Hanging on to my 'happenies here as well and using up existing stocks.I do have to buy some glace cherries but will try to find the cheapest ones first, because of the time of year they start going up in price and I object to paying more that I have to just because aa supermarket wants to jump on the christmas lunacy.I have a Morrisons voucher for a fiver that I may use when I go to the shops as its 'free' cash:)Right Im off to see what the comparison site say about glace cherries

That's brilliant ...well done x0 -
Not an NSD took a rare trip to the county town. Saw loads of nice things and only brought what was on the list. So feeling well pleased with my self. Now just have to conquer the stuff I have already brought and not used or no longer require. I have decided to donate a bag to a CS either every Wednesday or Friday depending on what else I am doing. I did get rid of a load at the start of the year and the mountain of toiletries is going down nicely. Do have some worn clothes to sort through though. Also the house is a complete mess as we are decorating the hall, bits of wallpaper and dust ecerywhere. It'll be worth it in the end.0

Hi everyone
Well after an expensive few weeks of days/nights out I have no plans to spend (waste) anymore money for a while!
I'm still reducing the food in cupboards and freezer, it's nice to see some of the jars and packets disappearing. That said, I've just placed a big order from Asda as I'm down to last 2 boxes of cat food, so getting 3 months worth delivered with a few other odds and ends. Will save me in long run as they're on offer and I won't have to try and carry them home
Have a beef stew in the slowcooker, been craving one for weeks with nice fluffy dumplings and I found a pack of YS diced beef for £1.50 yesterday so I'm making it for tea today. It's helping to use up some LO grated carrot & courgette from the freezer, OOD tomato paste, OOD Worcester sauce and I rinsed out a jar of caramelised onions which I finished yesterday with the stock :rotfl:0 -
bookworm and pm isn't it great when things start to click into place, I too am using up as much as possible indoors, and staying away from the shops outdoors
. I have enough soup to do me until the end of the month (Wednesday) and more than enough food as well.I have a shopping list by the kettle that is being added to now and again, but I'm doing my best to try and make it until Thursday and the new month.
Did some baking this morning and will do some more tomorrow as I am in until mid afternoon when I go to look after my grandsons,
Tuesday I have a hospital appointment ,fingers crossed I will be signed off from there at long last.Wednesday I am going to Bluewater as I have an appointment in the Apple shop about my lap-top, so three NSDs at least for me
I also have a cheque to go into my savings account for some cash I loaned someone ages ago, and got back in yesterday's post:):)
So I'm quite a happy bunny at the moment as I had written the loan off.
Onwards and upwards chums

Just spent money... I'm decluttering my credit file but it cost me £2 for the privledge!
Now that I've paid off the unsecured debts I want to start sorting it out properly. I've noticed a few old accounts that should show as settled so I'm going to write to the companies to get them closed.
Don't understand why some are still being reported...Virgin media has 2 accounts running even though I ended one last October....Santander is reporting on a current account I last used 3 year ago
Have decided to save up some pennies and then close my last credit card by end of the year. I keep it as an emergency fund in case anything happens and I need a large amount of cash and can't get to the bank/internet banking. Annoying how within 2 weeks of clearing my debts they upped my credit limit
Have just cut up the buy now pay later Argos card...no more temptations, will close that account aswell.
Quite looking forward to seeing a very small credit file in 6 years time!0 -
Just went into the small stash (little more than a shoebox) where I keep a few things for the small gifts I exchange at birthdays with one or two friends. Have made up a gift bag of friend-appropriate consumables for tomorrow's visit after work, and chose a card from my card stash.
Very restful, buying a few little bits as they come to light throughout the year and then keeping them by for certain dates. Oh, and the giftwrap was pre-loved, carefully ironed and put away in one of the two A4 plastic envelope wallets which I limit myself to for giftwrap these days.
Everything was to hand in my sitting-room and no rushing out to the shops grabbing the first 'it'll do' sort of thing.
Am busy in the kitchen this evening, with the first of this season's hg beetroots cooling after boiling and a batch of bread rolls proving. Once I've had a bit of a rest and finished my cuppa, I shall make another courgette cheese pie, which will live in the fridge and be a cut-and-come-again dish for my pack-ups for work. Mostly storecupboard ingredients, bar a mozarells thingy (43p) and a bit of strong cheese.
It's a bit of work getting everything ready on a Sunday evening, but it means easy times after work Mon-Thurs so that's worth it for me. Some tunes on the stereo, MSE on the 'pooter and all is well with the world.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hiya All
Well, I am almost at my £1500 target for fund raising (by sponsor a barell scheme) for our Beer Festival - this will mean that the BFest funds itself and our profits can go to charity so in a round about way that is money for charity - provided people come and drink beer!!
Bookworm - well done! It is amazing how just changing small habits can add up the pennies and help us survive. I too work on the fringes of education and September is a lean month for me also! - if you plan for it! So today I was able to take a friend out for Sunday lunch, pud and coffee within a planned budget - we had a lovely time and a wonderful walk in the sunshine round beautiful Olney afterwards.:):) This birthday treat for them was nice to be able to do as they too are not on much money!
Jackie O I do hope they give you as much of an 'all clear' as possible and that you can stop the appointments. Well done you for the £15 odd saved! V cool! this will be month 9!!! 3/4 of the year we ve been at this! :A
Thanks folks for all your support :AAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
