Yay
Happened to mention a version of the Euro fare I posted to the OH yesterday so we;re now in planning mode
April 16
SFO 2 or 3nights (Frisco is on his bucket list so Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz)
Yosemite (more Glamp than camp I think) 2nights
Vegas Probably a week -he isn't a fan of glossy hotels so I'm thinking Orleans or Tuscany. Canyon probably and definitely the Hoover Dam
then onto
SNA to fly home - Day at Disneyland -maybe a pool day as well (He isn''t fussed about seeing LA itself fortunately and DL is for me)
Airfares including placement flight £300 pp
Carhire guess I need to check page 1 for one with no one way charge - prepay eveything and free additional driver
Really need advice on Yosemite as never been and OH is a stresser so want it all planned out as otherwise he'll drive me nuts (His first US adventure so don't want to put him off lol -If I say we are just going to point the car and see where we end up he'll flip)
So from a Vegas drought I now have two trips there in eight months in planning
Look at the Southwest thread for advice on Yosemite and other places
Tioga pass will not be open in April and possibly neither will Glacier points so possibly not worth going.0 -
Just booked our flights for September and got quite a good deal.
Virgin to vegas direct on way out then vegas to LA and a direct flight from LA back to heathrow with Delta for £575pp.0 -

Has anyone used Aer lingus to get to the usa?im sure i read somewhere/maybe someone mentioned it on the thread about you can use aer lingus and clear U.S imragration, sercurity, is this right?
if you have used Aer lingus, how did you find the flights? any good/bad feedback?
thanx for any advice, sorta trying to work ideas out for next years holiday !0 -
Thomas Cook have £100 off flights to Vegas from November 15 to October 16, think the sale ends by 14th July.
Some return Glasgow flights for under £500 which is great value for a direct flight.0 -

hi
thanks for the advice.
My brother and I were in thomas cook the other day looking for an idea about next years holiday price but we wanted a multi city one and they ll get back to us.
They had a deal in the window, i think it was like £850 or something like that for a week in november,i think that was for flights and hotel, direct from glasgow,If i recall it was for the luxor or exculibar.
we were quoted around a grand each for a week, with flights staying at the mgm, though resort fees were NOT included0 -
Probably better booking separately (but not always as I've found previously with BA)
You can book Luxor / Excal for just over £200 for certain weeks in November (with LowCostUSA) excluding those pesky resort fees. So that would be around £600ish for November combined with TC flights.0 -

Aer lingus is part of British airways now or code share anyway.
You get to Dublin clear immigration there (there is a YouTube film about this) then fly back to Gatwick/Heathrow and fly direct to Vegas from there.
When you get to Vegas you go through internal security clearance not the international one.
Seriously thinking of this for next year as getting to Dublin is less hassle than getting to Gatwick for me.
The savings per couple are amazing - mostly due to different air passenger duty levels in Eire compared to UK.0 -

Flights to the US from DUB (eg AA, AL) are the ones that go down the immigration cleared route in LAS.illegitimi non carborundum0
