  • Morning everyone

Hope you all have a nice valentines day! I love the idea with reusing the cards as it is very special to add something to it each year.

Emsloves, wow, that is a generous tip! And a good idea to treat yourself to a nice breakfast with it.

candygirl, good that you got good news and she is doing well.

Jackie, what a lovely ritual with the christmas card!
And had a good laugh about your grandson and his friend...!

I had a rather productive weekend so far. Did loads of household things, baked cookies, knitted half a kids hat for charity, met friends on Friday, spent the afternoon at my parents yesterday, booked holidays will meet friends today. Kind of enjoy it more than these hanging-around-doing-nothing weekends which always make me tired.

Well, that certainly was a spendy week....Stocked up on some makeup and got some crafting stuff; cross stitching fabric and a stitching picture plus 10 balls of lovely purple yarn. The yarn was an absoulute bargain so just had to get it.
And then my sister and I booked our holiday (four days Brighton in April) and got quite a good deal with the hotel. Am already all excited as Brighton is - beside the place where I live -my most favourite spot worldwide.

Am very busy crafting-wise at the moment. Have so many ideas and not enough time to do it... At the moment evenings are spent with knitting/stitching and movies. I ordered a DVD with some episodes of Muffin the Mule (I love old things) and am watching it back and forth for days now.... Problem is that I can't get the songs out of my head now...

    Have a nice Sunday everyone!

I got a takeaway curry on Friday night which was not budgeted for! Oops.:o

I am looking at ISAs at the moment as I want to transfer our savings into one ISA before April.

Today should be a no spend day. I just saw something on the BBC news about fish and chips and it's made me crave chips. Not the fish as I don't eat it. I have leftovers in the fridge but I might make some homemade chips later and save the leftovers for Monday.

:) Well, I spent a whole £8 today on a new watch, from Sainsbugs of all places. Pretty pleased with it. I like large-faced very plain watches, can normally get something suitable off the market, but all the ones the stall had lately are blinged-up and gaudy. Bit of a novely having a watch on for the first time in 3 weeks. I paid for it out of my present-money wallet.

Oh, and I bought mince from Liddly on their half-price weekend deal, will turn that into a chili tomoz. 500g British beef mince for 87p, cannae knock it, can you? :rotfl:

    Morning shipmates

You are all doing so well! I had nsd yesterday and will again today. Decluttered the kitchen and spare room but its my bedroom that will be daunting. Will start small with the dressing table :)
Still loads of food in freezer might need some fresh stuff tomorrow.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.

Treated my DD at the cs shop today, she got a T@pshop wool jacket and a B@n Sherman blouse £12 for both. I don`t mind as she is returning to part-time work after 14 mths off with mouth cancer bless her. She still has no teeth and a feeding tube but hopefully they will be sorted over time. She is only 31.
Made chicken and pasta for dinner and hopefully no more spending until next week.

I am just thinking how I would fall apart and not feel confident or strong enough to return to work in your daughter's situ.
She must be a very strong lady. She sounds very remarkable.
I wish her a full and healthy recovery. xx

    :wave::wave:Hi All...
Have been absent from here and I do need to read and catch up. But thought I would stir from my bunk and say what a good month I've had on the Good Ship No Buy.

My 4 Weekly spending ends to day as it was from 16th Jan to 15th Feb. So.... This month I've saved £11.29 on my food budget. So I'm going to drop that down by £10 a month now. Not sure if its doable but I haven't gone without and still had a bottle of wine and naughty snacks in my budget.
I saved £26.02 on my petrol budget. So again I'm going to drop this by £10 a month and see how that goes.

I've had 3 birthdays this month but still only spent £107.69, which included things I needed for my home and a new gilet for myself (from E**y).

I'm very chuffed with myself all round. My ex BF started sending abusive texts (drunken ones) oh dear. Which made me realise that I was being dragged down by him. That's over and I feel so much more at peace. No doubt the apologies will come soon but I've deleted his number and joined a dating site. So onwards and upwards.

I'm 50 this year and my children have left home so now its time to find peace and happines . He obviously had drink and old relationship issues that he should've dealt with years ago. Funny thing is when we met he said I will end the relationship one day.. I should've listened as it would've save me a wasted year (on and off).

