PM2326 - we all have months like that occasionally - v well done on the weight loss! Remember that if you were on here and being NBI you would have not have had any spare cash to spend and now you know how to get back on board the ship (we have lifeboats on here and are happy to dispatch them!!) and your shipmates will help you get back into good habits!! :-)
Kitchen is almost painted apart from a few bits where a second coat is needed. Am NBI today in terms of the fact that I am 'eating up the freezer' while my kitchen is largely out of commission - so I have eaten up fish pie and a tuna steak and a HM burger and a few YS rolls!! Feeling very virtuous :-)

    Hi all,
Have not posted for ages but I have still been on board, just hiding below deck. Have been watching what you have all been up to and everyone is doing so well.
Our house has been very busy & through some rough seas with work/college, very poorly friends, threats of redundancy & the loss of our lovely but elderly cat. But thanks to this ship we have mainly been on track with our budgets. We have not paid anymore off the mortgage but we have built up an emergency fund. Which is great as it feel like my comfort blanket.
Today is the start of our 2 week holiday ( so I finally have time to post) and we are taking our elderly but dry caravan (another comfort blanket) to france. Other than the cost to get there & site it will be a low cost holiday, taking time out and wandering local markets. A huge thank you to this ship & the site because we would never get to do this without you all.
Catch up with you all again in a few weeks. I will need motivation then to get some more mortgage paid off.

Hugs to those that need them.
Get well to those who are poorly.
    Love reading about the chickens.

    HH x
Ps hope my veggies survive 2 weeks without me! I am hoping for free food when I get back. Dad has promised to water them.
We WILL stick to a budget for all of 2015 without loosing momentum. :j

Have a lovely holiday happ home. If the weather where you are is like how mine is, your veg might need drying out on your return :)

Yes another wet miserable day here.

Still my arm is no where near as bad, managed to wash and dry my hair yesterday and get fully dressed so all good news. Still aches and feels heavy come mid afternoon and still very painful trying to sleep but so much better

Chooks are also not liking the weather. They are in and out their coop like jack in the boxes. Funny critters. They spend all their time either eating or sleeping. So far they haven't been interested in any scraps, just interested in the flies and insects and their pellets. Getting friendlier though, beginning to come up close to me when I'm in the run cleaning it.

I've been very lucky these past three nights. I've had the privilege of seeing the Northern lights at long last. Last night was the best view, the cloud had broken up so got to see the greens and blues. Magical

Just been out the garden between the showers. Happy to report at least 8 courgettes developing :j and a few flowers on the toms :j. And the pepper plant has about 15 peppers :)Sprayed the spuds for blight last night so after the very slow start seems we are catching up cabbages and lettuce are forming and the beets are beginning to show through

jackieO I too made cookies, triple choc with m&m's. Luckily hubby takes them into work to share else I'll be the size of a house lol

Just pottering about this week. Started washing down paintwork. Where the dog pushes through the doors the paintwork is black:eek: Still not started on the cupboard under the stairs but that will come

    Take care everyone xx

Definitely got the baking bug as I fished out some left over pastry from the freezer and whipped up a quick quiche with some sad looking mushrooms ,some (time to be used ) bacon bits and some red leicester cheese and three of my surplus eggs.My friends chooks have gone into overdrive, and she has a glut of eggs ,so she passed some onto me in exchange for some egg boxes in the cupboard.Had some for lunch with my Sis-in-law when she arrived ,bless her she brought me a lovely bouquet of flowers and a pot plant, plus a huge bag of paperback books .I'll sort through them and find homes for the ones I haven't read and pass on the ones I have
    have a good day chums
    JackieO xx.

I think that is one of the pleasures of getting older - passing on things to others.

Quite often when I buy some "thing" I try to picture where it will end up. I love passing on plants, hints, books, clothes, furniture etc etc.

Perhaps when I was younger I was more concerned about collecting things which is sad when I remember I spent six years living abroad but didn't really do much travelling but accumulated too many things which have not always brought me pleasure.

Somehow I didn't actually manage to completely empty my freezer as I "had" to use some coupons! So tomorrow morning it will be freezer and cupboard inventory before shopping.

It is my birthday next week so I will be collecting my free ice cream from Iceland plus a free meal for me at Beefeater too. I am always happy to take something for nothing!

    Keep sailing shipmates

    Thanks Lyn x

Well I checked my cupboards this evening and I'm starting to run low on my bulk items ie uht milk, cat food (wet & dry), loo rolls etc so I've placed an online delivery and it's coming tomorrow.

Cost me £80 but if it all turns up this time I shouldn't need another bulk order until end of September. Also means all I'll need on weekly basis can be got at aldi for less than a £10.

Going to start leaving my purse at home again during the week, getting into a habit of spending a £1 here £2 there and I know it'll soon mount up.

    Ahoy there shipmates!!!!

One of the dieting 'clubs' I ve tried over the years had a leader who kept on saying this to us (think it was the problem she had always had). It is true but the same thing applies to debt/saving money!!

i agree with Pm all of the small purchases add up - Martin's :money: coffee calculator/de motivator tool is fab for getting you to stop this bad habit. For example a friend of mine spent £5 per day on lunch at work - she earned well but bemoaned the fact that she never saw herself being able to save up for a place of her own (she was in her mid 20s) - so I worked it out for her: £5 per day x 5 days per week = £25; £25x 4 (weeks in a month - roughly) - £100 per month x 12 = £1,200 per year!!!! she also felt that she 'had' to buy each month from her Av!n lady (who had fallen on hard times) @ £20 per month or £240 per year!! So that was £1500 per year. Now 8 years later she has just bought her first flat - outright! (sh also used ISAs etc to keep the money in! And switched to lime and soda for some of the drinks when out for an evening etc etc) :A

Little things can build - now that Im thinking of moving find myself up to the gunnels in junk!! :eek:How? Why? When? Am not going to do this to myself anymore!! LOL
Will be chucking stuff overboard to the good ships CS to dispose of ASAP! (once they ve had a chance on the ship of E B!y!)
SO which chore next??? NBI anything that I dont have to in order to sort out the house :rotfl:

Well not a very NBI week as have Kondoed a very significant amount of money but to me the point of all this is not to buy things I don't need or waste money so I can afford to do what I do need or want.

Have had to get a new car (secondhand anyway) as OHs knee problems mean we need an automatic now. Never driven one in 40+ years of driving although OH has. Arrives next week so wil be interesting experience. At least OH will be able to drive which he hasn't for 7 months.
Also booked holidays promised to 2 GS for school holidays so prices steep but both places we will enjoy and only taking one at a time.
Did manage to knock car price down a fair bit and tax will only be £20 pa, better fuel efficiency, insurance up but only £9 pa.
2 bags to CS yesterday. Made another small payment into holiday savingISA for possible long haul holiday next year.
Lots of GS and GD involvement this week. Think I have 4 today all 5 and under - day off tomorrow. GS5 had sleepover and has been playing racing cars since 6.30. Heard about a potential role which actually pays rather than voluntary so making enquiries on that next week.
