Get well soon suki1964. Take it easy and have a rest for a change. It's a nice chance to catch up on any books you have been meaning to read.
Those in the South have been having a little summer but those of us up North are having similar weather to you. I have had to put the heating on in the evenings. Would be nice to light a fire but we only have central heating so it's just two radiators on in the evenings.
The sun is out today maybe it will warm up. I will be going somewhere warm in a couple of weeks and I am worrying about not having exposed myself to even 5 mins of sun. Will have to stay under the sun brolly on holiday and even be careful about walking down the street.0 -
agnesjr I too watched that programme No way would I have gone into that cave with all of those snakes What amazing ladies, the whole lifestyle seems so relaxed as well, no wonder they live so long.
I am doing my best to slow down (Drs orders) but it is hard when you are used to flying around hither and thither
By the way Thank you for the donation silvasava its very kind of you and I will do my wobbly walk around the course in just over two weeks time.DGS Mikey is going to be my 'water boy' and carry lots of refreshments in his back pack bless him.
Not buying anything this week as I have more than enough stuff in store.I may make some cerlery soup later today as I have some in the fridge thats starting to go slightly 'bendy' also I want to make a lemon meringue pie as I seem to have a bit of an overstock of eggs.My friend brought me some from her chooks at the weekend.
So today I shal potter around taking my time and having numerous cuppa no doubt
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing

JackieO You, slow down? I can't imagine it
But if the doc says so, I expect you should try.
Suki You poor love! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
agnesjr Welcome aboard! This is a lovely thread, isn't it?
Maggie So pleased that you are getting away somewhere warm soon! We've had a few warm days here, but not many.
Must admit that we bought a new tower fan yesterday - the old one does still work but has become incredibly noisy, which wasn't ideal as we use it in the bedroom!0 -
Lynplatinum you are quite right in your explanation re buying and advertising. Many factors at play and we do usually like to be part of a 'group' and not be seen as different. Maybe when older start to realise being eccentric and different is not a bad thing.
Suki1964, I too have worn that t-shirt. Take care of yourself. And keep us updated about the chickens. Any names for them?
Ivyleaf thanks for the welcome. Lovely crew indeed.
Very warm here in NI. Was going to bake easy carrot cake for 1st time....but will leave it til rainy day. Can you tell I have an excess of carrots? Taking each day as it comes and am thankful for little everyday things.0 -
Evening everyone
Looks like summer might be back eventually, though today it felt more like fall... Woke up feeling cold (had the window open a bit), wore a thick cardigan and sat outside in the afternoon and felt chilly with the wind...
Had a bit of a spendy day today, went into town to buy new jeans, but resisted the temptation to buy anything else to wear. I actually thought about going into H'n'M to look for a nice blouse or so as I will go out with friends on Friday and fancied something new but told myself that I have enough to wear and don't need anything new... Especially since I'm trying to lose weight and hope that the clothes will eventually be too big...
Then quickly went into the departement store to buy more yarn for my scarf and also got two pieces of fabric which I will use to make some presents, so that comes from the gift-budget. Will need to go to the shopping center soon though as I need some felt for the presents too and departement store isn't selling that.
Agnes, you deserve an award for reading all 200 odd pages... I started on page 50 or so and even there it took me quite a while to catch up...
I'm also often astonished at how friendly everyone here is when I compare it to other treads online where some people can be very very unfriendy.
Did you know that you can make yummy jam from carrots and oranges?
Suki, hope you'll feel better soon! Take your time for recovery, noone at work will thank you for working when you're not well, so stay home and don't go back to work before you feel much better!
Enjoy your new feathered friends, I'm sure they'll have a good life with you!
Jackie, I don't think you even know how slowing down works :-) You always sound full of plans, things to do and so on, but nevertheless try to take things easy!
Lynn, looks like a lot is going on in your house! And good that you found some helping hands and sometimes small changes can make a big change!
Have a nice evening everyone! I might start sewing on the presents (small cosmetic bags) though it makes not much sense before I have the felt to line it...Fashion on the Ration 2022: 5/66 coupons used: yarn for summer top 5 /
Note to self, don't buy yarn!0 -

Oooh Cornwall - we are going down that way to stay with family for a cheap holiday this summer! We've been once before, it's lovely!
Been shopping to Lidl today - £78 for a weeks shopping for a family of 5 - not too bad I don't think! Other than that, the purse remains shut this week.0 -
definitely NSD today but lots of baking I made some biscuits and choc chip cookies and DGS Mikey and Henry filled their socks
and took some home ,then DGD Holly turned up to drop her car off and snaffled some and I sent her home with her Mum with a couple of boxes for her B/F Toby as I know he is partial to HM cookies.Still have enough left in the tin for my sis-in-law tomorrow who is popping by with a bag of books for me (as if I need even more
:):))
Beautiful evening I may have a gentle stroll around the block just for some fresh air.
Purse firmly shut now until next week
Cheers chums

I am getting addicted to NSDs and have managed 16 so far this month. Unfortunately I am not too well this week as something in my garden bit me and I have come out with a dreadful rash and swelling so I haven't been out for a few days.Don't get it perfect - Get it goingBetter Than Before0

Hi, haven't posted for a while but still plodding on trying not to buy but it's been a struggle this month.
Had to pay for haircut, donate to 30th birthday present, buy new clothes for works summer party (I gave everything away to charity after losing weight), pay for taxi from summer party, and to top it off needed new pruners for garden as I broke my old ones!
Anyway despite this I've managed to save a little bit this month and tomorrow is pay day so planning on keeping purse closed as much as possible over next month, although I do have another 30th coming up and hair needs cut every 4 weeks in summer....let's see how I get on!0
