Good morning one and all.
Nice meal out last night with friends.Does a body good to go out occasionally. For about 15 years I never went out to anywhere that cost money because I didn't have any.My choice,I was poor but had no debt.Perhaps with hindsight I could have been a little less strict with myself.
I forgot to say, last week when I was in wa-trose a woman in front of me was buying a weeks shopping for (she said) 2. It was £166 odd Yikes! Never in my life have I spent that amount on food in one go.
Back to front clothes challenge today. In wardrobe not wearing:rotfl:
Today I WILL get some work done on the last wardrobe door.I WILL finish the thing this week.
I have not done any sewing this week as it hurts my hand, arthritis.
I think I will make a Sunday dinner today,it is possible the girls will be here at the same time.
Have a lovely day.Vx:0 -
As yet another month disappears, I just wanted to de-lurk across the 3 threads I follow to say a really big ‘Thank You’ to all the people posting. I can generally make enough time with my morning cuppa to have a quick read through the daily e-mail of posts. You all keep me so inspired.
I’ve not posted for ages as I find it difficult to settle down and write when I feel stressed. At the moment I’m trying to do up my old farmhouse for sale here in France on no income in order that I can sell it for enough to be able to move back to the UK. The current plummet of the Euro against the Pound does not help either.
My aim is to get it on the market in April; last month the primary goal was to start decluttering my life so thank you Guineapigsqueaks (No Clutter) for your thread and everyone posting on it. I may still have a house full of junk but my knickers are all beautifully folded now. Thank you to Lavanderbees (OS Singlies) for your thread and all posters on it, which is like a chat over coffee with a group of friend and keeps me going. And a thank you to Slowdown (NOT BUYING IT!) and all posters there, for making me really conscious of what I spend and inspiring me to allocate what money I do have in a way that give me the greatest benefit. :T :T :TThis month I start on the decorating, but I have still far too much junk so decluttering will be continuing for many months to come as well. I’ve set myself the task of decorating just enough this month to look good in the photographs and then I can do the finishing off bits after that but can continue with placing the house on the market in time for the Easter visitors who come over house hunting.
So thank you all again for inspiring, educating, supporting and entertaining me; hopefully once I get back into a good headspace and feel a bit more relaxed – or even back to the UK with a job! – I can be more of a participant. :j :beer:Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Happy Sunday folks!
Easing into the day here nice and gently. It is Direct Debit day tomorrow for us when all the big bills go out, so I have moved money around to ensure they are covered fully. I cannot express through the written word how grateful I am not only to Slowdown for starting this thread but to each and every one of you who contribute and inspire me daily.
Through NBI, careful planning and reviews of our accounts and making a proper plan for our finances, we have started on a mission to overpay our mortgage and ultimately pay it off in 5 years. It will be a corker of a challenge, but we have paid of £4k since we started nearly a month ago. Not all months will be this good (we have both had a very lucrative month - both self employed) but if it weren't for this thread I wouldn't have focussed the money in that positive way, and no doubt frittered it on things I didn't need or really want.
I must confess to spending £40 on some vintage American pyrex on eBay (I blame those lovely folks over on the Shabby Chic thread) but hey, a girls gotta have summat nice every now and again, right?!
Have lovely days everyone xxMFW

Hi shipmates
Still looking for a little step each day though I haven't recorded them on here every time.
Noticed a thread on here re nectar hive where you can earn 10% on your nectar points (for some reason I can't link to it)
https://www.nectar.com/hive.snectar?method=view
I haven't often shopped at Sainsbugs but I got 8 x weekly £4 off £20 spends as a new Al-i has opened about 200 yards away. So I planned my shopping to take advantage of the brand match. Also I earn nectar points through nectar canvass so I though I would see if I could make a profit.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend

Ist of March at last and a new shiny month ahead.Yesterday in the post I received a cheque from my brother that more than covered the bits I had posted out to him in France (even a spare £4.00 over the top
:):)) that will get put into my bank account tomorrow .
Also I received a small book of vouchers from Morrison givimg me £8 off an £80 shop for the next four weeks !!!
My budget for the month is only £60.00 so they wasted their time (I don't often go to Morry's anyway, prefer Aldi's by choice )
NSD today and I am hoping that I can stay away from the shops until this Thursday when I will use my Aldee voucher on a big shop.I have £20.00 left in my food purse from February which I will put with £15 from my March budget of £60.00 so I should get my big shop next week and still have a decent amount left in my purse for the rest of March:):)Creative accounting my DD calls it
I made a nice banana cake yesterday and also a victoria jam sponge cake and some biscuits, and some mincemeat shortbread slices so my cake and biscuit tins are full.
Today I want to make a semolina pudding as I have some evaporated milk left from yesterday to use up and I have run out of custard powder. The pear crumble was delicious and I gave some to my next door neighbour as she has been feelinga bit down.I even had a small amount of stewed pears left over so they have gone into the freezer.
The sun is shining brightly here at the moment but I have not enough washing in the machine ready to do a wash so I will leave it until perhaps Tuesday
Hope everyone has a good day whatever they are doing

Hi folks!
I'm having kind of a hangover... Went out with friends yesterday and all I drank were two bottles of water... My friends don't drink when they drive so they had Coke and since I don't like these sweet drinks I sticked to water. But still have a headache today and feel like a truck ran over me... But the party was nice, so it was worth it.
So will have a lazy day today, already had a nap and will now probably go for a walk as long the sun is out and then have dinner and a lazy evening on the sofa, trying to get the hang of a knitting pattern I'm trying to adjust.
The first spend for March is already planned. I had the DVDs of Call the midwife and lent the first series to a friend, who didn't managed to give it back in more than a year... Well, now we lost contact due to her behaving very strange and also rude and I'd rather buy the DVD again then to get back in touch with her. Someone here has a signature saying something like "When you give someone 20£ and never see this person again, it was probably worth it." That's how I see it. Should she be happy with my DVD, as long she leaves me in peace...
KerryWoman, a beauty inventory is always a good idea. I have one as well and find it easier now that I can see with one look how much I still have of something and if I will need to buy something or not.
atypicalblonde, well done on overpaying! That is quite a sum!
117Pauline, well done on saving so much!
About the clothes hanger challenge; I came up with a trick for those who have clothes folded and stacked instead of on hanger. You could stick a pice of painters tape or a post it note to the front of the garnment. Once the challenge is over you can see which items still have a sticker on it.
So, am going to turn my hangers around and at the same time declutter my wardrobe, there are some things I don't think I will ever wear again.

Ricarda - I agree, you are far better buying the DVDs again than spending priceless emotional time and energy trying to get them back.
I adore CTM and really look forward to it on a Sunday evening. Thank you also for your kind wishes regarding my OPayments xxMFW
