Really need advice on Yosemite
In the Valley use the free shuttle buses to get around (they're the only motorised means of accessing the eastern end). At Happy Isles you can walk round and then do at least some of the Mist Trail up to a waterfall (not too strenuous). From Mirror Lake junction there's a walk of perhaps half a mile on a car-free paved road to the lake. The walk from the shuttle bus stop to the bottom of Lower Yosemite Falls is short and on a flat paved path. All that will take the best part of a day.
From the Valley you can drive up to Glacier Point (which takes about an hour) for a fabulous view over the Valley and Half Dome.
The Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia trees will probably be closed when you visit.
In April the Tioga Pass Road (California State Highway 120) might still be closed for the winter. If it's open then that pass, US395 and Death Valley form the most scenic route to Las Vegas. On the Tioga Pass Road there are various good places to stop for the scenery including Olmsted Point, Tenaya Lake and Tuolumne Meadows. If the Tioga Pass is still closed then you'll have to go on the far less scenic route via Bakersfield and the Tehachapi Pass, unless you've got a couple of spare days and can go the much longer route via Lake Tahoe.
Here's a link to the Yosemite section of the US National Park Service web site. There's a link in the left margin to a detailed map of the park (zoom in for detail):

Episodes 10 to 15 (days 6 to 9) of this video playlist made by a British family cover San Francisco to Las Vegas via Yosemite and Death Valley:

We stayed in curry village in Yosemite. In one of the cabins rather than the canvas tent!! That was fine for 2 nights. We booked it a year in advance, but we were there in August. We were told all the accommodation gets really booked up.0

How about not equating death with stopping?0 -
Heading to Vegas next week. Is there any 241 discounts in buffets etc freely available. I guess I'm too late to get into the MyVegas thing.
Also, Helicopter GC tour. Any discounts to be had? Planning on booking over there. Many thanks0 -

Where abouts are you staying?Have you stayed in an mgm property before?if you have an Mlife card then maybe you can check onlife(Mlife.com) to see if they have offeres there.
depending on where you are staying there are ticket booths, (mostly for shows) but i noticed that they do buffet deals(and food deals in general i recall) so locating the tix4tonight i think there called could help you.
I recall maybe on the first page of the forum, you could buy a booklet and pick it up somewhere(i dont recall where sorry) in vegas which has discounts n stuff.
another idea is if there were any free booklets in the taxi on the way to your hotel.
hope these ideas can help0 -
