Turtle, thats horrendous for you! Its descended into harrassment, and you have every right to spend or not spend as you see fit, quite right. My first thought that comes to mind is a complaint to HR or the manager of the shop, my second is simply to say to her "Whats your problem?". She sounds like a bully, and she knows she's unsettling you - can your friends help you with standing up to her?

    Very best of luck xxx

Thank you, it's been particularly bothering me for the last couple of weeks but for some reason today I just found it all too much. I told my husband tonight and he was fuming. He also said it was workplace bullying, I hadn't even looked at it like that before. Sometimes she's alright, and then I wonder if I'm making too much of it, but regardless of her intentions (she probably thinks she's just having a joke) it is upsetting and so it has gone too far. One of my friends did offer to say something to her but I'd rather just say something myself I think. If she doesn't stop after I ask her to I will report it to the catering manager. My own manager is aware already, I had a bit of a rant about it last week. I will keep you posted.
  • Yes please to the coat hanger challenge, count me in for March. I decluttered in January but still have far to many "keep just in case"
Turtle, hope you get that sorted soon. I know it's easier said than done. I hate confrontation.
No spending is really making a difference in our house. All spends are planned or carefully considered. Food bill will be more than last month but still under budget. Meal planning has enabled no takeaways yet this year, which is great for us.
We WILL stick to a budget for all of 2015 without loosing momentum. :j

Nasty piece of work Turtle. You just know she has a sad life.Next time just say "pardon"then she will look stupid repeating her nastyness.

I am having a day out non shopping tomorrow.Mr V s got a meeting so I will sit in the car with my patchwork then we can have a walk round the shops and possibly have a coffee somewhere. No rush back as youngest going to school friends for tea.

We will attempt to screw the wardrobe together on Wednesday.

I want the house tidy as the son who lives down south is calling in with a new lady friend on Friday.Sounds like he is punching above his weight with this one...serious money. They are then going to her parents in Yorkshire.I would like to have seen a bit more of him but I am glad he is embracing life.

    Vx

Sorry for going AWOL shipmates but had a bit of an eye problem.

I woke up last week with a very sore eye and not for the first time. I went to an emergency appointment at the optician's who found an ulcer on my eye. I had to return at the end of the day so he could check it out and he sent me off to A and E at Moorfields. Luckily I live on the end of the central line so it's not a big deal. They gave me antibiotic eye drops to put in every hour for 3 days, then 6 times a day for another week! The ulcer had become infected. Scars could be seen from previous ones and I was warned that if they break through the cornea they can cause blindness! The doctor was not happy that I was wearing contact lenses for so many hours a day or that I went swimming in them:o bad me. I am now going back to wearing glasses full time. Have to buy a second pair as I would be stuck if I broke these ones.

Been de cluttering for the last couple of days. Got rid of plenty of stuff from the kitchen and utility room. Bagged up bits for the CS and threw some stuff. In the process I found a silver bangle which I cleaned up and is beautiful and £105 in cash that I had tucked away and forgotten about some time ago!!

That little surprise will go towards the definite buying it I have been doing. I have bought new light fittings for the front room as its in the process of being decorated and we paid for the flights and deposit for our holiday. This is all stuff we hadc planned on and had money for. It's not buying the little, non essentials that has helped us do this. Hooray I say.

I think it was JackieO who suggested a walk on Mersea Island. If it wasn't, then thank you whoever it was as DH and I had a lovely walk along the beach part and through the country park there. It was smashing and envigorating.

You are all doing brilliantly. Keep it up.

    Kind regards
    Slowdown :)

I'm about to have porridge for breakfast to be more healthy. I had a bowl yesterday and it was nicer than I remember so I will try to have that in the morning as I know I eat too much bread.

I did spend yesterday as my DH bought some baguettes from Co-op, surprise it was bread that we bought.:o:D I need to get a couple sachets of cat food today and maybe some fresh fruit as I have run out but it should be a low spend day.

It does seem slightly lighter in the evenings and mornings.

