  • Hey everyone!

I had begun saving in a sealed pot earlier this month myself so would love to join the challenge please!

I'm aiming to save around £500. I've got around £15 in there so far I think...

I also started doing Christmas Club savings this year, paying £25 a month.

I also have a holiday pot - unsure if this is to be counted as well! But that will be opened in August to help with spending money. :)

I take part in experiments at the local universities, and they won't make you millions, but you make around £6 per hour you take part. And a spare hour here and there is better spent making money than not making any at all! I find it quite a good way of making a little extra and they are open to the public. I'm not a student there. :) Hope these are allowed for SPC?

I'm excited to join the challenge! :j

  • Didn't pot anything the last 2 days. Been sick for about 3 days and actually lost £18 in a misdiagnosis by a doctor. I had to pay for the prescription yesterday after a doctor in the walk-in clinic, simply misdiagnosed my problem. She advised me to go my GP today for a swab to find the cause of the problem and here I found out I shouldn't have been given the medicine as it would not have any effect. So forked out another £10 for the new medicine/antibiotics and I am fuming now. Pre MSE times I wouldn't even make a fuss over this amount, now that I am looking after the pennies, it is annoying me terribly.

But then again, looking at the agony of Lynne waiting for news and AlwaysHappy losing her mother, it actually seems petty after all.

    Hugs to you both.

  • My Operation has finally been scheduled for Thursday 22nd January....And I'm already nervous, but I know it has to be done....

Helen, i'm scheduled to give blood on the 22nd. I think donating blood (if you're able) is extremely important. It only takes about an hour from walking in to leaving (depending on how busy) and you can only go 3 (women) or 4 (men) times a year!

I went to the cash machine yesterday to draw out money and it chugged and rattled, gave me back my card but didn't spit out any cash. Checked my bank today and the money has been charged. I rang the number on the machine today but there is nobody in until Monday. My bank said to wait and they will raise an ATM dispute if necessary. I hope it isn't and the money comes back in when the cash machine is balanced up.

Lynnejk I really hope you get news from your son soon. I can't imagine how you're feeling but no news is often good news so stay positive.

Always Happy My heart really goes out to you. Stay strong. Your mum sounds like a wonderful woman x

Gosh! I have finally caught up with the thread. That took some doing haha!!

I have been potting when i have change to spare but i have been mainly working on clearing debts. I have £488.86 left to pay of my loan (£5,866.32 after interest), £292.38 of that i already have put away ready to go in, I should be getting £33.62 back from the bank (some crazy way of doing a price comparison) and £100 from my sister (she gives me £50 a month towards money i loaned her) which leaves me with £62.86 to find then my loan is all paid off and i can concentrate on my CC. WOW, I actually only just worked that out and i'm even shocked myself!!! I get paid tomorrow too so i should be able to put that money away, might do £100 just in case anything goes wrong with my calculations... so excited!!!!!!!

I am trying this year to make as many of my work lunches as i can and not going out buying them. So far this year i haven't bought any :D I'm very proud of myself.

£7.30 has just been put aside to go in my pot tonight. There will be more when i'm finally paid tomorrow.

  • Hello all,

just a quick question...I have just emptied my money box with £2 coins in (couldn't fit any more in!) Can this go towards my Challenge total for the year, even though they have been saved over a long period of time?

    Thanks :)
