The rain here in Keswick today really makes me wish we were in Vegas right now.:(
Looking at the news this morning it seems Carlisle is in a bit of a mess, hope you didn't suffer too badly.
You, and others based NW might be interested in knowing, if you don't already, that Stobart Air, who own the airport (and Southend) have been successful in getting cash from the govt connectivity fund. That's gonna allow them to put on flights to a number of destinations but the interesting one will be Dublin. Could be as early as summer 16 but I think it'll be later.
looks like there will be a tie up with Aer Lingus to provide access to the US.0 -
hi
and thanks for all the feedback!
John259- thanks for the idea on Motel 6 but i guess like alot of people my brother and I try for one of the strip hotles and i think we have made the mgm our *home * for our vegas trips, though IF we got offered comp'd for a week at other hotels we d maybe consider it.thanks for the feedback though!
Seldom Seen Kid- I can see what your saying with regards booking the MGM Signature it does look good! I guess as i have said above i think my brother and i have made the mgm our home in vegas, but thanks for the feedback!
HotPotato- thank you very much for your detailed feedback in regards casino hosts, comps and the pit boss!I think like alot of people (certainly for us) is we set ourselfs limits for the gambiling .For us i cant see us having much luck with blackjack and playing $50 a hand as it is way out of our price range and even doing it on *average* we d get nowhere near.We tend to buy in for $40-$50 usually on roulette(low limits $1 chips) and sometimes that goes within 20mins sometimes lucks with us and it lasts longer, last year i went to the $100 roulette table putting down a 100 and lost within 1 spin !
though to be fair It was our last day and we were hoping to get duty free on the way home, and firgured taking that into account i could *lose* $100 without worrying .
As for charging things to our room Im a bit IFFY on this, Just on our last trip we charged 2 cokes to our room(brother took money enough for beers for him and 2 cokes for me ) and on check out instead of getitng charged for 2 cokes, our *charges* were $185 or there abouts.somehow the mgm had charged a shredd load of things to our room(or someone else did) and well i was annoyed by this!
As you have rightly said never play for comps and i agree 100%.
As many people will know im a bit *tight* though some people think this is good others dont, IF i can get something for nothing I'd like to, even if its a couple of buffets! just something you know?but many thanks for the feedback0 -

I really like this part.
Having a 'holiday home' is a great feeling.
I too would consider any option, but on the amount we gamble the offer would never be as good as our 'holiday home'.
I work hard all year, and my holidays are precious to me.0 -

question re: studentuniverse.com... I'm pricing up a one-way ticket to Washington (looking to fly internal to LV)... on the Virgin website it's coming in at £1,112, but the same flight via Momondo and Studentuniverse, it's £392
that's a very generous discount for students?!
(edit - and it's £659 on Skytours)0 -
Hey guys
The stuff about waiting 72 hours in between room comps ??
Didn't know that existed, guess it would make sense if it does...
However, didn't stop me using comps in Lux & MC earlier this year, and they weren't 72 hours apart....
I'll report on here when I come to book my comp rooms on how I get on, etc etc.....
As we got 14 nights out there, am toying with the idea of driving to Santa Clarita again for 2 nights.... Why ?
Cos of 'Six Flags' theme park, had great fun when we went last year, so hoping to convince the wife to go, unless someone knows of a good theme park around 300 miles or less from Vegas ??0 -

Firstly vegas duty is horrifically over priced, dont waste your time with it, buy in board if necessary.
Where are you staying?
In days gone past you if you were chatting to the pit boss a bit you could get them to stick a couple of buffets on your players card, now its all but gone.
If you do want some basics to comp hustling, (and ONLY if you have good self control!) buy in for a lot, even if you only plan on gambling a little bit. Make it last, your buy in is registered on the card also and it can only help if you squirrel off a few chips too to help them think you're losing.
Remember the trick is to make them think you're a bigger player then you are, whilst not losing much!
Lastly, check out flight + hotel combos on BA. A couple of times adding a room to my flight only added £20 to the cost of the flight only (for 1 week of the hotel).0 -
I think many of us have a hotel we think of as our home hotel even if we don't stay there every trip.
For me it's the Orleans -even though I didn't stay there last trp when we walked in I felt so comfortable -and made sure I gambled enough there to make sure I got offered 2 comp nights there for our next trip (doesn't take much at the Orleans)
I absolutely hated our only night on Strip last trip - The Luxor on a fight night -and a West tower room too- Nice room but a trek to everything - and parking was a complete mare- Guest parking was full and you had to queue for valet. Sod that !!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
mine is Monte Carlo, despite not liking the pool compared to say that of Lux/Mirage/Mbay/Aria/Elara !
We love to gamble in the Monte, did so last year and this year compared to spending more in the hotels we were staying in...
Just seem to get the right buzz in there !
Monte we only stayed in Spa/Monaco Suite, so I guess that creates the extra nice thing we like about it too....
Oh, and the 72hour thing for Mlife offers ? Just read through my T&C's, nothing in there to say I cant do back to back bookings on some of the offers, but the Mlife Offer which is then multi-choice on hotel does state a 72hr gap if using that promotion....
odd!
I got 2 offers at present I can pick for next year, offers expire on the 31st May, which is handy as we go on the 29th !!
Dilema though as I can pick an offer which I will do, but choice between Monaco Suite in MC for 3 nights or 3 nights in normal room in Mirage..... hmmmmmm !!! Mirage does have a super pool !
Any of u guys checked your mlife accounts to see if u got a winter offer ??
** I went for the Mirage stay, do like there pool !Add 2 more nights using myVegas hopefully, that be the 1st 5 nights sorted!

we have a winter feel rich offer at MC, but our generic offer is still a fall offer, so thanks for the heads up, we'll check back regularly to see when the winter offer pops up.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
