I know lots of folk like this buffet, but I really wasn't keen. I think too much of the stuff was 'ready mixed' like the salad etc. Being veggie I struggled as I didn't know what was in loads of the stuff. Probably just me being veggie again. Same reason I don't like Caesars, and I have a feeling Wicked Spoon may be similar.

Ah, now I like it because I'm a meat eater.
So have you decided to ditch the Platinum for September just because they have stopped the happy hour?;)
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Not totally sure if you are saying you are veggie. If so, MGM is a good shout as well. We were there the other day for breakfast and everything was very nicely labelled with 'V' and 'GF' on the glass above it. There was lots of veggie stuff. I had been at MGM many times before because we had a 5 night stay there a few years back with buffet pass the whole time....I liked it but I have recently read that it's a good one for veggies in particular.

Yes, love Wynn too. Thinking of going tomorrow! :)

Yes, I am veggie. Sorry, that's not really clear from my post.

MGM isn't a buffet that I've ever thought about doing before but if it's veggie friendly that could change. We're in Vegas in September so may check it out then.

Yes, I'd definitely recommend MGM for veggies. And Wynn. Bellagio good too. Wynn is probably the best veggie one for the price.

Probably is that. Sometimes I see good reviews for buffets (or bad ones) and it's all down to the crab legs. So could be wildly different from our opinion as well.

We've not booked Platinum yet. We're on a 15 night trip starting late August. We've got GVR for 4 nights, Wynn for 3 nights, then we've got 8 nights still to book. I got a quote from Derek (who's still there as the bar girl said she saw him the day before). We never got around to replying right away, and we wanted to see what Tuscany is like. We saw Pebbles' room and it was nice. Had a nice spacious feel to it. We will be comparing other things when we go there today for 2 night - pool, gym, washing machine facilities :rotfl:, etc. Obviously we will miss the view, and balcony which we occasionally use if it's cool enough! It's right next door so no location issue, Looks better for parking perhaps as well. I don't like valet parking which is mandatory at Platinum. Price is much better at Tuscany so we'll see how it goes these 2 nights and make a decision for September at some point soon.

I posted on Platinum facebook about happy hour - they replied saying yeah it's over but they will be doing some daily specials. There were no specials advertised when we went in, so that's really just a vague thing I suppose that might not happen, or the daily specials might not suit!

Lesley, do you think the special that day was the free unnamed appetisers? If so, they would need to do better than that.

I hope you like Tuscany. The laundry facilities aren't as good as Platinum if all the rooms have their own. The gym is pretty good though, and there is plenty of space around all the stuff.

I did wonder if the dried up unnamed appetizers were the 'specials'. Those guys that were there when we were did well out of it though maybe?

We are in J block, so we're overlooking the lap pool which seems nice, and also quiet. We walked around when we arrived, maybe 3pm. The main pool had no free loungers, lap pool had a few however it stated that area was only for swimming laps (which is fine by me if I can use the lounger in between!).

We dropped the car off, then went to El Segunda Sol which was closed for a private party. We had also stopped by Grand Lux Cafe but happy hour was Mon-Fri. So we ended up in my non-favourite Mirage Buffet as we had a 2/1 LVA coupon on us ($37 for both of us including drinks), but I still find it to be pretty poor. They did have a yummy peanut butter brownie (which you wouldn't eat but it was tasty).

Then through various places and a nightcap at Bahama Breeze. I'm quite liking Tuscany so far and considering it for September. Had a look in the Laundry, looked fine but as you say the in room laundry is better. Still good to have though. Nicely located for Howard Hughes Parkway, which I've eyed up as a jogging route on previous trips. Might try it tomorrow morning. Gym looks good, but I can't be bothered with a treadmill if it's cool enough to go outside. :) Our room is just like yours by the way except the kitchen units are white.

All the ones we have stayed in have been very similar. Some don't have a comfy desk chair, and the kitchenette units are different as you've noticed. There are some other configurations poolside, with two bedrooms and a central living/dining area, but they are a lot more expensive.

What did you think of Bahama Breeze?

Have had a sleepless night with a noisy neighbour upstairs. I dread to think what they were doing...they sounded like they were stomping about the room for hours. At first we thought it was someone with an early flight but it went on for too long for it to be someone up early and checking out. This was from 3am to 530am. I eventually dozed back off but had set the clock for 7am to do our online checkin. Managed to get the pair of seats near the front (the only pair on the plane, it's all 3's).

Bahama Breeze is so cheap! And it's not very far from here. It was about 830 when we were heading back so we wasted some time in the Westin so it was after 9 when we got there for happy hour. I had a Bahamarita, that's what I had last time we went too. It's nice. And only $4. Kevin had a couple of Blue Moon's, only $2 each! I was going to go out for a jog this morning, but can't bring myself to do it as I'm so tired! We have a 7am flight tomorrow, so we'll need to get up at 4am, so maybe being tired is a good thing as now I'll get to sleep really early tonight (hopefully).

Today is some last pool time, then out for a couple of happy hours. Might head up to Maggiano's, Segundo Sol and or Grand Luxe. I don't think we'll do a buffet today, but will see. First trip we've not been at Wynn buffet. Will be doing it in September though - as there are 2 buffets on our room deal. :)

Can't believe it's our last day in Vegas, but it seems like an eternity since we were arriving in San Diego, at the Zoo etc. Does anyone else think back a few days while in Vegas and think it seems like weeks?

Just to note guys & gals....
I got a feeling the dollar gonna tumble a little, at the mo, u can say get $1.55 to the £
I think within days, it will settle on $1.52 , or down to $1.50 ......
I might be wrong, but from reading daily and tracking over past 7 weeks, just my assumption.... :)

I don't think any buffet will ever beat the Wynn one for veggie options though, it was fantastic and, although not cheap, was worth it to have so much choice.

Steve Wynn is a vegan, so his restaurants should always have good veggie options.
