The more I think about this, the more I sense a colossal stitch up. The banks have got away with charging UNLAWFUL penalties for years, therefore the law as it stands clearly isn't enough to nail them to the wall in this test case; witness the actions of certain judges over the last few months who've 'interpreted' the law as they see fit. Any law that needs interpreting obviously isn't strong enough to protect as it should. And that is precisely what's going to happen here. I'm nearly five grand down to HSBC and Alliance and Leicester, but I'm having to face facts: I'm NOT now getting that money back. Only my opinion, but don't delude yourself for a moment thinking we might win, it's only prolonging the pain. I hope I'm wrong, of course, but if you dispense with blind hope does ANYONE out there seriously think there's a chance in hell this will go definitively in our favour? Seriously?

why give up hope you dont have much more to loose as the bank has already taken so much. but realistically it could go either way yes. im gambling if it goes for the banks there will be a revolution and it wont much matter what the result is.

  • I have to say i agree with you.. Though my claim is only for a small amount, it's the principle of the thing.. I hate the way the "big company" stomp over the consumer.. it's not jus the banks but I've got a feeling the banks are gonna get away with it..

I said to Natwest today, that all my charges were for returned d/d, as I have a standard account with no o/d facility. He said its the same thing as if they had paid the d/d/ then you would have gone into an unauthorised o/d. So basically its a no win situation, they can rename these charges whatever they please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd jus like to stand up in front of a bank and A judge and ask then how the hell they justify the £150 IN ONE DAYthat I was charged by Barclays.... tell me that's not making a profit form charges.. The bank could send me the bank manager from London on a train to tell me I'm over my limit etc and it not cost that much!!!!
