    Evening folks

Can't believe it's 1st October all ready

Seeing as my Asda shop was delivered last night and I got all the other bits I want from Aldi on the way home tonight, I've decided I'm going to try and keep my purse shut until next payday (25th) :rotfl:

Have money put aside for window cleaner, have £10 set aside to take into work tomorrow to cover a charity sponsorship, 2 birthdays and 1 engagement contribution.

I've been invited out for a few drinks after work next weekend but I'm going to politely turn it down, and have no other planned days/nights out.

Can't see why I need to open my purse again for a while

On a sad note, my slowcooker has finally given up on me, it no longer reaches a cooking temperature, I put diced potatoes in yesterday morning, after 12 hours on low they were still raw, I put it on high for 3 hours to see what happened...no change :(.

I got it secondhand about 6 years ago and I use it all year round so can't really complain. Have asked my mum to get me a new one from Santa...well she did ask what I wanted 2 weeks ago :rotfl:

I did take my own sanis withme as I was out working most of today but, passed a Cos!a and it got the better of me :o Had to treat myself! Still it can come out of my entertainment budget so dont feel too bad - I rather think I am going to have to programme this in as a weekly treat - given the time pressure of work on a Thurs and the amount of time I am out of the house driving from place to place!

Good planning pm2326 - I will watch with interest to see how it pans out for you!
    Nite all

PS flippin American spell check - its got me doubting myself - you CAN spell programme that way!!
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!
Life gives us only lessons and gifts - learn the lesson and it becomes a gift.' from the Bohdavista :j
  • I got a new slow cooker last year for very little actual cash because I used my Tesco Rewards vouchers on double up and I think had to pay just over £1 to make the full price and they even did click and collect from the Tesco Express shop on the edge of the village. Might be worth a check to see what's available if either you or mum have vouchers in date?

    Thanks for this.

Neither me or my mum use tesco so we have no vouchers to use up, Argos has a sale on at the minute so suggested mum may want to take advantage and get me one of those :rotfl:

Interested to see what's in the top 10 and the new ones coming out so thank you Ellidee!

In a way it helps me out as it means I have to use some things up from the freezer rather than me seeing a new slowcooker recipe and thinking ' ooooo I must try that'

I have a multicooker with a 'slowcooker' function but it's not a slowcooker in the true sense of the word and I'd never dream of leaving it on all day while I was at work

Oh well roll on Xmas....anyway I managed to keep purse shut today and sourced food from the freezer for both lunch and dinner, finished off the last 3 digestive biscuits for pud and the dregs of a bottle of southern belle from Aldi this evening so that's day 1 out of the way and only 21 days to go till payday lol

Day three and although I was going to get a big shop today I have decided to leave it until Monday as I have enough in store to get over the weekend. Plus it looks like a dry, if a bit misty day, so I will take myself off to the country park again with a bottle of water and a sarnie and an empty plastic box in hope of a few blackberries.Purse will be left at home so no temptation to stop and 'pop in the shop for a look ' :):):)

Another day and purse is still shut!

Biked to my mums for lunch meaning I got free food, a bit of exercise, avoided getting bus into town and left purse at home :D

I've made up a batch of crumble topping mix and I'm going to make berry crumble for pud using fruit from freezer. Also means I've used up some butter in the mix that was OOD and will serve it with some LO cream that needs using up today. The LO crumble mix will go in freezer for another day :D

I love finding ways to use up food that would otherwise be thrown out or go off.

Oh my mums bought my new slowcooker :j. Asked that she keep it at hers until nearer Xmas as I'll end up trying it out and making more meals that will end up in the already full freezer! :rotfl:

I did spend a little money today but in a good cause. Bought some brightly coloured tulip bulbs to cheer up the garden next spring - need to have somethng to kook forward to during the dark days of winter. BUT the garden centre where I bought them was already full of artificial Christmas tress with artificial snow sprinkled on them and related Christmas tatt. And we're only in the first week of October

If there's anything calculated to send me into a spending strike it's this rampant commercialism.

Our garden centre has its 'Christmas wonderland' starting on Monday  It really is a nightmare, with really loud, jarring music and a noisy ice rink, and they lay it out so that you have to visit all umpteen 'rooms' full of tat

I went yesterday to buy a few bulbs and plants and stock up on straw for my chickens (it is the cheapest place locally to get the little bales I use). I am hoping not to have to go back there till after the New Year! Shame, as it is a nice, tranquil place at other times. They always have a massive sale (of leftover tat that nobody bought) after Christmas, so perhaps it is not just me who avoids it!

Oct 5th and still a NSD today .Wet and windy outside so I have a list of things to do indoors that will keep me busy.

Phone call to stair-lift people as mine needs servicing, sewing two of DDs coats up that her little dog tried to eat.

I also want to make some soup this morning Looking out of the window its looking quite grey and nasty looking so until I have to go to DDs to take care of the boys at 3.30 I am staying indoors in the warm.

Brought home some left over veg from last nights dinner and have got a pork chop from the freezer defrosting for dinner tonight I will coat it on flour egg and dried stuffing and pop it into the remoska ,once cooked it will join my microwaved veg and some gravy and bobs you uncle dinner is sorted in under 40 minutes.I have some wrinkly apples to use up so I may make an apple sponge which can be topped with custard for pud as well.

    Onwards and upwards chums
