  • Another £10.68 paid in (collected a bag of 20 pence pieces), so I'm now;

    #163: £278.81/£2500
  • So almost the end of February and spring just around the corner. I got paid today but I am not putting in my second tranche of investment savings into my portfolio until hubby gets paid on Friday. I am a bit worried about his pay this month as he got a new company car in December and the taxman has been adjusting his tax codes, on to the third one now and they say he has been underpaying so not sure how much tax they will take this month. His overtime is also a little bit up and down at the moment so very difficult to predict his salary. We aim to save £1000 per month and already put £500 away so half way there for February.

    Thanks for the advice, you seem to be doing well. What age are you if you don't mind me asking?

    It's funny you say that as there is a 3 bed semi across the road from my mum and dads house for sale and my dad said the exact same as you. He says I should try and buy it and then rent out a room to a friend or a female of the same age (because they are stereotypically tidier than males :o). The third room is a tad small so could be used as a home gym or something. I warmed to the idea but a deposit would be the problem. They offered to lend me money but I hate the idea of owning my parents a vast some of money.

    I am 28, Ill be 29 in March. You can post your present ;-) Although the perception is that I might be doing well, I always want to do better – it is a weakness and a strength because I never feel satisfied.

    That house seems like a good opportunity, have you thought about living in the small room for a time and renting the other two rooms? Doubling your rent… I know it’s a pain in the short term, but when I was 22, I would have had a smaller room for an extra X a month… and you can put that money towards your next place… if that’s what you are planning to do.

    Is property what you want to do?

    Its okay borrowing money from family from my experience, as long as you treat it as a third party business transaction and keep to it on those terms and having the terms in writing upfront… that’s key to not souring the relationship or making one party not feel they are getting taken advantage off.
    My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

    48.78% towards 2015 target.

    105.3% towards 2014 target. :j
