My 2002 VW Bora has just ticked over 205,000 miles. Thankfully all going ok.... hopefully stays that way!! It will probably be due a timing belt change next summer (been 4 years since I bought it and I have stuck 50,000 miles on it).

Absolutely no point in selling it, so I plan to do the annual services as normal and see how far it can go!

Anyway, can any of you beat my 205,000 ?

  • I'm about 2k miles shy of 200k on my Audi A3 2.0 TDI. If I were you I would probably change the oil every 6k miles or 6 months considering the engine has high miles. Use fully synthetic VW 505 00 oil only.

For my last oil change earlier this year I used Castrol Edge 5w30 VW 507 00 spec. This time I bought the Fuchs GT1 XTL 5W40, VW 505 01 spec oil. Planning on changing the oil next week. I hope to run my car for as long as I can

I know a guy who once had a Saab 900; it went past 250k miles when he had it, and at least 100k of those were his. :)

  • This chap claims to have done 1m miles http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2159100/Taxi-driver-Brian-Holmes-clocks-1m-miles-16-year-old-Ford.html

My fathers Ford Sierra Sapphire had 60,000 miles on the clock but in reality it was massively more as it had gone round the clock twice and had the odometer/speedo had been disconnected for a time. Unfortunately dont know what the clock went up to, it had 5 digits but have been told it wouldnt have been 99,999

When trading it in the guy read it and said 60,000 miles? thats high for its age. Thankfully he didnt pick up on the fact it had gone round the clock twice and was a false reading anyway

Highest I had was 140k miles on a 1992 dodge, but that was a banger when I got it. These days I do so few miles it'll take me another 20 years to reach that.

I genuinely don't get it, you've already told us that you made up the A3, so why are you going into such detail about it, including oils?

Surely your Corolla is on a pretty high mileage by now anyway?

I do have one. I am willing to prove it with the custard or whatever else you wish and wherever you want me to place it in or out the vehicle.
