Thank you kind people for your understanding.
I have had a good sort out in the kitchen today and have put stuff in the charity shop bag, sold some on FB and given away some through FB, Pleased to be rid of a very large ikea rug.I am easy come easy go too Thriftwizard.I like to ring the changes,I often sell things for more than I buy them for.
I don't tend to stockpile food or toiletries.I think this stems from the past where i had the smallest amount of storage you can imagine in my house.I always thought the shops can store stuff for me. I only buy when I am just about to run out.We dont have waste food here,we are all too greedy.Anything left on plates goes to my birdfriends. They eat everything with the exception of carrots!
More of the same tomorrow and then I must press on with this wardrobe project.

Quick update before I hit the bunk - great day today and quite a lot achieved -
Bottles to smashy bank
Lovely walk with dog in the sunshine - bit icy round the nethers though!
Decluttered a glory hole (not the only one alas) and put aside two shoe boxes to start for the coming christmas, plan to pick up bits and pieces throughout the year and am sure there are things about the house.
Assigned a box for monthly contribution to the FB, hopefully out of the grocery budget.
Straightened the bank balances and put annual bills on calendar with time to get the best deals (house ins, contents, car and breakdown).
Weekly menu plan done and posted - beef casserole in slow cooker made and veggie dal in fridge as working tomorrow.
Two washing loads done and hung out and a bit stiff but not far off dry now on airer.
Didn't go near a shop and def not an SM - would have done exactly the same with the YS chocs whilst still convincing myself how well I had done. Small shopping list at side of fridge ready for Tuesday.
Bath and first use of lush shampoo bar tonight - shine if interested, hair was a bit luggy but seems to be drying okay.
Packed lunches in fridge so purse will remain shut hopefully.
Love all the posts and glad we have GQ back in her own bunk!January 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

Late one here...
This thread take longer and longer to catch up on, but SO worth it, some fab idea,s.
I had a NSD
I stretched LO lamb into 2 shepherds pies, one for the freezer, added some oats and loads of veg to the minced (chopped up) Lamb.
Also made some fudge to take into work tomorrow (today) - didn,t have any condensed milk, so made some, that not only saved me a quid, but saved me having to buy cakes in the morning to take to work - I forgot to take some in on my Birthday before Xmas, and work friends bought me a lovely scarf and choccies, so I felt guilty.
Fossilized chicken breasts rescued from bottom of the freezer are defrosting as we speak to make a quick actifry curry after work, also chopped and froze a load of bell peppers that we didn,t use over Xmas, so will use some of them in curry.
Thats all for now - will just have a little stroll around the deck before hitting my bunk.Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Hmmm I'm not too sure about that!
I have an 80l box full, a 40l box full, a 3-shelf bookcase full, at least 3 toiletries bags full and some stuff in a cupboard and in use in the bathroom. And it's all solely mine, OH and kids have their own too
Oh and I think I have about 15 or more bottles of perfume. I'm terrible! - NO! I was terrible! A lot of it is stuff I've aspired to try then for the prev yr and a half we had a lot more money than we thought we'd ever have and my collection has spawned from that. Flash forward to after summer when our money has gone back to what it was before that 18months and now, fair enough, I have many years supply but I look at things and think they will have gone to spoil by the time I get to use them! I've parted with many (mainly to the school as prizes for parent council held events) but atm I'm of a ' I wasted my money on it so I'll bl**dy well make sure I use it' frame of mind!
Edited to add: oops I also have one of those big s&g bags (last yrs b00ts star gift?) rammed full and another gift box of stuff too
Maybe you could think about selling some of them on fleabay then that way you won't feel so bad. Especially as most of them will probably go out of date before you get to use them. Just a thought!! You could earn some money!! Might make you feel better about it!!
Beware in future your shipmates will be keeping an eye on you so you don't buy any more!!!!!!!!

Good Luck tomorrow Islandmaid, will be thinking of you.
Also, when you have a chance, how do you make condensed milk?

