Ahoy there all
Jackie O so sorry to hear of your fall - go careful and look after yourself and dont rush around too much! as you know I broke my leg on hols last year - hopefully its not catching!
Hope that with the sunshine and showers of the Octopus weather system approaching that you manage to get out and about in the sunny bits.
Aril - blackberry wine ? Sounds wonderful! Can you post recipe please? Wish I could have a go at harvesting and preserving this year but it will all just be a pain to move so am having to abstain. I couldn't do it last year as I was still recovering from me leg and was house bound! Missing the sights and smells!
Busy doing too much work and CAMRA stuff whereas I need to be getting on with moving house stuff like decorating and chucking stuff out! Will have to fit it all in somehow - soon!
Back on the diet and frugal bandwaggon again today!Scrambled egg with spinach for lunch and a HM frozen ready meal for tea - all free (both in terms of Sworld and monies :j
Will let you know how I get on!Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

Congrats pm2326
JackieO I hope you are feeling better today and that Henry is all right too, though I expect he's more resilient than his Granny! It sounds as if the travelators shouldn't be in use in wet weather. Did you tell the staff what had happened?
Lynplatinum Surely you have to have locally made ice cream when you're in Cornwall? I think there's a law about it(or if there's not, there should be.)

Evening:D The blackberry wine recipe is the one by C J Berry. His book is the one that most people recommend to start with wine making.Aiming for a life of elegant frugality wearing a new-to-me silk shirt rather than one of hair!0

Hi Chums feeling a lot better today, luckily young Henry is as well:)
I did tell the lady in the coop shop, but she didn't seem that bothered
'Well it is wet, and they're not much good in the wet' not really helpful, and Henry's arm was bleeding but I luckily had some tissue in my bag (all good grandma's carry them)so we patched him up.
Spent a little more Happy Stash Cash today and bought a lovely cross stitch embroidery scene for eldest DD as part of her birthday present(early I know as its not until December )but its a very nice beach hut scene complete with aida and threads. She loves to do her cross stitch and her downstairs loo is in blue and white with a beach effect of shells etc. She will be able to do it and frame it for the wall.
We went to a monkey rescue place today and the boys loved it.Sun came out in the afternoon, and tomorrow's forecast is looking good.Typical, as we go home on Saturday but its been a lovely holiday, even with the rain.
Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays
Cheers everyone

Hi guys
I had a lovely day out in York yesterday, treated myself to an ice-cream from a tiny little shop in the shambles...cone dipped in chocolate, HM cookie & cream flavour ice-cream, with a choc stick and liquid choc poured on top yummmmm!!
Anyway back to normality, eventually went shopping today, it's been 2 weeks since I went last and I needed more than I thought once I wrote my list, so I spent £21 at aldi...will need to last a while as local store is closing from 1st-17 sept for refurb, shouldnt be a problem though as I'm still reducing stores a little every day.
I have one more day out planned for Saturday before I go back to work on Tuesday, it's a local food festival, so budgeting £20 for travel, lunch and spends...after that I have no plans to spend money for a while0 -
Evening All
Glad you OK Jackie O was worried!! Falls can be so nasty as you get to be older - and therefore more valuable!!! and more delicate!! (well thats my excuse and Im sticking to it!!)
PM 2326 - glad you had a good day out!! York is so lovely - i really want to go back there at some point.
I ended up NBI today!! :-) I had planned to go and get 2 more of those comfy bras; come home and start on decorating the bathroom. however something irritating (I suspect pollen) flew into my eye while driving (I have glass contact lenses and my glasses are so thick they make me giddy) and I have had to sit here at home and do what little I can - throwing out magasines/cooking an Indian meal (with 2 freezeable portions) Hopefully eye will be OK tomorrow! nite allAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

Pm2326 -that is fantastic news well done there is MFW on MSEcalled Shanghi Jimmy and he is a big fan of spread sheets! He began by clearing his debt and is now clearing his mortgage and each month calculates how much he has reduced his daily interest to.
Hi, that sounds interesting - would you possibly please point me in the diection of his thread as I have searched a few times without success?

July was an expensive month. But it was buying toiletries that I was running low on and stocked up - will last me for quite a few months and saves me doing trips to W@itr0se every month for a certain item for women.
So far this month I seem to be managing NBI in some areas.
My Mum and I have ruthless with getting rid of the clutter. We have been willing to let go of some things that have been hard to get rid of. I have taken 3 carrier bags this week to the cs and some things had to be binned. I still have to take some things to the recycling centre.
Am getting a quote on Tuesday for double glazing for the flat. So hopefully that will be done soon. That will be one thing to cross off my list as one of the things I wish to achieve. There are 2 other small maintenance things I want done in the flat this year, but these can wait until the double glazing is done. Then next year I will do other things in the flat that need doing.
Completed a free Level 2 Nutrition and Health online course and passed all of the assignments. Have received the certificate. Have applied to do some other free online courses, but will have to wait until there is funding in the area where I live.
Have decided to cut back the amount of voluntary work that I have been doing, so that I can achieve some goals that I want to do. Some of them are short term, long term and on going.
Hugs to those who need them.
Hope everyone has a nice Bank Holiday weekend.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
Ahoy all
Thanks Pm2326 for helping out Perriwinkle
Isnt it cool on here - all helping each other out! :A
Kerry I know what you mean - as I will definitely be downsizing - I am having a massive throwing out - how and when did I collect all that unnecessary clutter!
Most recent throw out was magasines - I photocopied 10 pages out of 15 posh mags - all about £4 in cost - i.e. £60 by my calculations!!! Whaaaaaatttt! Ok some were 2 years old but REALLY!!????????
Tomorrow will be focusing on 'GETTING STUFF DONE' no one is coming round - I am not working - I was out on a social day yesterday and pootled around baking today - there is stuff needing getting done - my Mum used to say 'Footprints in the sand are not made by sitting down' (i.e.stop procrastinating) but being the smart ar*ed teenager I was I answered 'but I make a bigger impression when I sit down!' I must be self disciplined and do tomorrow! I ll let you know how I get on!! Cross fingers for me folks! :A (This will be NBI because there are jobs I can do rather than pay someone to do them!)Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
