  • Wimp, I'm in my 50s and did the Half Marathon in Vegas!

Have the tee shirt and medal to prove it

Lol, I can see why someone might think they'll 'die' walking any distance in the midday heat, but walking a block is nothing, even in 40C heat. It's dry heat after all. :rotfl:

Enjoy your last night! I would be interested to know about the coin machine at EI. There is one at Bellagio, by the cage...we have taken to wandering over from Cosmo our last night. I cannot remember what % they take, if any. There is also one at TI that we have used before.

Back from our last night out on the Strip for this trip. :(

Just chilling and enjoying the view of the strip lit up one last time for this trip too!

Coin machine - I don't think there's a % at all. Hubby went and changed the coins, we had $9.11 worth. Funny amount on this day or what!! He didn't see anything about a percentage, I'm sure it gives you the full amount. In fact, this month there is some sort of deal whereby you get maybe 10% extra if you take it in slot credit!

Went to MAG last night. No wait for the patio at 7:30pm.
Had the most disinterested waiter ever, so with the fact that you can not now hear the Bellagio fountains from the terrace will give the place a miss in future.
I hate it that you get inferior service because you either aren't spending enough or have a Brit accent. Combine the 2 and you get next to no service, at which you leave a measly tip ($5) which in turn reiterates to them that Brits are bad tippers, never ending circle.

Why cant you hear the fountains from the patio anymore?
Was thinking the other day that we need to head there next trip

Rory's a youngster tho, so he spends 24 hours of the day being hammered (or hungover :D)

    ... I remember those days :D

Have a safe journey back :)

that's good to know - nice to have a back-up. We seem to end up at Cosmo for our last few nights so wandering over to Bellagio works, but I like to have an alternate and interesting if they may do deals to give you a bit more if you take it as credit. :)

I looked back at Open Vegas as I remember talking about the coin counters there and I know there was a 10% withholding/fee on the one at TI in 2013 but didn't seem to be one at Bellagio.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Haha, I guess either of those would make it harder! Good on him. Youngsters seem to forgot the hangovers more easily.

Just packing up etc to leave. Can still see the strip lit up from Platinum. Bit sad to leave, but has felt like a really long holiday! (in a good way).

I'm in my late 50's and we did the full Rock and Roll Las Vegas Marathon a few years back.

For some reason I thought you were in your mid 30s!

A question for those of you well acquainted with Aria, please. What kind of views can you expect to have? I see they have City View rooms and suites - are these Strip views? Presumably they would be south towards the MGM and Monte Carlo?

I'm looking at the Corner Suites but I've seen a few YouTube videos where the views looked bad and you were more or less just looking at the side of Bellagio and over to the freeway. I guess there are no fountain views available because of Vdara and the Cosmo?

We were really spoilt with our gorgeous view last time. It would be nice to have a different view of the strip, but at the same time I don't want to be disappointed.

  • Just been looking at the changes to Tesco Clubcard credit cards after someone mentioned it the other day (think it might have been Lesley, but can't find the post now).

    http://www.expressandstar.com/business/uk-money/2015/09/03/tesco-to-slash-clubcard-rewards-for-2-8-million-credit-card-customers/

It's a bit rubbish, we'll be dropping from 1 point per £2 spent outside Tesco to 1 point per £8 - might be time to start using our Virgin cards more instead! Glad they haven't announced any changes to the wider scheme though (I do worry that one day they and VA will part ways!)

    Isn't that in November though?

I'd like to do that - it would have been great to go this year as I'd get my World Rocker medal to go with my 5k medal, half medal and Remix medal 😆
  • Thanks for the tips Bobbyhibs and Duchy!

Yes I have read the first page and the various listings on there - this is a fab resource. As time is fairly limited I thought it would be useful to get the inside line on worthwhile sights so we can prioritise them and worry less about wasting time on underwhelming sights!
