JackieO, RESPECT! to your DGS's GF, he picked well, obviously, and chose someone in line with his family's value! So many young ladies these days turn their nose to charity shops and second hand stuff, and prefer to squander their student loans, or wages, or even benefits (like the young lady in the recent TV prog about spending in Britain) in primark and the likes. Well done, the girl, you must be proud of her!

pm2326 many congratulations about clearing your debt, celebrate, you have earned it!

I am going to meet a couple of OS friends today, I really look forward to it, always refreshing and always encouraging me to keep on this path, it just feels great to have my lifestyle validated by likeminded friends. I have given up trying to explain the vagaries of a frugal lifestyle to people, I no longer give a fig, if I ever did, about being considered weird, but it is so lovely to chat with people who understand exactly what I do, how I do it and why!

I love the Frugalwoods blog, they call themselves "frugal weirdos", they embrace their weirdness (not weird to me, they are role models!), and happily carrying this label they laugh all the way to the bank and hopefully to their dream retirement age 33, in a homestead in Vermont. I wish I had been that focused in my younger years!

    Have a good day.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

It's payday today and I feel like celebrating......I've just made the final payment on the last of my loans so I'm now debt free (unless you count the mortgage) :j  :D

I couldn't have done it without this thread as I've actually overpaid one of them and managed to pay the loan off 7 years early!

    Thank you !
Congrats on clearing your debt. Now put some of the money you put towards your debt into a saving account and you will thank me in a few years time;)

    Aww thanks guys :grinheart

I'm treating myself by dyeing my hair with a £1 colour from B&M and I'm going to have a slice of YS pizza from the freezer for tea and a bottle of cider :rotfl:

I'm going to York tomorrow (already paid for) so may treat myself then, even though I'm taking a pack up lunch with me to save money!

I'm going to tackle the mortgage starting Feb next year for 2 reasons, 1) I need a little bit of work done on the house so need to save some pennies and 2) I get my annual statement in Feb so I'll know exactly where I'm at....should have 20 years left to pay but I'm aiming to clear it in 7 years...I have a spreadsheet set up ready and waiting :rotfl:
  • Congrats PM2326 that's a hell of an achievement!

That's just the best news ever PM2326. Can't tell you just how liberating it is when you clear the mortgage aswell and are then completely without monies outstanding. Brilliant to hear that you have felt NBI has made such a difference.
