SilverSaloon, how are Merc parts priced for servicing compared to VW ? A lot more expensive?0 -
My van and our car are both around 100k now, but the highest mileage motor I've had was a citroen zx, had 320k on the clock when I got rid of it and it was still running fine then, I think I contributed about 70,000 of the 320k0

1999 P38 Range Rover 4.6 -sold with 150 000 miles on the clock and still going well. I put around 110K on myself as bought under 50K miles.
Currently own a VW Caravelle 2.5TDi just on 300 000 miles and feels great with gutsy performance still.
BMW X5 4.8is just on 100K, owned since 20k miles
Audi S8 2001, owned since 2004 on 40k, now on 150k miles, still feels the same.
No intention of getting rid of the three above we still have in the family, the big petrols may use a bit more fuel, but performance is excellent and they owe us nothing. We aim to use them till they can no longer be economically viably repaired........0 -
102,000 miles on my Mercdes 2.3 petrol, hoping to double that I over the next 4 years. It's low mileage as it's a2001.:)0

Hi
I have had 2 passats both have done over 300,000.Engine is like clockwork Pump Deuse change the oil every 5/6000 miles cambelt and water pump 50/60000 miles.Only problems burst turbo hose,N75 valves and a new radiator:)0 -
BMW E34 525 - sold with 182,000 on the clock (quite low mileage, considering...)
BMW E34 520 - sold with 251,000 on the clock
Current : Merc C250TD - 201,000 at the moment, but rising rapidly.
All are/were original, unopened (not even for a HG) engines. The two E34's are now in the great scrapyard in the sky, but the C250's still trundling along happily.
Regular servicing is the key - especially as the miles rack up. Personally, I always use fully-synthetic oil and change it, and the filter, twice as often as the manufacturer recommends. I normally only use OE oil and fuel filters, too.PLEASE NOTE:

Not as much as that one, but this Mercedes on eBay has done 622,000 miles.

That E220 is about 80,000miles per year.
Must have been used by the day shift, the night shift and the inbetween shift.0
