He stopped coming with us about 4 years ago, so it will be very different for him this time around, he will have just finished Uni, he is working part time saving his gambling money at mo
My son went with a mate a couple of years ago. I paid for him to stay at the Platinum for his birthday. They hired a Mustang convertible, went clubbing every night, got in at around 6am every morning, missed using the pool because they didn't get up again till about 4pm. He said they had a blast. I think being young is overrated :rotfl:
One of the funniest things he told me was that I had described to him that if playing bar top games his drinks would be comped and just leave a couple of dollars tip. Well they ordered a couple of drinks, played a bit, the bartender then put a glass in front of them with the till receipt in(the one you are supposed to sign for the comp drink)he saw that it said $21 and paid it!!! Best top the bartender got all night I bet,The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

I'm frantically planning and reading as much of the MSE guides on USA/Vegas as possible. I'm trying to play MyVegas to build up some coins but don't think i'll get many to get any good rewards. Is there any top tips from MSE'rs, heard about buying the Voucher Booklet?
Is it worth purchasing, we will be staying in both The Linq & MGM Grand whilst their. Appreciate all the help
Hi there
since its your first time to the usa you need to get a esta(a link on the first page its about £9)
I ve not had any experinces with the voucher booklet but have stayed at the mgm frand and loved it !
get the players card, and make sure you use if when you gamble, putting it in the slot machine and giving it to the dealer whilst at the table.if your spening anything at an mgm property with the card you get a 5% discount(when youpay you can say to the person you have the card and give it to them), still something !
Are you celebrating anything? if so maybe say to the reception person or inform them ahead of time.
when in the casino make sure you tip the waitress's i think $1 per drink is standard, thats what we did, will the waitress's come round quickly if you give them more? im unsure, i guess it depends how busy they are, maybe someone else can advice here.
how long are you staying in vegas?
If you are doing shows, i was happy with the tix4tonight booth, both for price and seats we got for tickets mostly for the same day/night and the next day/night,botht imes i used it the queues were okay 4-5people in front of me both times.there are a few abouts but the one i used was a few moments from the mgm.
i know alot of basic advice but hope this helps. any questions in regards the mgm grand i d be happy to try answer!0 -

I think I've done about ten trips to Vegas and have NEVER visited the Vegas sign LOL
I think it was our 20th trip where we finally made it. I think it's a fun thing to do, but if I only had one day in Vegas I wouldn't use any of it up for the sign, but that's just me. It is an iconic sign and I could see why it might hit a must do list. It is easier now that there is parking right there...probably the lack of parking was part of what took us so long.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I'm wondering what will happen if Mirage is sold, in terms of MyVegas rewards that require a stay at an MGM property. We were planing on booking some comped nights at Mirage as we like the pool area there...but worried that if Mirage is sold and it's no longer an MGM property at the time of our stay, that will screw up our plans. Also slightly concerned that existing comped room reservations may end up cancelled. We could book MC instead, but Mirage would be our preference for the pool. What to do, what to do. I suppose we could wait a few weeks and see what happens.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

This probably won't be of any use to most (it isn't for us at this point) but if someone is going with several friends and you will be booking at least 5 rooms with an MGM property, it may be worth looking into.

In addition, as the group leader, you’ll qualify for a membership in M life at the Gold tier.
Of course, I have no idea how the rates quoted through this route would compare to others, so maybe it isn't remotely interesting if prices are more expensive than booking via other options.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
If the Mirage is sold and no longer part of the MGM group I would expect all rewards to be cancelled.
It has happened before with MV rewards, they just refund the LP's to your account.
IMHO you should get the rewards when you can as its pretty hit n miss with the refresh times now being so random.0 -
agree that we would expect Mirage rewards to be cancelled - but we're not looking at any Mirage rewards...it was the Mirage stay that would satisfy the requirement of an MGM property stay to use some other rewards that was more of a concern...and we would probably expect that if Mirage were sold it would no longer satisfy the MGM property stay required on some dining rewards. But Mirage would be our preference for a hotel stay if we knew it would still be within the group during our trip in October.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
