    Morning everyone :)
Spent £4 in cs but as everything is £1 I am happy with what I got. 2 pair linen trouser s ideal for hols. pair of M@@son white trousers which I will dye navy and a top for DD. Only other things I bought were fresh fruit and milk.
DS staying with me this week and has brought lots of food with him :)
Babysitting for niece tonight and tomorrow night, gives me a chance to catch up on what they did in half-term.

Wow £1.10 for a tin of soup! glad we are on the NBI ship! I, like many make a vat of soup for about 40p.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.
  • Hi everyone

Sorry to hear about your Grandad debtmess, my condolences.
Your new house sounds great, cheaper, bigger and better all round and near the sea! Congrats on new job too.

I did a little topup shop this morning, just enough to get us by til the end of the week (and pay day and hopefully Allthedays vouchers.) The only item that wasn't actually needed was a yoghurt, love the thick and creamy ones so 27p blown :D.

Kids back to school. Pleased we had a really cheap week, only spends were a cheap lunch in a local caf! and haircuts but they were essential and well overdue.

I have a couple of things I will return to the shops, one is not fit for purpose so monies due back. I have been gathering info on points, have some from three different sources and will use them wisely to reduce spending from my coffers. Ditto a very welcome £100 worth of M&S vouchers gleaned from a utility supplier switch. I am horrified about some of the prices on their websites and their food is pricey so instead of ordering a few big things, I might use the giftcard on an 'as and when needed' basis eg. when I need a gift or some new scrundies.

Got lots to do and sitting here isn't getting it done! Off I go......
  • Just popping in to say hello!

Haven't fallen off the not-buying-it wagon but did get out of the habit of posting in the last month. Both dh & I had unexpected hospital stays and I also had a miscarriage. All in all January was a financial washout and resulted in ~€600 worth of unplanned expenses. Thankfully we had money aside for emergencies, something we wouldn't have had a couple of years ago.

Going to read back a bit with a cuppa and try get back into the habit of posting again.

Hope you're all having a good day where ever you are! :)

so sorry to hear about your miscarriage and both yours and your DH's hospital stays thriftish. Some things are far more important than money but glad you had emergency funds to see you through.

just back from my 2nd small and thrifty shop of the day and so wanted a bar of chocolate but I resisted. Unfortunately I did have a couple of biccies with a cuppa instead, so still not good on the healthier eating plan but saved quite a few pennies at least!
  • Thanks all, I appreciate your kind words. :)

Savingqueen, I hear you! I'm having biccies with a cuppa as I type. This healthy eating is tougher for me on the cold and wet days for some reason!

NSD yesterday but today I need bread & milk so will have to venture out later on. It's wild out there so I'm procrastinating!
  • <<hugs for your loss thriftish I hope things improve for you >>
  • Thriftish - I am so sorry to hear your sad news, hope you are doing ok - do take care.

Debtmess - sorry about your grandad, I recently lost both my grandparents, and it really is a hard loss to take.

Hope everyone is doing well, it was great to read about the oldstyle money...JackieO, I think you're right about younger people not all knowing the value of money or paying their keep...but not all of them. My mum was pretty strict with me, and taught me to budget from age 7. She really did teach me to be self sufficient, to save for everything I want and to be generous to those with less than me. I'm so grateful for what she has taught me! :)
