  • I used the Aldi vouchers at the weekend. Me and OH shared a shop as we dont live together and I wouldnt spend £40 easily. We shared the money off vouchers as I hate salmon but he likes it so was happy to save 30% etc. Spent £42 altogether then a fiver off so £37 and that included a bottle of wine and we both have lots of fruit, veg, meat and work dinner supplies.

I wont need to buy anything until about Thurs and that will be fruit/veg. Got family coming for tea on Thurs and even managed to get the food in ready for that (pan of scouse, beef stew for those not from Liverpool).
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Popped into my least favourite supermarket to buy a few things I couldn't get elsewhere or price was cheapest. I had a strong craving for a coffee there (certain coffee shop brand served there), very nearly gave in to temptation as I am so tired but remembered this thread and my savings goal and came straight home for a cuppa. Just as I was in the door 2 friends on their way from one place to another, dropped by unexpectedly so they had a cuppa free (well virtually free) in my kitchen. Feeling proud of myself!

Am off to ald1 today with my voucher, but will be careful not to simply spend more just to get the money off, as I usually do :o

In light of what I have learned on the ship this morning the rules of the hanger challenge have been altered slightly.

The challenge will now begin throughout the month of March!! For those that have their hangers sorted, well done!!:j For the rest you have until 31st March to get them turned around!!! Please report on deck when yours have been done!! I made a note of all those that said they would do it so I will be checking up on you if I don't here from you!! You have been warned!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: brilliant :p

    Ahoy Shipmates!

I've been struggling to save as much as I wanted due to things breaking, fences blowing over and various things needing replaced. Apart from that my basic budget has kept down and I've been repairing and mending more things - if I can. Darned wooly tight's the other day.

Eating a lot more veggie meals and ones with meat don't have much in them such as a bit of chorizo, bacon and the like. Eating loads more veg but alas the weight isn't rolling off me yet...I need more exercise, roll on spring so I can get out more, go walking and camping again.

Started doing a few more arts and crafts from materials I have about and thinking of opening an Etsy shop to link up with my blog. Made these customised Japanese style house slippers lined with fleece and I've had loads of requests for ones. Still, I'm not confident about all that yet, but as unemployment looms that and a few different ways to bring pennies in are going to have to be thought about seriously.

Apart from that I love this no spending - Getting tighter than a extreme tightwad haha

Keep up the good work gang xxx

    Good Afternoon everyone,

The NBI revolution is still quietly ploughing away here. I have a little tale from the past 24 hours that I must share with you, as I know my shipmates will be proud of me. Last night I was feeling exhausted and a bit fed up. I knew we needed some bits of food and some cleaning supplies, so I logged onto my supermarket shopping account, placed an order (£41 - minimum spend is £40) and then sat back feeling pleased that I wouldn't need to leave the house to go SM shopping this week.
Around 5.30am a lightbulb went on. I checked my online trolley, realised most of the things weren't either a)absolutely necessary for now or b) if they were necessary, could be bought at the greengrocers.

So I cancelled my order, and instead of £41 have spent the princely sum of £8.88 at the greengrocers this morning. Yes, I will need some bits that were on that list soon, e.g. dishwasher tablets, a new toothbrush for me - but none were needed right now. Prior to NBI I wouldn't have thought twice about proceeding with the order. And to top it all off, I have paid the £32-odd difference between what I would have spent and what I actually spent as an overpayment off the mortgage. All thanks to this thread and its motivation - you guys are ace xx

Been a blustery day herein herts nearly got blown away walking the dog earlier!
Spent £15.80 from my March food budget in al@i on fridge and fresh stuff. Freezer still quite full.
Came home and made pan of chilli for freezer and some spag bol for tea.
Made some napkins from odd bits of material and took up a hem on a skirt, still learning how to use a sewing machine I was kindly given.
Off to look after nieces children tonight so just going to chill watch a bit of TV before then.
    Well done everyone
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.

Go for it Katkin, if people are asking for them then there is a demand for them and they must think highly of your skill, and they do sound lovely and warm, the best thing I did last year was join the holistic centre and use the training I love.

Still doing well on the no buying, sorted out my seed's to start off this week in the greenhouse, also the Metor peas & Dwarf Sutton broad beans which can be planted straight out, love this time of year, so exciting, what will grow well and what new recipes can I make from just home grown veg. :-]

Hairdresser came with the snow.£8,what a relief I feel loads better.

I have been making a list of stuff to buy for Easter.I didn't realise I bought 9 eggs for various people. All bought now in the last few weeks shopping. Will continue to buy things for meals over Easter in with the weekly shop.

We are hoping to have a short stay in Oxford over Easter. My son works there and just need him to give us dates so we can book something.Thats the great thing about not buying stuff we don't need,we can have a few days away instead.