I do have a bit of an ongoing problem though and it's related to not buying it. At work we have a brand name coffee counter, I never buy anything there but I have a walk every morning and afternoon with a couple of friends from my team who do. I get a free drink from the machines. One of the women who works on the counter has been making comments on a daily basis about me never buying anything for weeks now, even to the extent of announcing to the whole queue that I don't buy anything. Today, I've been nearly in tears twice over it. She's embarrassing and upsetting me about this and I feel the time has come to say something. I just want her to stop, I shouldn't have to feel I have to justify what I do or don't spend my money on. So, wish me luck please in putting a stop to this :(

How annoying! It's none of her bluddy business.

  • slowdown indeed it was I lived in a cottage behind The Fox pub in Mersea back in 1966 with my late OH and it was the most delightful place to live The whole community was gorgeous and everyone knew everyone else..In the spring seeing the sun rise was amazing I loved it there (apart from the huge spiders :):):)).

The pianist Semprini lived on one of the houseboats there down by the Hard and he was such a lovely chap and would chat to anyone. It was that sort of place I think The day before we moved back to London the local bobbie knocked on the back door and said 'As yours going back to Lunnon can I have your flowering cherry in the back garden ' :):)

Haven't a clue how he knew we were moving but I said yes if you want to help yourself .He turned up first thing in the morning with a shovel and wheelbarrow and dug it up and carted it off I dare say where ever it was planted its pretty mature by now as it was almost 50 years ago. I can remember a local fisherman towing in a mine he had snagged in his nets and yelling to someone on shore to phone the lifeguards.Very soon we had the place swarming with soldiers and some rowed out to his boat and got the chap off and then took his boat out to sea and cut the nets free and as it floated off they took some pot shots at it and blew it up :):):) great and cheap bomb disposal but the fisherman wasn't happy about his nets though.

Back in those days you would see the chaps mending nets on the beach. There was only three pubs on the island then so people soon got to know each other.

One of the big houses there was due to be pulled down for redeveloping and the garden was full of locals digging up the plants before the bulldozers went it I had some lovely wallflowers from my haul that I kept and they went with me when ever I moved and ended up at my eldest DDs house where their descendants still flourish today :):):)

I had an old pair of jeans donated to me from my youngest DGS yesterday they are cargo-type ones and they are going to be adapted into two draw-string bags for Christmas wrap.

We were discussing what we will give up for Lent and I have decided biscuits.Doen't sound much but I do have an addiction to ginger nuts :):):) with a cuppa, so they are going to be off limits until lent finishes.

Pancake day today so I will be making lots with the boys today They love doing that and I have a special very flat pan which I'll take round with me when I go this morning

Best laid plans for yesterday went wrong as my DD brought me home a beautiful arrangement of tulips and gypsophlia as it was my wedding anniversary and I stayed to dinner at her house last night.
She is a lovely caring lady and I am so lucky to have her for my DD
Well time to get a wriggle and the kettle on Have a great day what ever you are doing
    Cheers chums

  • Turtle _ Hope you sort out that lady she sounds dreadful

Looked after nieces children overnight in their home and will again tonight so she can work. They are good kids so no a bother.
Got boiling bacon in sc and with veg that will last s few days meals. Will be spending £5 at cinema later but will take my own drink and sweets :) We try to go every other week DD and I. Gives us bit of a treat without spending too much.

JackieO - I look forward to reading your posts they are always so interesting.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.
  • Oh my.... I live about 15 to 20 minutes drive from Mersea. I go there quite a lot for a walk. I also remember the Fox Pub too. Small world hey...

Hope you're feeling better soon Slowdown! I have many eye conditions, one of which is where I have blisters on my cornea which pop and cause my face to swell up, vision loss and excruciating pain. I wear a special lens all day which gets changed every 3 weeks which mostly stops the pain as it covers the exposed nerve endings that the blisters cause. I'm also permanently on antibiotic drops and I know what a pain they can be!

Turtle - Her behaviour is so rude and unacceptable. She needs to be told that what she is doing is completely inappropriate and hurtful. I hope it gets sorted for you soon!