Any how.. I'm feeling so much more positive. My savings are at the max of which I wanted to acheive (I just wanted to be a bit more financially secure, maybe because of the big 50).
I've kondoed my home and reorganised everything, buying new bits that were needed and chucking out some old. I've e****d a few things and that will be ongoing. Cleaned my home from top to bottom and sorted out my statement of affairs, mortgage, shares etc so I know how much, where, when and why etc lol.

Right... Must stop waffling and chill out with a glass of red... Acutally make that a latte, I have some lovely flavoured ones here.
Oh ex said I'm going to be on my own Valentines Day... I pointed out so was he . But its my choice. And I had a nice evening filling in my profile for a dating site.:p

Edited just to say so far this year I have also saved £26.16 in coupons and vouchers and ive also made £20.89 on e**y. :T

Thank you - she has been amazing and has gone through so much. She just wants to feel like she is `normal` again. Hopefully over the next 12 months she will get some new teeth and be able to eat and talk normally. She is in remission though and that`s all that matters. The surgeons and nurses have been terrific.

  • Im doing well, have spent £30 in supermarkets this month, but £15 of that was on food for cats, my mums rabbit and the fox that she feeds.

Had lots of very little spend days and a no spend day as well. Also giving away all my stuff or shoving it on ebay. I have a collection of holistic cards and books, worth about £100 but Im selling them for 30, I think someone is coming tomorrow to pick them up.

I dug a bag out of the cupboard, not used it for years, also wore a sparkly hat last night that I bought years ago and didnt wear.

Gave away my toaster to my mum as hers was broken and I dont really eat bread anymore, also gave her a pink bag that I bought in america a few years ago, I like it, but I dont use it.

Definitely cracking on with the decluttering. Had a meal out today with my mum to celebrate my brothers birthday, he wasnt there, hes in glencoe with his gf, but hey, we did it last year and we did it this year. Any excuse. My mum took us both out on thursday as it was my birthday on Friday.

We went today to the restaurant in my home town that sells scottish food, fabulous, 2 courses for 7.50, 3 for 9.50, we spent 23 quid between us, the only eek was a pint of soda water, no lime, was 2.40.

Next week Im washing up all my zumba wear and stuff thats been sitting around the house, zumba stuff is going on ebay, the rest is going to charity shops.

Also gave away a pile of fitness magazines and two cookbooks to a girl who used to do my fitness classes.

After a stressful few months, things are looking up, a family member of mine has had it very tough recently and I cant talk about it right now, but something happened last week and its turned something right round for the positive.

My fitness classes are still doing well and I now have 4 people who want PT from me, Im still skint, but less skint than Ive been in a good few years, even an extra £200 a month makes a massive difference to me, the fitness industry isnt well paid, but I love what I do and Im really thankful for it, having worked in so many horrible jobs, its great to have job satisfaction.

I also got a dress on the other night that I bought a year past at christmas and couldnt get it over my head. Im not light on the scales, Im 11 stones 11, but Im in a size 14, I got a size 12 skirt on the other day, Ive lost a lot of weight and inches over the last 18 months, really suffered for it (yes thats you burpees), but I still have clothes that are too big and they are going as well very soon.

I also managed an 80kg deadlift the other day which is a Pauline personal best so Im happy with that, next stop 100, might take me another year but I'll get there.

The only meh is that its so cold, scotland feels like its siberia, my mum bought me a hot water bottle for xmas and tonights the night its getting cracked open.

    Keep on plodding.
  • Hi everyone,

Back to work for me tomorrow, and I have homemade soup ready to go in my flask and sandwiches in the freezer. Hoping for lots of NSDs from now until payday. I also emptied the washing baskets today, so feeling quite productive:j

I have 3 bags to take to the charity shop on my lunch break and some coin bags of coppers to go to the bank too.

I spent £12.09 on food today, I think I will only need milk and fruit again before payday. I normally budget £120 every four weeks for food, and I've used almost all of it because I've eaten out a couple of times, which was unnecessary :o

Hope everyone has a good week ahead,
    Weesmiler xx
