  • We love a good rummage round a car boot! Not been for a while and we used to be regular Sunday morning booters!
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......
  • We don't go often now as were de-junking and are fussy, only buying things that we want/need.

I rarely buy anything tbh but got a nice mug today for a few pence amongst other stuff.

Feeling positive at the moment, just need to channel some of that into money making!
  • Bit of a spendy day. £15 towards Christmas presents from my personal spends and school milk and new jim jams from BFs personal spends. BF also purchased fifth series of walking dead for £20 although I had a £10 voucher and £1 credit so only £9 paid.....

Thats some serious MSE-ing on the DVD. You could even sell it afterwards if neither of you want to keep it and recoup all or maybe more of the money.

Haha I started my Christmas shopping in January! I work a lot in December so like to have it all done and dusted by end of November. This year I'm away for 2 weeks in October so I've got limited time to get it gone. I also have miniocc birthday in October too. I also like to make some of the presents so get started early on that.

We are addicted to the walking dead on episode 5 already!

Today I don't have a great deal of MSE news, did an account tidy of a couple of £££. Got accepted into the buzz agent Ecover campaign and had a £30 refund from Amazon to apologise for me not getting an order which I perfectly well did get which I told them and asked them to correct my account which they haven't as yet. I have no idea why they did it and as far as I'm concerned I've told them so I'll just leave it sitting there. I'm a lot annoyed about it tbh as I know if they leave it there I will forget and spend it at some point.

2 more days until the regular mortgage payment and I'll then know about how much more I need to add.

Haven't been feeling at all well for a few days with a stomach bug and working for myself I don't get time off. Makes me more determined than ever to need to work less. Need to get mortgage paid off ASAP and money invested. Thinking of going super frugal to push forward on this. Might need to work up to this a bit, what to work on first?

Edited : added blog address to my bio. Click on my username and then click visit my homepage. Blog is going we'll an getting a good few hits every day. Well over 100 per day :)
  • Hello All

After talking to BF this morning about upping our cash savings and leaving the S and S portion as it is at the moment I moved £500 to the Share account and purchased some Aviva shares! This is the account that I save up for the wood/oil/coal for winter in but we have over half a tank of oil and a whole trees worth of wood so will need only coal this year. Lets hope for a warm winter!!!

Was going to purchase through my S and S ISA but have managed to lock myself out so I just did it through my share account. I dont earn enough to worry about the tax just yet!!!

After a little research I realised that despite my previous thoughts I am actually doing okay in my share selection and should start earning some decent dividends this year. It also seems like a good time to add to my portfolio!

Have applied for BF for a regular saver, hes one of those who has had the same account with the same bank forever and has never had a phone contract as always had a work one, never had a credit card. Not sure they will even open a current account for him as hes a rubbish customer if you are a bank! I said to keep this for a year and then set up a S and S ISA. He has recently opened a SIPP. This is all very new to him, he has not been one for saving before I have always taken care of all that but after turning 50 its like a light switching on. Luckily we do have a business that we can sell for a fair few £ as a retirement fund but this new saving approach from him is very welcome too!

Tomorrow is regular mortgage payment day and regular OP day so looking forward to see if it drops under £131000, it will be close. Very close!:j:j:j
