Only cities? There's some wonderful country in the USA if that appeals to you.

    hi
and thanx for the detailed feedback and i like you cannot sleep on a plane!!
yes the inflight entertainmenet was fixed but i had a little browse of them and zero of the movies, shows had any appeal to me!!

Who did you fly with? If it was Thomas Cook, yes the inflight entertainment was most likely rubbish, but BA have 120+ films, as will a lot of other carriers. Maybe worthwhile looking and see what they offer before booking a long haul flight next time. Their websites should have a page on what they offer entertainment wise.

This is pretty important to me as I know I'm going to be stuck watching it for 10 hours!

An upgrade wouldn't mean you get anything extra entertainment wise, apart from maybe a bigger screen. As I said we paid for an upgrade to Premium Economy and got a slightly bigger seat with more leg room, hot towels, a slightly nicer main course with our meal, and I think that was about it tbh

Again, I don't think it's really worth it if you just pay the cash (we enquired at the airport before check in and got it for £210 each, ) , but you may find it is. This method was definitely cheaper than upgrading with the original booking, but I guess this will vary for each flight, and is obviously down to availability on the day.

was the seats/legroom worth the extra money?

Would I upgrade again? At the same cost? Probably not. It depends how desperate I was for a bit of extra comfort, and how much £ we had left after the holiday (previous upgrade was one way only, on the way back from San Francisco).

If entertainment is important to you I'd definitely consider BA, they have loads of new release movies and TV show box sets.

i/we have always flown econamay(sp) and with the long flights, we have done okay til 3/4 hours to go when we get annoyed/crankey and we have wondered if wider(we are not skinny !!:p) and better leg room would be worth it and make us less annoyed and less cranky.
Im unsure if many new releases would appeal to me, i think the lasy movie i saw in the cinema was the lion king !!
i dont think i am upto date with new realises, i guess the latest new release that would appeal toi me, tv show wise would be outnumbered.I dont *get* the programmes like game of thrones but thats just me i guess.
    thank you again

Bobbyhibs, yes I'm a fellow Scot, although by the sounds of your name I'm from the opposite coast from you. It's always good to see new flights going out of Glasgow. Hope Thomas Cook keep it up, as I might end up trying it in future. :)
