NOT BUYING IT! 2015 - A consumer holiday

Smaller scale money-saving moment - in my local M's - hummus reduced to 9p a tub, got 4 tubs, went through the self-serve till at 2 for 0p, went back and bought loads more, after checking with staff that it was OK. They said yes - they just wanted it gone. I left plenty for other people - there must have been a serious over-stock.
So 14 tubs of assorted flavours of hummus for nowt - that's the packed lunches taken care of for a while (it freezes OK with a bit of stirring when defrosted). Just had a tub of fruity Morroccan hummus for lunch with celery and sliced apple - delicious! All the more tasty for being free! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
PM2326 & Edwink, the replacement door/window seal arrived about 40 minutes ago and I have replaced the seal already! It was easy but fiddly, if that makes sense and the longest bit was trying to lay on the kitchen floor whilst putting the new seal at the bottom of the double glazed door. I can already feel that the draft has gone as before I could feel the wind coming through the old seal but this one is lovely, if I had any complaints it would be that they only do it in black and I have White frames but hey ho
I have CFS/fibro so I won't be doing the other windows and front door as I couldn't manage them all but if you are fit and well, it is a very easy job to do. I hope this info helps.0 -
Not a good day for me - went to wa@trose to spend a £10 voucher I had, thought I would stock up on a few tins.
After parking I opened car door, wasn`t expecting the wind to be so strong and door hit the car parked next to me leaving a scratch and small dent. Car owner insisting on claiming on my insurance so one way or another going to turn out expensive.
Well done everyone for doing so well.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
Oh vodkawitch, what a shame. I'm sorry you're having that to deal with.
Good going with the door seal, moments_of_sanity, like you I would be delighted to achieve the job AND the money-saving. Specially when challenged by a chronic condition. You're wise to ca' canny and not try to do too much. But think of the hourly rate you 'earned' by doing your research, and saving such a huge amount of money! You're worth your weight in gold!0 -
Rats! to the car door & insurance vodkawitch.£71.93/ £180.000

That was quick! Thank you for letting us know, definitely need to look into this at the weekend, lets hope this works for me too.
I had to get someone in to replace a window handle last year, I had to wait 3 days for the part and then paid £50 for the privilege of them taking 7 mins to fit it!0 -
Thanks Edwink - will do! :-)
Vodka Witch - oh dear!!! Such an easy thing to do! Folks get all uptight and insist on claiming! Insurance companies, in my opinion are just profit making machines as they get the most expensive firms too do the work from whom, they in turn, get a 'kick back'!! I have twice forced my insurance to take it as far as court rather than the automatic 'cough out' of money. In each case the judge gave a 50/50 split being as there were no witnesses - in other words the pushy person was forced to pay 1/2 of all the costs out of their insurance. In both cases, I maintain, I did not cause the problem rather the reckless driving of inexperienced, young drivers did - and in each case the judge's comments reflected that. I do at least 21, 000 miles per year for my business so I drive a lot! I have been driving for 38 years, never had points on my licence, never been proven to have caused an accident (and I claim it was the youngsters that caused it!). One chap had already got points on his L and the other young lady wrote her car off several months later. Point is: dont give in to insurance companies - in the spirit of this threat DONT BUY THEIR JUST PAY UP AND STAY QUIET line.
Strange way of NOT BUYING IT 2015 but I hope folks can see where I am coming from! :rotfl:Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

Gotta splash the cash this morning as I'm off to Aldees to use my voucher and do my 'big' shop of the month
But I have £20.00 left from Februarys budget that I carried over to this month so will only need £15.00 from this months budget Fingers crossed I have my list of things needed and a pad and paper to write down how much I spend before getting to the check out That way I shan't over spend my £40.00 limit and get full use of the £5.00 money off voucher.
I shall shortly have my breakfast before I go so I'm not hungry when I get there(no impulse buying then )I am feeling very organised today and looking forward to my first food shpping trip of the month.
DD arrived yesterday afternoon with the We'll Eat Again cookery book that I wanted ,bless her she did as I asked and bought it second-hand online and it cost less than £3.00 and she wouldn't take any cash for it ,its a treat she says to buy be something i really wanted .Looked through it and saw how my poor old Mum had to make stuff years ago when I was little and rationing was the normal run of things .I am glad we don't have to use so much marg in the cooking today (no soft -easy -to -cream stuff in those days either)Some interesting recipes though.
Right time for breakfast and then off to Sittingbourne and Aldees:):)
See you later chums

Hello everybody,
Jackie O I have a book which I bought from a carboot with recipes from farmers weekly in the '40's.It is fascinating,it includes food and cleaning and toiletries.I have made some of the cakes and biscuits but don't fancy things like chittlins-cows udders. They certainly made no waste back then.
I have been awol due to "stuff" which like purpleshoes I can't talk about here.Alls good with the family though so that's whats important.
I had to buy a good birthday present for a fancy party my daughter is going to on Saturday.Plus card.I bought a perfume set from M&s £12.50 and some reduced tulips at the till. They are jewel colours and a treat to the eye.I trimmed the stalk and stuck a pin through the stalk under the head and they look fantastic this morning.
My daughter is in a school production,we went last night, very impressive.Hats off to the teachers and staff. So many children from my old school were in it too, always lovely to see them as successful young adults.
We have a meet and greet with the Drifters on Saturday (yes his nibs work)We saw them last year on their 60 year anniversary tour. They are a bit like Triggers brush, same brush but with new handles and heads. They sound fantastic it made me cry, every song a winner, the soundtrack to my youth.I wasn't even a massive fan at the time but you know every word to the songs.
Keep posting good people,it proper cheers me up.Vx:0 -

Always makes me smile to see you write about Sittingbourne - I even read it as "Sit-ting-bourne", rather than the "Si-in-bawn" I would say in real life. I am Sheppey born and raised you see (pure swampy! :rotfl:) and my auntie ran a pub in Si in bawn, my brother still lives there.
I am kind of reading along - with not much to add. Love all your posts though, well done everyone.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
