  • Out today 3 random portions of fish, shedloads of even chips and a portion of mushy peas. Sadly the meal I cooked for DS is still sitting on the plate in the kitchen...

I also have a 12 month leg of lamb in the freezer and it will stay there til I cook it. Any food safety site will confirm its safe to eat.

Making a pie tonight with the venison pie filling I made in my slow cooker (made from venison steak taken from freezer on Sunday) and a frozen roll of short crust pastry taken from freezer to defrost last night. Will serve with mash & probably boil some extra potato's to freeze & have with cold cuts next week.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Bagels, bread rolls, salmon fillets, chicken thighs have come out this week. 1 loaf of bread and a lemon tart have gone in.
  • I also have been faced with ancient lamb in the freezer. I know it is safe to eat, but the taste could be a bit stale, so in my case I made a huge lamb tagine out of it for a big family party, and it went down very well. The spices and fruit mask any freezer burn and dryness, and it is thoroughly cooked and perfectly safe.
  • Also, a very OS type family is coming round next week for carol singing and recorder/violin playing, and I am offering a pre-Christmas Austerity Supper of all the sausages that have found their way into the freezer, left over from Bonfire Night, plus frozen bacon and freshly fried eggs for gluten sensitive members. Lots of allotment veg from freezer, and allotment frozen fruit crumbles. The plan is to eat simple food quickly and sepnd the rest of the evening on festive music.

And of course to lower the level in the freezer (chest type) by inviting very good eaters.

Eat it - but treat it gently and cook low and slow, even slow-cooker if it will fit, and maybe some flavourings like garlic/rosemary if you like them.

    Today - out
some smoked haddock for DH dinner
    chilli for my dinner

    in
11 portions of fresh salmon (couldn't resist at £12) :rotfl:
