Five years till I'm 50 - 60 months to get debt free!

  • Leslamp - I know exactly what you mean. BF works when I'm off and I'm off when he's at work. I spend a lot of time on my own at the moment.

I don't think I'm advanced enough to use Excel to that extent, but I've just reminded myself of the basics. I don't use it every day so I've lost the knack :D

INOD - I'm also a notebook girl. In fact I have a drawer full of the things and BF had to restrain me this afternoon in Wilkos or I would've bought another one!

    Spends today:-

Alberto Balsalm conditioner reduced to 47p x 2
    Bubble Bath 60p
    Containers for the freezer £1.00
    New doormat £2
    Bread 55p x 2

DS2 was here for tea so we ate the leftover turkey & leek pie with carrots and mash.

Tomorrow's dinner is egg & chips, so tomorrow I will have to buy some eggs. I also need to take a couple of things to the Post Office and check on mum.

I have to try and get back into some semblance of a routine or Monday morning will be complete shock to the system. I wish I could be a lady of leisure but alas, I have to work. Try as I might, I just can't seem to win the lottery. Actually, I don't buy tickets very often so that probably explains it :D

Its been a beautiful day in Wales today, cold but blue skies. It would've been a lovely day for a nice long walk. Because BF is always working when I'm not, we've let the walking slide a bit lately, but we'll have to try and make time for it.

    Things to do tomorrow:-

    1. Get up at a reasonable hour.
    2. Have a Nutri Bullet for breakfast.
    3. Go to town.
    4. Have lunch with mum.
    5. Come home and do some cleaning.
    6. Tackle the ironing.
    7. Clean the bathroom, but this will do on Sunday if I don't get around to it.

I have a question - I have some lamb mince in the freezer, if I take it out and make a big batch of bolognese with it, does it have to be eaten straight away or can you re-freeze it once cooked? I know you can't re-freeze raw meat, but is it ok to re-freeze if its been cooked? If its not advisable, I'll have to keep it until we have a full house again.

I hope everyone else had a good MSE day x

    Hi,
Quite safe to freeze the meat once it has been cooked.

  • Thank you Puzzcat, I know you can't re-freeze raw meat but wasn't sure once cooked. I'll take it out now, then tomorrow I will make a huge cauldron full of bolognese sauce to be frozen in batches, or maybe half bolognese half shepherd's pie (depends on my mood!).

The plan is to cook ahead as much as possible, that way, when I'm late home from work, and not in the mood to cook, I won't be tempted to spend money I haven't got on take-aways :o

  • Morning!!!

I don't know why I'm so cheerful today, because I'm back at work on Monday..booo!

I woke up with yet another migraine this morning. In a way I'm lucky in that even though they make me feel yucky, they don't completely debilitate me like they do other people. I just spend days feeling below par which is a bl**dy nuisance :o

Plenty of things to do today so I'd better get cracking. I took the decorations down last night so now my living room looks like it should again. I can't stand clutter and have to have everything in its place or it gets on my nerves. I could probably make some extra money by hiring myself out as a professional de-clutterer :T

I didn't sleep very well last night, I couldn't switch off. My brother gave me an Ama*on voucher for crimbo and I couldn't stop thinking about which books to buy for my Kindle. If I was 100% MSE I'd probably keep the voucher and use it to buy the next birthday pressie due, but I've already used my Christmas money to pay off some debt, so I've decided that this £15 is mine! If I spend it wisely, it will keep me in ebooks for months :)

Right, I'm going..I've let my diary distract me again!

  • I'm back!

Went to town, popped to the Post Office and had lunch with my mum.

    Today's spends:-

    Plain Flour - £1.15
    6 large eggs - £1.75
    Onions - £0.69p
    Carrots - £1.17
    Butter - £2.00
    Local Paper - £0.70
    Two cupcakes - £1.60
    Local Paper - £0.40

    Total - £9.46

All in all quite controlled I think. I've put a load of laundry on and am now sitting here with a lovely cup of coffee waiting for BF to come home from work.

Tonight's dinner is egg & chips.

Don't know what's up with Eb*y this week, no sales, not even a single question!

I hope everyone else is having a good MSE day x

I love egg and chips, I think this will also be our dinner tonight.:j
Hope the Ebay sales pick up, I'm hoping to list tomorrow, sorted out a few things.
  • Dinner was very nice

I also have a few more bits to list on Eb*y tomorrow, though I'm wondering why I bother at the moment.

I'm sat watching a rubbish film with BF. Not a lot worth watching this evening - don't they know not everyone goes out on a Saturday night?

Getting slightly anxious about work on Monday now. Can't say I'm unhappy there, but on the other hand, I can't say I'm completely happy there either. I just keep feeling like I should be doing something else. You'd think that by the age of 45 I'd know what I want to be when I grow up!!

Ignore me, I'm not happy unless I'm worrying about something.

  • Today has been a productive day for a change, but I just can't seem to shake the lack of energy surrounding me lately, everything seems to be taking a lot more effort. I guess its just that feeling you get after Christmas is all over.

On the positive side, today has been a NSD

I made a lovely shepherd's pie, but there won't be any for the freezer. It was so nice BF had seconds and wants it for tea tomorrow again, so no point freezing any. How am I supposed to fill my freezer with home cooked ready meals if people eat them faster than I can cook them

I've done all my washing and cleared the ironing. I've stripped all the cushion covers and given them a boil wash. I have a thing about germs, sometimes I can't help myself, if we have people over to stay, I have to strip all the cushions, and wipe things down with anti-bac spray. I strip the beds, boil wash the bedding and hoover matresses. Its probably a form of anxiety, and some days are worse than others, but once I start thinking germs, thats it! I would be mortified if my visitors knew this :(

I sold two items on Eb*y today and have the grand total of £9 to add to the challenge. I was beginning to think that somebody had switched Eb*y off!

I'm back to work tomorrow and am going to try my best to make it a second NSD in a row. I have plenty of pasta in the cupboard so I'm going to get up earlier and make myself some pasta salad to take with me.

I have two parcels to post, but as the buyers are paying for the postage, I won't be counting that as a spend.

I've also listed 7 more items on Eb*y. Free listing ends tomorrow and I have about 6 more bits to sell, but I'm all Eba*ed out for one day so they'll have to wait.

I hope everyone else had a good MSE day x

  • Morning!

First day back at work today and to be honest it doesn't feel that bad. Don't know how I'm going to feel once I'm there mind you, because we're starting work with new software today, but at least we'll all be in the same boat.

I'm taking ham pasta salad for my lunch with a banana and a tangerine. The scales gave me a bit of a shock this morning but its to be expected really seeing I've done nothing but eat since Christmas Eve!

Anyway, I'm hoping for a NSD. My Kindle is also coming with me to help me avoid the magazine racks at lunchtime.

I hope everyone else has a good day x

  • Well, the first day back wasn't as bad as all that. Just kept my head down and got the work done....as you do :D

I find it frustrating at times though. I took a demotion of sorts when I changed jobs (in order to obtain job security) but sometimes I just want to scream - people have no idea what they're doing

    Positives today:-

    1. Today was a NSD.
    2. Only 4 sleeps till the weekend :j:j

No sales as yet today, but two parcels posted at lunchtime.

I've taken leftover duck out of the freezer for tomorrow so I'm off over to the OS thread to try and find something exciting to create for tomorrow's tea.

Hope everyone else had a good MSE day x
