I'd like to join this if possible please
I've just sellotape a pot and am ready for the challenge! I had £20 worth of copper from an old jar so I'm going to add that to the pot to get me started! Can I set a challenge of £500 please? Thanks!

Hey Evo5819....Welcome to our Madhouse
Our wonderful Leader Sue will be along shortly to give you your very own sparkly brand new Number....just make sure you pop it on your Sig...although I see you're all ready for that already
Do make sure you look at the first page for the do's and don'ts...and then all you have to do is start Potting and do come back and let us know how you're getting on....We're all very friendly here and love to hear the news....
Sounds like you've gotten off to a GREAT start...Keep up the momentum xXx0 -
Hi DreamerHelen!
Thanks for the nice welcome! Being a 24 year old guy who is partial to a (expensive ) night out on the weekends...this isn't going to be easy haha! I'm determined though! Got a night out this saturday but only to the local pub. What would usually be a 70-80 pound night I'm only going to take 20 pounds with me and then pot some of the excess to get that figure up!
Looking forward to opening day! :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge No - 492

You're welcome Evo
it's good to have you here....
Hmmmm, it's been quite a few years since I went out drinking....but would it be possible to have every other drink as a glass of free water? That way you stay a bit more sober and hopefully won't spend as much
Opening Day and the couple of Weeks that follow are always a bit crazy around here....but VERY good fun....And I think we all look forward to opening our Pots and seeing what's in them...Some people keep a track down to the very penny of what is in their Pots and some don't....I keep a track of the Notes that are in my Pot but apart from that I don't keep a track of any coins that I Pot so it's always a surprise of what is in there...
If you have any questions please let us know xXx0 -
The water idea sounds good! Going to give that one a try!
I like the idea of keeping track of the notes in the pot. After all, you never know when an emergency might come up and you might have to dip in. I think I'm going to go for total surprise though...hopefully I can smash my target or even if I get somewhere near it I'll be proud. Most I've ever managed to save is £100 and that got spent soon after
I've joined two challenges...this one and the £1000 emergency fund one. think thats enough for now. Don't want to throw myself in the deep end too much :rotfl:Sealed Pot Challenge No - 492

You'll get there Evo....The great thing about this Challenge is that because you don't know how much is in there then you're less tempted to go and spend it...if that makes sense...I always find that if I look at a Savings Account and think "Oh there's £200 in it" then I'm aware it's there and am more tempted to spend it....Whereas with my Pot I don't really know how much is in there and so I just leave it until November....
Also, I used to borrow to pay for Christmas but over the last few Christmas's I haven't had to do that and that is solely thanks to this Challenge...0 -
Evening all.
evo5819 - welcome and good luck with your savings. Nice target.
ModestyB - 42 years of "bliss" - congratulations. I'm hoping to celebrate 20 years of "bliss" soon, not too bad for 34 years of marriage - more than 50%. lol
Potted 2 x £2 coins and 3 x £1 coins after a couple of small shops. £7 potted.
That's me back in control and swimming with the tide again. £7 needed for the week now.

Thanks Lynsey!
Do you set yourself weekly goals then? I'm just going to stick to shoving spare change etc in there as if I set myself a weekly target, I'll just stress about it if I don't hit it haha!Sealed Pot Challenge No - 492

I'm only setting a weekly target for 4 weeks. 4 weeks x £30 = £120.
My initial annual target was £600 - £500 for Xmas and £100 for a "treat". I met that easier than thought, so pushed the target up to £1000. To rid myself of the "stress" (as you put it), I set the 4 week target, which will get me to £800.
£200 will be left to find in approx 15 weeks, though I'll lose a week for a holiday booked. That should be easily achievable.
Having an odd target now and again can push you and provides motivation. I might have 2 more targets before November, perhaps 2 x £25 weeks, 1 in Sept and 1 in Oct.
I'm a "counter", I like to set a target to aim at and need to keep count to ensure I don't fail.
But we all have our own ways, find what's best for yourself.
