Hard Rock is nice to have a quick look around. It is approx 1.2 miles from the strip. I have walked it several times, but only in cooler months. It's not a bad walk
Weekends when they have Rehab are busy and noisy. The clientele for Rehab have to be seen to be believed. I wouldn't mind staying there during the week, but never at a weekend.0 -
Another negative vote unless you are going to Vegas purely to party.
For me the whole point of staying off Strip is to be staying somewhere slightly saner than the Strip itself.
Off strip I've stayed at the Orleans (many times) which has a regular and reliable shuttle, Gold Coast (often overlooked but rooms are nice and price is right) as well as a shuttle to the Strip - it's next door to the Rio and across the road from the Palms so locationwise is better than the Orleans - but is smaller.) Pool is nicer at the Orleans of the two.
Rio has big rooms but for me just misses the spot when I've stayed there- not really sure why.
Tuscany might suit- 15 mins walk to the Strip -Pebbles is the person to ask as she's stayed there though.
(Off topic whine My usual 103 meg connection is currently running between 0.7 and 3 meg and Virgin tell me it'll be up to a week to fix <sigh> and yes I work from home using Citrix which is just laughing at my speed and refusing to connect<double sigh>I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
the other off-strip properties being mentioned mostly have a lot more to offer on- property than Hard Rock as well.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

I am considering LVH (now Westgate) for part of a future trip as it's near the monorail and I could get passes via MyVegas as well.
You probably know, but just in case - the passes via MV are BOGOF..that isn't clear until you click into it and read the full detail.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I think the single trip ones are free, but the multi trip 1/2/3 day passes are BOGOF. Obviously restricted to only a few (maybe 3?) single passes, but yeah had factored that in. Thanks. Would possibly do the 2/1 on 3 days or however long we stayed. They have some upgraded rooms that look nice. I don't think I've known anyone who has stayed there. We have gone for the buffet a few times, and even met Louis Theroux when he was filming a documentary there. We had brief chat and hubby got a photo with him. I actually didn't know who he was. Hubby had wandered off to play a slot machine and the filming started up behind me. Various Americans in the passing didn't know him either so I went to find hubby as he's much more up on celebs than I am! This was a good few years back. I kept the show on the v+ so we could watch it now and again.
I see Tuscany mentioned. Pebbles is a fan. Worth considering as you can walk over and in the back door of Bally's. It must be under a mile, but you can be indoors fairly quickly by going via Ballys so it gets you out of the heat in summer. Another which gets mentioned regularly is Platinum which is between Tuscany and Bally''s. We stay there fairly regularly but it's a bit higher priced then some of the other off strip places. It has a nice pool, happy hour at Stir Lounge, balconies and double jacuzzis and separate shower, and also a full kitchen with fridge freezer with ice maker on it. Oh, and you can also get a room with a washing machine if that's important to you. We have a few washing machine fans on here!! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks Vanilla and Ferf - I've got five different free room offers but the latest any of them expire is the end of March. I've still got a Fall offer on there! I'll keep an eye on them"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now"

I have never found a bad restaurant in Vegas and never found one that accepts vouchers of any kind grudgingly.
