Ha ha, and I thought my 117K miles was a bit bad.
Although I do drive 60 miles a day, so it's quickly increasing.

Wife now has a 2l petrol auto Mk3 (so sadly Duratec) on 148k and going strong. After a recent wheel bearing, driveshaft bearing, and rear shocks it's driving very nicely too - much better than you'd expect from 16 years and those miles.

Not a huge Ford fan but have to hand it to them with this one.
I don't think I'll get anything other than another VAG car now. Best made car I've owned has been my Golf. Having said that, I'd have a Ford all day long other a comparable brand such as Vauxhall. Much better built from experience! I had a Mk3 Fiesta on an M plate with average mileage. She was fantastic and never let me down. The OHV lump was bullet proof too....Bit archaic by today's standard, but did the job....had the good old 'Ford' heated front windscreen which worked, too!

I worked with a guy who had a 2l petrol Renault espace, had done 340k, with a lot of caravan towing. It had started to smoke a bit going round corners so he decided to have the engine rebuilt. Thought it was a good idea to have the clutch replaced while the engine was out, still on the original clutch apparently. Interesting thing was the engine was a wet liner build so he just had new liners and pistons put in and put back together again. Still going strong last I heard.

If that really was the original clutch, that's very good going for standard use, let alone if it was used for towing!
