This is exactly the problem0 -
The couple of times I've done the same thing have been when coming out of a well lit multi storey car park late at night. For some reason the car park being bright seems to make me forget to put the lights on.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Anyone know why it changed?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Thats something i always used to check as soon as i got into a car was if i needed lights. Ive got a bit lazy now as my new car has a light sensor and once light levels drop below a certain level the headlights come on automatically.
I nearly got scrubbed last week. I was about to change lanes on a motorway in the dark, doing 70, checked my mirrors, blindspot etc all clear, just before i moved something made me stop. 2 seconds later a black car with no lights comes roaring up past me at at least 90mph. Almost impossible to seeMortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190 -
My new Citroen C4 Picasso has automatic lights that come on when the light is bad.
However, I have never ever driven away any car with no lights on, if required, or indeed, with no seat belt either.
It really is just getting into a set routine when starting and driving off.
A bit like a preflight check in an aircraft. Though much quicker.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
My dashboard is digital and lights up when I turn engine on, it dims when I put lights on.
Ok, the shock has gone now...
I just have to be more careful.0 -
Thats why I like my current car. Come first November move the light switch to dipped and leave it there until March. It doesn't leave the lights on once the key is removed. Parking lights are provided if needed.0

And what we are all missing here, is the most dangerous, as far as visibility of some vehicles, is at dusk, when some lighter colours especially, can 'disappear' in the distance, silvers and greys especially.
So even if its not 'dark, it makes sense to light up.

One of my cars has auto lights too. DH uses it. I turn it off. Ditto auto wipers. It's not exactly hard work to turn them on when you need them! Hate all this American-style lazy driving.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0
