The sun is shining! It is cold, but I am so cheered by the brightness.

Busy day today, as DD, Ds1 and I are all running stalls at a Christmas fair. Hope to declutter some goods and make lots of money.

    Love, hugs, sticks and spoons.

    Morning!

Very chilly here but bright also. I've been and opened the conservatory doors to the outside to let the air circulate.

Was very nice to wake up naturally today without children or alarms :) I have a fun-filled day of cleaning, garden stuff, my friend popping over for a brew, present wrapping, getting the decs down from the loft etc etc.

So, first things first, I've started on the LR. Furniture has been pulled out and cleaned behind, then rearranged to fit the tree in. Floors have been wiped before said tree is installed and much dusting and rehoming gibble has occurred! We look rather tidy. My last job in here is to sort the pile of kiddies DVDs and find where best to put them as usually they are where the tree is going to be - can't be having them climbing the tree to get a film ;)

So I'm sat here with a brew just pondering.

Hope you all have peaceful, productive days xxx

Morning all. Hope everyone is ok. I won't be sharing your NHS stories with DH, for the first time in 20 years he is going to the doctor on Monday and I'm trying to persuade him he'll be in good hands. He has got to a stage where he can hardly walk, but carries on, won't take painkillers because they don't go with all the alcohol. Ho hum......

Anyway, I didn't set an alarm today and guess what? Slept in later than I would have liked. Dogs are walked and I'm helping DD and her BF move house today, so my house looks a tip...nothing where it should be and boxes and bags everywhere.

Right, best crack on before they arrrive, they've gone to get the keys etc.

    Have a great day everyone.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • My grandad passed away yesterday after spending a week in hospital....he only found out about the mass in his lung on the 17th nov so happened really quickly :(. Waiting to find out when funeral is but wth being 250 mile away I don't know if I'll be able to go or not. Hubby has throat infection and youngest was up at 4 so today I'm doing a load of washing and food related clean ups only. Rest of spending under blanket with kindle and have a few phone calls too.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and I'll be joining in next week as have lots to do

So sad to hear of your loss Mummyroy xxx At least he had a good long life and got to see all those grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and didn't suffer for a long time which can only be a blessing. Nothing worse than seeing those you love in pain. Look after yourself and if you can't get to the funeral it doesn't matter.. he is in your heart and memories you can pay your respects from afar. xxxx

My head is horrific, the whole right side of my face is numb but pounding at the same time.. I have the brightness on my laptop set to 0 and its still too bright

Shocking and sad to hear of all the medical 'events'; doubtless individual staff are lovely, caring people but overworked/under-trained/subject to illogical "rules" etc. Just a small medical 'incident' to lighten the day, although I was upset at the time: OH had a serious road accident more than 20 years ago, which involved him losing (among other things) one kidney. And the first solid meal they gave him? Steak and kidney pie. You couldn't make it up. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

-3 on our drive back from friends last night. Heavy frost here though lovely and sunny. OH and I wrote a long list last night of what we hope to achieve this weekend to make the rest of the Christmas period run smoothly. So far I've made the final 2 donations on the Big Give, really pleased that I've managed to get all family gifts doubled and with gift aid. I just need to make little cards giving details of what the charities are for, to give people on Xmas day.

Next task, given the weather, is to start cutting anything in the garden I can spray silver or gold for the flower arrangements/decorations. I know there is lots of ivy with berries/flowers, and some long curly corkscrew hazel twigs. Usually I forget to pick it early and end up with not-quite-dried silver spray smudging everywhere.

And following the cake incident yesterday - I thought it was like chocolate bread pudding but everyone politely said they liked it.

have you ever used tintmyscreen.com, it is a free bit of software that overlays any other document or site you have open, you can choose the colour. A lot of my students are sensitive to white background with black writing and it can help.

  • When reading on my iPad mini I change the background colour from white or it hurts my eyes. Hope head better soon pigpen.

Thanks for the kind words....just hoping the relatives there understand if I can't make it.
