Finally got in to the bank to change up my notes and have potted 12 x £2 coins and 4 in change in the big pot :D

Been to DD's school play today with my mum, DD wouldn't tell us anything about it, we knew she had a line but no idea what songs were being sung or anything, she just kept telling us it was a surprise!
Well we sit down and they come in and shes one of the first on the stage, we are like 'ooo, she's got a beginning bit!' and we wait, they sing a song and we think thats her turn over, but nope shes still on the stage . . . some talking from other children, another song . . shes stil on the stage . . . more talking from other children, another song . . . shes STILL on the stage! Mum starts to mutter 'why hasn't *DD* got a line, she said she had a line' then halfway through suddenly DD starts speaking and she's the main speaker for the second half of the show  for the entire 45 minutes DD was on the stage, she sang all the songs and had a massive speaking part! It was fabulous, mum and I are sat there trying not to cry :rotfl: we even had a baby Jesus and they finished off with 'Away in a manger'

They don't charge for tickets to the shows but ask if possible for a small donation to the next years costumes . . . and yes, DD was also one of the 2 children chosen as a collector . . . and yes she did get a donation of the paper kind out of us :D I have recorded the whole thing on my phone for DH to see as he had to miss it (DS had a medical appointment) I soooooo would have paid for tickets, they were all so gorgeous :o

    Ohhhhhhhhh jakesmum that sounds fab!

Another £3.78p to the pot for me.

Gutted as I had a days overtime booked in today but cancelled as ring gate was getting to me.

I have emptied the bedroom , cleared out furniture and under the bed. 7 hours later and I haven't found my rings and now I have an aggregated bump. Gone to bed in a grump. The boyfriend insists it must be in the car or something but I took them off in bed and put them on the tray weeks ago.

They aren't expensive rings other than the sentiment behind them!

I haven't stopped yo eat anything but the mil is downstairs pffft.

    I don't like Mondays!

Any closer to last year's total Sue-UU ?

The proceeds from my pot will be holiday spends :T

Since my mum died a couple of years ago of lymphoma aged only 63. Instead of an inheritance, my lovely Dad now likes to take the family on holiday. That's me DH and our 2 children and my brother, my sister in law and my 2 nieces. Dad loves to travel but he wouldn't go on his own and needs 8 of us to look after him :rotfl:

It's been a lovely way to create new family memories after all the sad times.

Makes me very excited when something goes in the pot... Will it be spent on a cocktail, or an ice cream or a nice meal?

That's a really nice way of dealing with the loss of your mum. Making memories is one of the most important things we can do and I'm sure your mum would be really happy to know you do this as a family. I know I would be.:)

Oh it was magical, they are only young, mum and I arn't really emotional people, we rarely get teary about things but we we're both sat there sniffing going 'awwwww, they are so lovely!'

TBH we have sat through some horrendous performances with DS, his school put on the most soul destroying 'politically correct, no Christianity here please' abominations I have ever had the misfortune to witness, and charged us parents for the pleasure of 1 1/2 hrs of torture (it was always basically a year 6 performance with the rest of the years traipsed on and off the stage in turn to sing a song!) and then they would charge us for pictures and other carp on the way out (oh and we had to provide all the costumes ;))

DD's school, each class has their own production, there are 8 classes in her year, all doing the same play but each on a different day so you only see your own childs class perform IYSWIM. The tickets were free, the school provide the costumes and it was just a simple story about what makes christmas (last ingredient being baby Jesus :D), was only 45 minutes long but I could have sat there all day and watched those 30+ children sing and pretend to be wise men following a star, sheppards etc. We were quite disappointed that they didn't sell photos of them in their outfits :o Told the receptionist they were missing a golden fund raising opportunity as we would happily have paid! Pics should be in our local paper though so will have to make sure I get one :T

EDIT: OMG so wrapped up in DD's play totally forgot why I came back on! another £2 in the pot from a fb sale :j :j

£1.10 potted for me today. 1p of that was from DH he was so proud of himself as he found it in the car park at tesc*. I told him it's called roadkill but he says that just reminds him of dead animals so he's calling it "lucky pennies" MEN !!!!
jakes-mum your little one sounds so adorable. I remember when mine were that age, I really miss it especially at this time of year.
hickles don't give up hope there's still a chance they might turn up especially if someone develops a conscience. Take care of yourself
