crossed for your dad!

  • Well good news, Dad has had my car repaired, after my cousin taking me to a total cowboy who didn't even look properly, it turns out that it was a blockage causing the overheating, so all pipes have been cleared, one replaced and new fluid added, my little Ka seems ok, just have to make the trip from Kent to Wiltshire to see how it goes, at least this trip I've got breakdown cover :D

I've only had 1 NSD so far which is a bit disappointing but me and DS have had a trip to London today. Bit of a necessity as we took a one way trip from Wiltshire by coach into London, a walk to see Big Ben and then walked to Waterloo East to catch the train to Dad's. Bought some munchies from Liddel for the journey.

    Plans for tomorrow:
    Return home with my car
Check freezer and cupboards create a meal planner for the week, possibly for two weeks
    List some bits on eb@y

From Monday I should be able to start adding cash back into my Christmas and Emergency funds. I will build up the Christmas fund by the end of March to have the cash in that I had to use for the car. The emergency fund will be a slow and steady one but I will make regular payments to it after realising how important it is to have one.

And then to tackle the dastardly CC! So I'm planning to pay extra besides the minimum, well just because I think it's sensible as I really want to get rid of it. Any money I make by selling stuff I will also be paying to the CC. I've probably got one of the worst ones and at the time I wanted it to build up my credit as I've bad history, which I must have done as now the balance is over £2500, which I'm really not happy about, but I knew it was happening so I've only got myself to blame! Just don't really know what else to do with it :(
