  • Welldone patentgirl - you are doing brilliantly as are so many on here.

Sending positive thoughts and hugs to you and your DD, vodkawitch. Your DD is amazing.

vulpix - if I may be so bold..... where did you get your Alldeedums voucher from? I usually get the 4th Thursday of the month one but it isn't due yet?

I am feeling pleased as punch :D. Just got a car insurance renewal deal that saves me nearly £50 and if it works, an extra £25 via a cashback site on top. Actually with the current company I use as they were the 2nd cheapest (cheapest was with a company I don't rate and only about 2 quid in it.) I phoned up on their Freephone number to speak to them, they were helpful and dropped their postal quote but admitted they couldn't match the online one, let alone take off the cashback. Crazy world! So have cancelled dearer quote and set up a new one online.

Tomorrow our new phone and broadband supplier should kick in - saving a packet though we were paying through the nose before. Next job today is to sort out a new utility deal, been browsing but need to choose and change.

Yesterday we ate out at a pizza place to celebrate a family birthday. DH and I only had a soft drink and no starters, pud or coffees like we used to have (had cheesecake at home for princely sum of £1 :D) Children had icecream though. :) Couldn't eat all the pizza so that came home with us too. We didn't feel like we missed out at all by having less, just enjoyed our treat and time together.

Kids are home for half term hols, aiming to have NSD or LSDs. DS8 in particular loves helping to wash the car (saving me a least £5 at handcar wash place :)) and we will cook and bake together, go to the park and a free museum. Local park has some activities for a pound each, candle making, make a Victorian brick and pond dipping so cheap fun there too. I am saying no to any expensive invites from friends though we might invite a couple of their friends over to play.

  • Turning the coat hangers the wrong way round wouldn't work for me, because they would be the wrong way round so I would have put them the right way round. had a NSD yesterday and spent the morning tidying and helping OH get rid of books. Took a whole car boot full to the CS today and am now working on the next car boot full for later in the week. Have spent the morning cleaning the Kitchen and I just need to sort out food store. I still need to sort out the top of chest of drawers though plus I have mending to do and I thought now would be the Ideal time to spring clean finances- need to sort this as if anything were to happen to me OH would need to know where I've put the buried treasure. So as the saying goes "Onwards and Upwards"

Ladies, your not weirdo's, you know what you like and meat is not it, me I need meat due to ponicious animia[sp?] and I also have iron tablet's because my body does not absorb iron propeley, but every now and then I go 'off' meat, so any time you lovely ladies want to share any recipes, I for one would be grateful, seeing as I tend to stick to stir fry's, curry's or soup when doing vegetarian.

Not been spending since doing the shopping last week, starting to get big gap's in the freezer so will have to do a shopping list but see how long I can get away with not going to the shop.
Been keeping myself busy by knitting and crochaing away, result is not eating as much and have got another 4lb closer to my chosen target weight.

I do eat meat, but I have found myself going off it over about the past year. We have at least 2 meat free days a week, as I believe it is healthier to eat less meat and it saves us a little money. Many of my favourite things to eat are vegetarian.

We have been doing fairly well with not buying it this year, but there is still room for improvement.

This will make you all smile

Missing the shops as I said earlier and taking dog for walk - I did just that. Took him to the park, a very muddy park. I had wellies on so didn`t bother me. It is quite steep in places this park and guess who fell in the very wet mud!! Must remember wellies do not have a very good grip on wet muddy slopes!
Thankfully I had gone in the car so sloped back to the car park without to many people seeing me.

Suffering in the name of NBI lol
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.

Vodkawitch1 lol.I did that once pushing a pram up a slope rather than take it up some steps in the park.I turned up at my Mums in a right state, mud all down the front of me.I thought you were going to say you took him a walk round the shops.

Savingqueen, the vouchers are because they have opened a new shop about 6 miles from me,this is close for shops where I live.I have just listed them free on fbuk.I dont think it would be cost effective for you to use them:rotfl:

Whoever said they were at a loose end on Saturday, shame we live too far we could have visited with each other.

    Wardrobe woes.

Mr V has gone out to his old blokes football group and I am finding solace on the internet. All parts are upstairs resulting in only slight scratching:oThe wardrobe would not even go in our bedroom so it is now in the big spare room, and fills it.It is partially assembled as I thought we had better leave it for another day whilst we were still speaking;)I will just touch up the scratches then get on with making spag bol,not for me I will have tuna and salad.

  • Hi everyone, I haven't checked in for a while - life always seems to get in the way!

One of my many eye conditions flared up a few days ago so I've been sat at home feeling sorry for myself but at least it has meant that I haven't been to town to spend money!

DH was away in the US for a week on business so that reduced our spends a fair bit as I generally eat very blandly and basic when he isn't here. He did come back with a load of beauty buys for me (which are three times the price to buy here) so although it was a spend, I did technically save money :)

As for valentines day, we never do anything for it as we feel it's fairly pointless. DH cooked a nice paella though and we had a night in front of the TV. It was incredibly tempting to get a takeaway but we have resisted... for now! :P

This month has been very tight for me in terms of money - I was unwell and had to miss two days of work last month which significantly reduced my pay packet so going to the dentist and getting a haircut (last one was last May) will have to wait for another month.

It's been great catching up with all of your news, especially the good news for Candygirl's dog! I hope you all have a great week!
  • A NSD for me today :)

I stayed in the office at lunch time in order to avoid the shops, however, the water in our building was shut off all day, so the only option was to go to the nearest supermarket for a pee! I hope it's fixed tomorrow! I resisted any spending, thank goodness!!

Savings should get a wee boost tonight as I'm selling my car, it cost me £2450 over 4 years ago and I'm selling for £1000. Really pleased with that, and glad it's going to a good home :)

I might join you all on the back to front hangers challenge...... Do I dare?!

    Happy NBI, weesmiler xx

    Ahoy Shipmates,

I read good work is going ahead - keep it up peeps, well done!

Alas I spent money today in Aldee for the months supplies - came to £61.05. There's been a few other wee expenditures as I have a big formal Gala night on Friday so a lipstick was procured from Boots, half paid with a voucher. The dress is an upcycle job with an added Sari a friend gifted me, looks rather unusual, but I'm feeling good about it. A few other bits n'bobs such as lightbulbs and catty things brought me to well under £100 this month. Everything been portioned, frozen and processed now.

Alas the RAC / AA etc would not put their prices down and the gas boiler and system insurance went up. We just can't risk either of these going wrong.

Test piloting my handmade cotton sanitary pads and they're working a treat. So much better than those shop bought bleached things. Nobody has noticed a thing either.

I'm hoping since I pay my council tax over 10 months this is a month off. That helps.

Big shout out to the coconut oil on my face at night and the odd teaspoon in cooking if not olive oil. It seems to last for ages. Great stuff, even conditioned my hair with it last night.

It's been a long month but thankfully we're seeing a bit more light coming through. Roll on spring!

Keep up the good work Mateys.
