Five years till I'm 50 - 60 months to get debt free!

Thanks Judi, thinking about how I'm going to pay it off is all I can do till I get paid so its good to know that everyone gets these "nothing days".
We had a lovely dinner tonight, we ate leftover Tarragon Stuffed Lamb Crown which I cooked on Boxing Day with homemade chips. DS2 turned up for dinner at the last minute so to make the chips go a little further I used a tin of new potatoes I've had hanging around in the cupboard for months and popped them in the fryer with the chips.
I don't normally buy tinned potatoes, but I ordered them by mistake when I made an online order with MrT. Now I know how nice they are when fried like chips (and how cheap they are!) I may keep a couple of tins in the cupboard for emergencies
I had another sale today which brought in £8.10. They're not selling very quickly but slowly and surely is better than nothing :T
The bills are coming in again this month so I'll soon be able to work on my budget for January payday. Progress is going to be slow but I can't wait to get started.
I hope everyone is keeping safe in this horrible weather x1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
Wow - never thought of frying tinned potato - I have a tin in my cupboard donated by the Rev mother - so might try that someday! I don't really deep fry anything and fryer oil needs changing so it won't be anytime soon!! Lamb sounds lovely though!
Yes nothing days are my plotting and planning days - keeps me sane and focused on the next step (no matter how small!) to being debt free! Great news on the sale - and any sale is better than no sale definitely! so keep going (she says running away from ebaying!)0 -
We don't fry a lot either, but sometimes home made chips are quick and easy. I called the potatoes "sauted potatoes" and they ate the lot :rotfl:
Its Friday at last and BF gets paid a week today. I really don't now how we're going to manage till payday without using credit but I'm determined to try. I'm taking a ham sandwich to work and there'll be absolutely NO Cos*a Coffee!
No snow here last night. Apart from some very high winds we got away quite lightly here this week which is a change for this part of Wales. I hope everyone else is ok.
Our gas ran out last night, so that's another £100 we need to find somewhere to buy two cylinders of LPG. Its not a disaster because we have the log burner for warmth and electricity to heat the water but its quite chilly here this morning without the radiators on. We'll just have to toughen up a bit - we never had central heating when I was growing up, we just used a hot water bottle :rotfl:
At least the price of petrol is going down. I wonder if it'll go down under £1. That would be brilliant.
I'd better get myself moving or I'll be in trouble. Hope everyone else has a good day x1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
So how long does LPG last you at £100 a go? Just as well you have log burner - that is one thing I would really like - I didn't think it would go in my sort of house but friend has got one in a similar house and its lovely! I feel your pain after having no heating this week!
January is tough month - I can send you some spam if you need it! Can go with your saut!ed potatoes. Keep going its amazing how resourceful we can be when we need to be!0 -
Hi Judi :hello: I quite like Spam actually, but BF can't stand it! I think this is a product of being a child of the 70's. I think he probably ate too much of it :rotfl:
Today's tea was prawn omelette using up prawns bought for Christmas but not used with eggs and onions I already had in the fridge.
I spoke too soon about the weather this morning. Half way to work I came across the snow then spent the whole day worrying about the drive home
Thankfully it was all gone by tonight but there was a good few inches on the road this morning.
I've had two of my credit card bills now and I'm over the limit on both of them. I must have completely lost my mind before Christmas because I had no idea. At least next week before payday I can update my totals and know absolutely what's what. I may have had my LBM just before Christmas, but the fight back starts in 8 days.
The two gas cannisters lasted us for about two and a half months and we had the heating running for an hour and a half in the morning before work and an hour and a half in the evening. We hardly ever use it for heating the water, we use the immersion heater for that because we're in credit with Swal*c at the moment.
The log burner is the best thing I've bought since I bought the house, worth every penny. I think they fit in most homes - my house is a fairly modern one, built about 28 years ago. The fire surround is quite minimalist but I have a thing for shabby chic.
I don't want to brag but I did quite a good job of upcycling an old desk I bought on Eb*y and I've got two pieces in the garage waiting to be done. Trouble is the garage is full of junk. One of my jobs for this year is to hire a skip to get rid of all the rubbish and find an old work table somewhere so I can get upcycling again
I'm rambling now, so back to the moneysaving. Today I bought:-
Baking potatoes, beans, cheese, eggs, bread, butter and teabags to help keep us going till next Friday.
Tomorrow, I will be having lunch with my mum and the rest of the afternoon will be spent going through my finances and working on next month's budget - (I really know how to walk on the wild side :rotfl::rotfl:)
Snow is forecast for tomorrow, so maybe I'll be lucky and BF won't have to go to work - we don't see enough of each other, one of us is always working while the other is at home
No sales yet, but if everyone's snowed in tomorrow we could be in for a profitable weekend (positive thinking face).
Hope everyone had a good day x1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
Your log burner sound lovely - my house is 1960's semidetached but it does have a chimney so I am sure it would be fine - but it is definitely at the bottom of the 'I want' things once I am deb free and by then I might be ready to downsize to a cottage in the country anyway!
LPG is not too expensive then - I pay more than that for my mains gas.
Just think payday is the start of the journey - its so easy to loose track at Christmas - I lost the plot and stopped entering every spend into a YNAB and the result cost me about £500 in unplanned spends! Its easy to do!
Hope the snow does what you want (falls overnight and means your BF can't leave the house!) but keep it to yourself I hate the snow- I am driving to Manchester to go on trampolines! (bring on the tenna lady!)0 -
Just sold another item on eb*y making a grand total of £7.83 to add to my challenge total. In order to make it to the end of the month and pay my mobile phone bill without getting overdrawn I need to make £25.49 before the 23rd. I think its doable with a few good sales next week.
I've never had an overdraft facility - that would be too much of a temptation, but I've gone unofficially overdrawn the last couple of months and incurring charges each time. This time I WILL NOT go into the red :A1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
Somebody must've been listening last night because I got up this morning to £39.13 worth of sales so that's my mobile phone payment taken care of and I won't be straying into the red this month (hopefully!).
I think I may have been over ambitious when I put myself down for £3,000 in the 2015: Make £1,000 challenge but so far I have made about £179.
This month, after a very spendy Christmas, my Eb*y funds have been a godsend and have been used to top up my wages. I'm really hoping that next month I will be able to use them to pay things off and pay my mum back.
Its quite a nice day here today, we've just had some hailstones, but no snow, so BF went to work. I'm off to see my mum in a little while and I'll be leaving my purse at home so today is definitely going to be a NSD.
Hope everyone has a lovely MSE Saturday x1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
Today's been a good day with a further £25 worth of sales. One of them was a really nice handbag that I didn't really want to sell but I have more bags than I will ever use and I need the money more than I need another bag.
Its very cold here tonight - we're sitting very close to the fire to try and keep warm.
I left my purse at home this morning so.....no wine but all is not lost.
I bought a bottle of cider at Christmas to cook the gammon so I'm having a very nice cider shandy to use up all the leftovers. My gran would be proud of this waste not want not attitude :A1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -
Mmmm cider! not had cider for a while - well done I using up leftovers! Better than me! - I bought wine today in my shop (very naughty and not on the list!!!!) - well done on your sales you are on a roll - you will survive to payday with that money coming in with any luck!0
