  • Hi everyone, just thought I'd put a quick update.

I'm still doing ok money wise, rent came out on Monday, Sky the day after that. I managed to get some sanitary towels for £1 the other day. Went into Superdrug, picked them up and they scanned for £1.55 so I pointed out that they were £1 on the ticket. Turns out they had put them all in the wrong place, but they honoured the £1 so it's a 55p saving.

Today I raided my money jar to get a guillotine, some blending pads, and some sticky pads. All necessary for making presents, especially the guillotine, as I can't cut a straight line! Total cost £13.99

I've not posted in so long as work and life are getting in the road

Well done everyone on all your achievements , big and small, they all make a difference

Last I posted I said it was getting expensive as I had wrecked the car tyres after skidding on the ice. Well it got very expensive, the car was due a service, I had to work so hubby went alone. Now the thing with hubby is you do not leave him in a car showroom alone for two hours as he is very weak willed when it comes to cars, and sure enough, he upgraded

So I've been busy convincing myself the extra mph, the good trade in blah blah blah makes it moneysaving lolololol

Still plugging away on the NSI myself. I've got the weekly shop down to around 25 for the 3 of us. That doesn't include dog food and that was needed this week. That's one area I can't make cuts, the dog food and vet bills. The dog is elderly now and has so many things wrong with him but I love him to bits and would spend any amount to keep him comfy and happy

Selling a few bits on fb and gtree Still waiting for a bit of good weather to get to a car boot to get rid of all the smaller less value items. Winter is dragging its feet here, we have had snow around for the past 3 weeks. We get a clear day, then back it comes.

Also waiting for the weather to warm a bit so we can get planting the veg. So looking forward to being able to grow more produce this year with the new big veg patch

Work wise, hubby still not working but there's word of a months work in London. Neither of us want him to go but a months pay from there equals 4 months here so he has to take it

I'm getting plenty of hours. The restaurant is going strength to strength. Already this early in the year weekends are bookings only. Mother's Day is fully booked already which means we are all on 12 hour shifts. Hard work but at least we have it

Anyways I'm back to the kitchen where I'm batch cooking to get through the weekend as I'm working most of it

    Take care all xx

Thank you WeeMidgie, boultdj and Lynplatinum I was just unlucky x
Been driving 33 years, never had a claim made against me! At least I don`t have to pay my excess as I was not actually driving at the time I had parked up

I did spent £5 today in cs - everything was £1 and I got some stuff for the material. Cheaper than the fabric shop.
Won`t be going near a shop again until next week. Have a great NBI few days everyone.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.

No spend days yesterday and today. Yesterday I was feeling a bit down at work, so I was going to go and wander round the shops.
No!! I went for a walk instead and discovered a nice path close to work, will be even nicer in summer :)

Today I posted off some old phones to get some money back off them, absolutely no fortune but better than nothing and it gets them out of the house!

Then I nipped to Boots for a couple of bits and paid for them with points that I wasn't saving for anything. Still got over a tenners worth on the card but couldn't find anything else worth getting now.

Yay I am a happy bunny as my Aldee £35.00 went just over budget at an extra 78p so I now have 26 days left in the month and £44.22 left in my food budget purse. My fridge and food cupboards are fully stocked up and also my fruit and veg so fingers crossed no more shopping for around a week to 10 days :):):)
Only thing I have to get at the week-end is diesel, but that comes from a seperate budget as I only top the tank up once a month.
Weather has been gorgeous today and my hyacynths at the front have all opened up and smell beautiful..The nights are drawing out and I have just worked out its 22 weeks this saturday until our summer holidays on the Isle of Wight.:):):)
Cheers everyone hope you all have had a frugal day

Hi there, I have managed to have a lot more NSDs lately by better grocery planning and stretching meals for 2-3 days. I stocked up with the Ultima dry catfood that our local Poundland has got in as my 2 furries have gone crazy over this, and have also started on some spring cleaning/general decluttering - although it doesn't feel like spring as we have had a dusting of snow these past few mornings and am sitting typing this out with hands that feel like 2 packets of fish fingers! No luck on the job front yet, still early days but hopefully things will pick up soon. I'm just glad to have some savings to rely on that I squirreled away from my last job (which will be replenished once I start earning again).

    Hello all,

You haven't met me before, long time lurker and only half way through catching up on this thread (only another 97 pages to go :p )

Just wanted to say your thread has really helped me keep my purse shut and make my purchases more considered.

I have been donating to charity shops since Christmas in small bags (we walk to work in town so can only carry small amounts) and whilst I enjoy looking at the nik naks in cs I rarely 'shop' there if that makes sense..
Well today when I dropped a bag into the bhf shop I had a look for some new (more comfortable) work shoes and whilst unsuccessful, I did find a brand new pair ofm&s work trousers for £4.50 which was fab as my tosco basics pair have got a whole growing in them and whilst I'm handy with a needle and thread it's fraying rather badly.. So I'm really pleased with this find.. It also kept me from buying something chocolate related ato at lunch as id have to write down what I bought in my spending diary!!
    :T
    Keep up the good work!

  • A NSD for me today but DD2 wanted some crickets for her bearded dragon so we walked to the pet shop (saving fuel here :rotfl:) and bought 2 boxes. We came home and she went upstairs to feed a few to her beardie when I heard some screaming......ran upstairs to find a cricket had escaped from the box and in her panic she had dropped the open box and they were jumping all over her bedroom floor :rotfl: I think we got them all back in the vivarium but I am sure in a couple of days I will find one or two roaming around the house.........why can't she have fluffy contained animals....oh hang on, she does, 2 rabbits and a cockatiel!

An early morning drive to the station with DD1 but will go in my PJ's so that the chocolate doesn't call to me on my way back :o

:D Oh, that made me grin. Someone with a flat near mine obviously keeps something which eats crickets because I had several occasions in 2014 when I had them in my flat. If it happens again, and I can catch the beggars, I take them into work where a colleague takes them home for his lizards.

  • Why do I never learn?
Sent OH to Lodl with a list, so far so NBI, he came back with more or less everything. However instead of kidney beans etc he came back with baked beans with sausages( much to the disgust of DD, confirmed veggie!) and a £20 bottle of whisky with the excuse that we had visitors coming! (We already have a full wine rack and will be out at a do sat night!) grrrr! And these visitors always bring a bottle with them!
I'm thinking that's £20 not going to OP the mortgage and he's wondering why I'm cross! He just doesn't do self denial. We have a budget for wine but I think the whisky's just greed quite frankly...