Early morning on decks as its back to work today.
I am really enjoying reading about everyone's day and hearing all the tips and tricks you use.
It's also interesting that so many people are hooked on the cosmetics/body products. I'm not myself because I am way too lazy by far and couldn't keep up any kind of beauty routine. I do however have a few body and hand creams as they are popular presents. I have put them into one wash bag together and I intend to use them up. I have a friend who loves them so I have put them in with Christmas presents for her in the past.
I do wonder what our desire behind buying these products stems from. Let's face it (no pun intended!) most of them smell the same, do the same job, look the same once out of the container. I wonder if we could even tell the difference in a blind test. So that leaves the packaging and the brand name. Some tubs of body cream and cosmetics are very aesthetically pleasing in their nice shiny tubs and pots. And some names are equally so. Who wouldn't fall for 'vanilla cream delight'? Sounds delicious. Brand names and slogans are probably the real sellers. Beautiful celebrities lying around in beautiful surroundings, with beautiful clothes and beautiful skin breathing and rasping that you're worth it. Wow! Feels very different when you pull it apart doesn't it?
Please be aware I am in no way criticising anyone for buying them. I have plenty of hang ups myself. Just trying to pick apart what we do as a way of helping ourselves to break habits.
I'm off to wash my somewhat greying locks,(I'm attempting to lay off the hair dye for a while) then it's time to climb the rigging to work.
Kind regards and happy sailing

Morning shipmates!
I am hacking like a 50-a-day smoker but determined to get out and at it; Day 5 of the Lurgy, probably a few more days to go. Muscle pains are an interesting anatomical reminder that you do have muscles in some surprising places like your bot.......:rotfl:
Slowdown, I could officially be classified as a Low Maintenance Woman, being a flannel and soap kinda girl. Can't recall when I last wore make-up but I think Thatcher was still in power, to give you an idea. My own toiletry stash is modest; soap, toothpaste, more soap, and an insane amount of cotton buds. I use about 20 a year for cleaning the computer keyboard but they get sold by the tub.
I recall reading years ago about how models much past 18 can't be used for the closeups for cosmetic shots/ skincare shots, because slightly older women (i.e. adults) don't have that flawless skin. Makes you  to think about how barely-more-than-children are used to undermine the self-esteem of adult women and soften us up for the marketeers.
I crease up when looking through fashion mags. Try this; count how many of the models have their jaws hanging down so that their lips are parted 'sexily'. Trouble is, most of them, pretty as they are, have the blandola looks of shop window mannequins and look about as sexy as lumps of plastic. I challenge you to try this and 9 out of 10 are pouting like toddlers - so funny.
Love the idea of watching adverts on TV with the sound off or with the eyes shut. I was on the verge of throwing stuff at the parental set during ad breaks. How nice to be back in my own flat where no TV has ever trod.
Righty, better get my brekkie and then have some more interwebulation and head out to w*rk. Gonna be insane, my call centre has been closed for 10 days and our back up service has been only handling emergencies. I expect that there will be a tsunami of Stuff incoming on our heads today.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Talking of lotions & potions.
I originally also had the "Tesco" mountain of toiletries-which helped with a new kitchen from MFI, and settee's-from somewhere I can't remember now!
There was also some time ago a really good deal with C00p Chemists on line -where shampoo, deodorant etc was really cheap-or it ended up being cheap with online codes.
So I don't go for shinny tubs or persuasive adverts-it's brilliant deals at the time -making me stock pile, and I must admit I love my stock pile!!
It's only the basics, like shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath (not much of that) & deodorant. I find it more expensive to run out then have to buy some in a hurry-than to buy quite a few on a really good deal.
My problem is .........hand cream.......I have about 20 partly used tubs or tubes, and I will (used to) buy hand cream willy nilly....because of the make, the price, the feel of the tester on my hands, the smell....the list goes on.
The stupid thing is that I also have an issue with being slightly excessive and using hand cream like mad for about 2 weeks, then I don't go near it for months.
Like now, my hands are dry and look very "old" and wrinkly -I haven't used any cream on them for weeks.
So for me I will not buy any hand cream in 2015, and I will try and regularly but not excessively use the stock pile.
Have a good day ladies & gents.:j0
