Struggled to fit in yesterday's bits so took a joint of beef out - ys from £12 to £3.
I will cook it/slice then freeze in meal amounts - small bags of meat will take up less space.

  • Make a bread pudding with your frozen crusts. Plenty of recipes on the web. A fantastic eat and keeps really well. Not particularly good for the diet.

I've just had a sort out of my freezer and found a gammon joint. The use by date was June and it says on pack if frozen it should be used within one month. Obviously its way past that! Do you think it will be ok to use?
    Yes - no problem.

Hiya Florenceem - nice to see you on here :hello:

    Out of freezers today :
End of ham - made ham & leeks in cheese sauce for dinner
2 x packs cooked, chopped onions and peppers and 800 gms of pan-cooked beef mince to make slow-cooker chilli (now cooking).

Well - feel quite pleased as have today emptied both freezers, defrosted and refilled. I also did a sort and inventory so know exactly what I have and can meal-plan to use up :j That will be tomorrow or Thursday.

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

I went into our local coop and was filling up my basket with reduced bread, £1.50 down to 22p. Lots of variety. One of the workers asked me what I would do with all the bread. I said I would freeze it. She looked at me and said it comes in frozen and then we bake it in store so its dangerous to refreeze. I explained it was perfectly safe. I'm not sure she believed me.
Anyway freezers are bulging again loads of nice bread for less than £2.

I'm trying to do this too over the last few months to save money but I've somehow filled them up again! I can't help myself with the yellow sticker meet at the supermarkets! I don't think I have paid full price for meat in years! Unfortunatly i have just done a stock take and found 18 chicken breasts ( i live on my own so this will take me awhile to get through!), for some reason I have been on a red meat drive recently so have no mince left! Gulp.

I also make my own chicken stock so have chicken carcasses and a big bag of veg peels/off cuts of veg taking up a couple of draws!

hmmm I am def eating freezer meals over the next couple of weeks!

My freezers are rammed full, only just managed to get a few things from my shopping in today. Not planning on buying much more that will need to be frozen, and meat/fish/bread will be coming out slowly for our meals. Won't really see much difference in space until 20 December when I will be defrosting a massive gammon and joint of pork.

Hehehe. It'll be my first attempt. I watched a video on youtube of one of Jamie Oliver's Foodtubers doing it (Kerry someone I think) and have wanted to try it ever since.

I'll let you know how I get on with it.
