This is the worst possible news for me.
I've just started back at work after being unemployed for over a year after the Pharma company I'd been at for 20 years shut down. Despite having prudently taken out several insurance policies I really struggled whilst out of work due to numerous delays in benefits payments from the DWP and insurers. It took the best part of 14 months to find new work during what's been a really tough time for our industry with thousands of job cuts across dozens of companies, and I've only just started earning again very recently.
For the duration of my unemployement, my bank were a bunch of unsympathetic bloodsuckers who fined me to the tune of £2000 whilst I was awaiting delayed benefits/insurance - ie not my fault in any way, shape or form - and I've not been able to recover financially from that yet. The prospect of being able to claim back some or all of the penalty charges was a real lifeline for me. I feel physically sick at the thought I either won't get the money, or, even if I do, could be waiting a year or more. I really don't think I can hold out that long.
Also, I'm totally confused as to whether I'm one of the people who can continue their claim or not - I'd sent all the standard letters already, and having got no satisfactory response had started the online claims process. The form had actually been completed but because I don't get paid until next Weds I hadn't processed payment and submitted the claim offcially yet. I'm guessing I won't be allowed to proceed further now.......?
Help/advice/moral support desperately needed!
Oh, and Conor - you are one nasty peice of work. Not everyone in debt is there because they can't manage their own money - believe it or not, some circumstances really are beyond your own control...0 -
I know this may sound like a daft question, but how long does anyone think this test case will last.. Are we talking weeks, months?????0

I paid £80 last week to go through HMCS, what will happen to me now? I really couldn't afford the £80, I'm really worried, as I bet many of you are - is it just a case of oh well, another load of money down the toilet?

From what I've read so far, no-one knows this yet. It's one of the things Martin said (on another thread) he'll be looking into . I'll edit this post and add in the link when I find it.
