Thanks, we don't often fly from them as their prices from Glasgow really make US Airways the only option for us. .

i might be jumping the gun(i often do sometimes) but my brother and i flew direct to vegas with thomas cook(with hotel and resort fees included) last july and i think they have dates from early may to july this year too as well as braehead travel.
I have read soemwhere virgin atlantic are also doing direct flights from glasgow from august to october(it was 2-3months if i recall)

I hope i have not waived my way in,in a private discusion(sorry if i have) i think you were maybe discussing points but i hope you dont kind my syaing about the direct flights from glasow which i have said above.

    Ok thanx for sharing!
i hope i did not offend anyone but I ASSUMED it was $1 a round and not $1 per drink and that was standard !(though not fair!)
I was maybe only speaking from my own exeperince(my first time in vegas it has to be said )

my own experince was from my brother and my trip last july and we got drinks for 2 of us.
Again i hope i have not offended anyone whom has posted on my comments and i will bare in mind what everyone has said when we make our second trip in june(109 days and counting !)
No offence taken. They aren't going to say the tip wasn't enough, but you may find that you don't get another drink for a long time if you only tip $1/round. The cocktail waitresses get taxed on their tips, and every drink they serve is counted.

I drink Corona, often $8/bottle at a bar plus the tip. It's well worth $1 each dink to get that kind of discount AND not have to go and fetch it.

I always remember reading on the cocktail waitress site, that the drinks are free, her service is not.
We also tip a dollar per drink which ever casino we are in,but the frequency of the waitress returning to us,to ask if we would like another drink varies massively from casino to casino....sometimes they don't come around and ask us at all:(
Maybe we don't play long enough.:rotfl:

Not a private discussion at all, don't worry! :) You are totally right, there is also the Thomas Cook and limited period of Virgin flights. Both are direct, however not daily and we don't tend to go for exactly on week or two. Thomas Cook fly on a Monday (back in on a Tuesday) so for a 2 week holiday it's extra couple of days off work. Thomas Cook prices were a bit high for our dates too. It's good to have the other option there though, who knows maybe they will have competitive prices at some stage and it will be a good option.

    Dont worry about it

I often play cards and my wife might sit next to me and not play, I will often get a drink for us both and tip $1 for the round , more often than not she is back offering another before we have finished (in Harrahs and Flamingo)

This is one of the reasons I almost never order drinks - I move around a lot, sometimes just a few machines down or over, but I don't like to feel that I am stuck (it has cost me before as I am incapable of sitting at slot machine and not play it)...it can depend on where you are sitting within one casino - some areas in some casinos have a much more frequent circuit for the waitresses. It can pay to keep an eye out if the waitress is around often. At Cosmo my hubby never saw a waitress in one area and then moved to another, and could barely keep up with the drinks that started coming then. So for those who are really keen on a drink or three, surveying the scene may be worthwhile.

I also think it's worth remembering that if she's dropping off, she is probably not taking orders...she'll make her drop-off round and then circle back to take the next set of orders. I have seen people get huffy with a waitress when they try to flag her down to order when she's on a drop off round. Sometimes when it's quiet I have seen them do both at the same time, but mostly they are either taking orders or delivering orders. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

No worries, I, like alot of people on this site would like to try help (and save money too !)

For our holiday (in june) we were gonna use thomas cook again, we got a quote and ame home to think about it(and were gonna book it the next day or so) and well my sister knows somone at mykinda travel who was told what we wanted and he beat it by £200.(luckily for us we are flying locally, from edinburgh to new york before flying to vegas)

Im sure if you said to thomas cook a rival has beaten the quote they have given you then hopefully(fingers and toes crossed) they d match it.I know how hard it is to get direct flights to the usa from scotland !!
    best of luck

Just wondering how long is best/average?

At first I was thinking 4 nights - Monday to Thursday to avoid weekend prices.

Then I'm thinking is 4 nights too much for Vegas considering you see one Casino you seen them all, if that makes sense. Was thinking 3 nights.

Since I am not a Sun person, any ideas what dates/month to avoid?
