  • Thanks Ferf, I am going April/May and the room prices shoot up from May 1. I did try to see if there were any major conventions on that week, but couldn’t see any.

:pWe always have some part of our vegas stay at the orleans.
It now feels like "home" when we are there.Good prices, great breakfast buffet, wifi now included in room and affordable gambling.
To be fair it is a bit dated now,but always clean. We often think, should we give the orleans a miss this next trip, but always include it.It wouldn't seem like vegas without a stay there now:p
Not sure they will let you take your luggage on board the shuttle, there is only seats for about 24 people, and nowhere to put luggage that I have ever noticed.
We love the Orleans and would recommend it as a cheaper stay, though we would always stay there first, then move to a strip hotel after.Only downside is the ever increasing resort fee...up to $12.99 now, which I suppose is still cheap compared to strip hotels.

sounds likely...it does look like hotel rates are nuts that weekend, but not the week after - based on a very quick look...they don't seem to be crazy across the board the following week, anyway...some hotels are more expensive than usual, but others aren't really.

Cosmo is now $30 and I just read that they've started charging it on comped rooms which they never used to. I'm still quite happy with $30 night for those rooms, sure...but it's just gotten silly. At least you can have multiple devices on the wifi - for our stay at Bally's next month I will find it difficult not to make a fuss about it if it's still limited to once device. I could even understand limiting it to 2, but one is just dumb.

Mayweather v Paquio is pretty close to a done deal. Hence the high prices. Also Cinco de Mayo is a pretty big deal for Vegas too.

We like Orleans, usually spend a few days there each trip. A plus with the WiFi is that it's for more than one device, which is a definite bonus. A lot of the resort fees only include WiFi for one device.

I have seen hand luggage sized bags on the shuttles several times, no problems there, especially if they tipped the driver and tell him they were going to check in. Bigger bags, probably not.

hi all, I am looking to start booking a few bits of entertainment,ie mat goss, absinthe, raiding the rock vault, as I like to book and pay early and not use my spends when i'm out there, my question is are there any booking websites you good people would recommend,or more importantly is there any I should avoid.

there are links on the first page to some sites that compile offers available for shows that are worth looking at. Raiding the Rock Vault is regularly on Living Social (downside is you have to redeem the voucher at the box office so won't know for sure if they have availability for your date until you get there).

If there are no offers for a show we want to see we will always book direct with the venue online, whether they use ticketmaster or have their own dedicated booking system.

  • I've never seen anyone with luggage on the Orleans shuttle, but that's not to say you can't do it. It might depend how busy it is, after all if the bus is full they will want to take as many people as possible rather than taking up space with luggage. Don't know where you are staying right before (can't remember if you said), but perhaps just get a cab. Orleans shuttle is from Bally's I think now? If you're around there or further south it should only be $10-$15 for a cab. Plus it will take you right to the entrance where check in is, which is not where the bus will drop you at The Orleans. Will be easier I think.

As for May, we're booked for May but a little later. We come in on 12th, driving over from San Diego. We managed to get MyVegas bonus comp weeknights at the beginning of our stay for Luxor, so there must be more reasonable prices around the 12th-15th but then that weekend gets a bit rediculous because of Rock in Rio on 15-16, but it's also on 8&9th May which will be pushing the prices up around then I reckon.

We always tip $1 a drink, not $1 per round. That seems fairer to us.

    Ok thanx for sharing!
i hope i did not offend anyone but I ASSUMED it was $1 a round and not $1 per drink and that was standard !(though not fair!)
I was maybe only speaking from my own exeperince(my first time in vegas it has to be said )

my own experince was from my brother and my trip last july and we got drinks for 2 of us.
Again i hope i have not offended anyone whom has posted on my comments and i will bare in mind what everyone has said when we make our second trip in june(109 days and counting !)
