I know he'll grow out of it in time. :) My father is of the 'beat it out of him' school and Mrs K thinks it's all my fault (not sure how she reached that conclusion, though). Fortunately, he has been gradually getting better.

wrong and wrong on both counts. Don't listen to either of them, time is the answer.

We are renovating slowly, very slowly. Tbh our place is totally livable in for the time being and we aren't that motivated on renovations at the moment.
  • Today's been okay, spent about a tenner which isn't bad. It's going to be a really tight month bills wise this month as I've had to amend the shuffle and I'm also putting more into the regular saver this month. In retrospect I should have waited a month to put this up but nevermind. I'll just have to take a bit from savings to cover it, but as its going back into savings it equals out. Robbing Peter to pay paul!

Will be enjoying checking my account daily for the next couple of weeks and resist OPing until I'm organised again.

I've written a blog post about an aviva rugby tickets competition, if you like the rugger head on over and take a look as aviva are giving away 2000 tickets.

I know. :) Father is 80 this year, I suppose things were very different when he was younger. Even when I was growing up I remember my parents seeming very strict compared to others.

Your plans for the house sound sensible. We've been putting off jobs that should've been done years ago, since having windows that aren't completely rotten, I've realised it could be a nice place to live if we put the effort in. Is your plan to stay in your current property?

I've noticed that despite having more 'spare' cash than in years, I'm more careful with it and won't go into the savings. On the very rare occasion I do, it's always the first thing I make sure to pay back.

Will have a look at your blog. :)

Sorry to butt in occ , but I agree with you! Time is the ONLY answer, I have a lot of experience on this. As is the importance of being very discreet about discussing it with others, as its a delicate subject and you never know how long the issues will continue for. I always felt it was best to barely even acknowledge any slip ups, just smile and "no worries " and clean up.

Well done Occ great targets to clear the mortgage :)

  • Spendy end to a spendy week. Took miniocc to Nike outlet to pick up some under armour as his is getting very tight, it's supposed to be tight but his current one is very tight! Got that, goalie gloves and a junior football for £27. The gloves and ball are for his birthday though.

Minioccs football team finally have a seperate under 7s section there are 6 of them so far. He loved playing with just his age/ability and they played 3 a side and his team won 6-3 he scored all 6 goals and did some good saves :) it's funny when he's with his own age group you can see how big he is, at least 3 inches taller than any of the others! There's quite a few taller kids in his class at school so I don't notice as much there.

Had a takeaway tonight as running so late. Only a cheap one tho as we shared.

Managed to do football, get football stuff, weekly shopping at Aldi (£27), did a load of washing, made some cakes, tidied away huge washing pile today. Didn't quite manage to find time to cook!

BF is on his birthday foraging present tomorrow so will have a lazy day with miniocc.

In other news natwest are opening account to replace 123. Once I receive switching bonus from co op I'll be straight off to nat west. Sorry co op, you can't compete with that!

NG: I understand and know I don't want him to feel ashamed about something beyond his control. :)

OOC: Sounds like good news about the football team. :) With how much associated kits costs (especially for the major league teams), I'm quite glad my son isn't interested in football.

More news about the NatWest account, please? Do you know if you'll be able to upgrade an existing account as I bank with them.

Miniocc wasn't interested in football really until last / this year, so don't hedge your bets just yet! it's expensive but I think any exercise is only a good thing. The (not so) major league teams kit costs way too much too. A Norwich city junior shirt and shorts printed with number and a four letter name....... £60!

I'm not sure on nat west upgrade, I read it in the telegraph it's starting 12th October. I'd have thought you would be able to get an upgrade though. Nat west have socked it to Santander with this one.

In other news that bl**dy owl is back hooting right outside again. It's so flipping loud, I'm thinking it may actually be a world record loud hooting owl!

:rotfl: Re. football. I'll be directing my son towards cricket or rugby, as I really don't like football (well, the culture that seems to go with it) myself. Do agree that any exercise is a good thing, though so if he insists on football, I'll likely give in and let him join a team.

At the moment my son is always outdoors and after the 'what do you want to be when you grow up?' day, he apparently wants to be a Gamekeeper. :) Not sure he realises what's involved. In fact, I'm sure he reckons it's basically bird watching and dog walking all day. Couldn't break it too him that he wouldn't be doing his Gamekeeping when he's 26 (his words :rotfl:) with our Lab.

Will see what I can find out about the Natwest account. :)

I think they start cricket much older around here, about 10. I think miniocc might like it as he is good at running, throwing, catching and can whack the ball in rounders!!!

One of the rugby teams locally have been begging miniocc to go but I have an issue that it's full contact so young. He'd go in a heartbeat but I'm a bit worried about it. Most of his mates play rugby Sunday's and football Saturday's so I'm sure I'll have to give in at some point. As he also plays squash I've said that's enough sports with the running too. If he went Sunday's too I think it'd be too much.

If you're talking about Football culture in terms of Football violence this is a thing of the past. It is not the same nowadays as it once was. I've been lots of times and have never seen a bit of trouble, just loads of families gaving fun. Miniocc loves it and has never been slightly worried although he may have heard a few corse words but you get that at any sporting event. If you're talking of football culture in terms of commercialism I'm with you. It's terrible.

Maybe he can start on that owl of mine!

Minioccs friends dads a gamekeeper, which goes well with our anti hunting, animal friendly vegetarian living!!! We say each to their own, miniocc never gets invited there though :)
