    Virgin Atlantic seat allocation question:

I get easily confused with what's on their website, etc!

Is it now a case that you have to pay to select seats, up until 24 hours before check-in, when they all become available?
    http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/us/en/travel-information/customer-service/latest-news/seat-assignment.html

Am I then reading this bit correctly:
**If you are selecting seats before March 2015 for travel within 60 days, you will need to speak to our Contact Centre who will manually waive the fee.

Meaning if I want to book seats now, for a flight at the end of March 2015 (60 days from today), I can call them and it'll be free today?

It is really confusing, but that's the way I read it assuming you are...

A customer who booked your flight before the 12 November 2014, you can assign a standard seat, free of charge 60 days before your flight departure**.

I assume that their website can only deal with standard situations and the chunk of passengers who fall into this window isn't something they can easily deal with in the coding on the website, but if you call then a real person can deal with it.

    woooohoooooooooooooo !
Think I have beaten my budget which I set out with!!
I said £700 each to do 11 nights in Vegas in June...
Well, using a combination of myVegas room rewards and offers with Mlife, if all goes to plan, our holiday cost is.....................
    £539 each !!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

With cashback, direct flight was £488 (LHR - LAX)
5 nights in the Mirage using myVegas rewards.
Will spend on both mlife cards for gambling/drinks/food, etc etc, so at checkout, if they want to try and charge the resort fee, we should be able to get the charges removed!

Then we got 6 nights in Tower room in Luxor (although I will try and blag a suite when we check-in).
Friday & Sat night is comp'd through my mlife, Sun is comp'd with wifes mlife, and Monday costs $45....
    Tues & Weds via Lowcostusa.co.uk for £72
All noted to be back to back, and again, spending in the casino will get the resort fee removed :)

    woohoooooo, happy days!!!!! :D:D

Nice one! One question though, have you already got Mlife comps up to June? Mine and the hubs' only go up to the end of March at the moment.

Currently, our trip in late June is coming in at £627 each for 11 nights. Got our flights for £222 each cos we used our Virgin miles (already almost halfway to having enough for more flights!) and at the moment we've got a room booked at Monte Carlo (high floor, strip view with late check out) for roughly £900 - although this is going up and up as the £ gets weaker :/

just out of curiosity, is there a reason you're considering Hard Rock specifically?

Just because it seems reasonably priced compared to others, and seems (on the surface) to be a better option than other similarly priced hotels.

Lesley74 - thanks for saying that it seems quite far out from the main strip. It's hard to tell on a map, as it looks really close.

will you have a car? It would be about a 25-30 min walk or so to the Strip where most people would spend quite a bit of their time, so worth considering. It is really geared toward a young crowd, the casino seems nice enough but it is a bit on its own.

If I've got the right place then according to Google Maps it's about a mile: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=E+Harmon+Ave&daddr=E+Harmon+Ave&hl=en&sll=36.108999,-115.16412&sspn=0.012534,0.026157&geocode=FfD2JgIdyuQi-Q%3BFbD5JgIdXJoi-Q&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=16&t=m&z=16

some of ours are only to March but others are at least to May, one to July, it's a bit odd how they do things.

I dragged the start point round onto Paradise Road rather than on Harmon as I'm sure the entrance would be round there. It's showing as 1.3 miles. I actually like a good walk, however I wouldn't really want to be out there. You have to bear in mind it's 1.3 miles each way, so that's 2.6 miles plus 45 mins round trip, and then you have to consider that you'd be walking in the heat. I'd possibly consider that walk if it wasn't hot, but in summer I'd struggle. You might be able to cut in the back of Planet Hollywood somewhere though to get out the heat.

I think people are being a bit negative about it (me included) also because of the dislike of the place in general. I don't mind off strip, but I prefer The Rio or The Orleans which have shuttles. I am considering LVH (now Westgate) for part of a future trip as it's near the monorail and I could get passes via MyVegas as well.

Personally I wouldn't choose Hard Rock, there are so many other better options out there iMHO, but it must be to someone's liking. I don't really like noise and it's a noisy and brash kind of place I think, particularly around the pool where I like to relax.

Go for it if it's right for you though.
