I am 28, Ill be 29 in March. You can post your present ;-) Although the perception is that I might be doing well, I always want to do better – it is a weakness and a strength because I never feel satisfied.
That house seems like a good opportunity, have you thought about living in the small room for a time and renting the other two rooms? Doubling your rent… I know it’s a pain in the short term, but when I was 22, I would have had a smaller room for an extra X a month… and you can put that money towards your next place… if that’s what you are planning to do.
Is property what you want to do?
Its okay borrowing money from family from my experience, as long as you treat it as a third party business transaction and keep to it on those terms and having the terms in writing upfront… that’s key to not souring the relationship or making one party not feel they are getting taken advantage off.
I think it will be a tough ask, I would never get accepted to buy it anyways. If I did and had the opportunity to rent out both rooms then of course! More money for me to use elsewhere. I think so, maybe further down the line though. More focussed on saving up funds to kickstart all of these opportunities.
Yeah I could but preferably wouldn't as my parents are looking to invest their money themselves to secure them a decent future. It's all early doors just now I just wanna get saving. I've thought about a weekend job, but I work hard enough as it is and can sometimes work weekends with my regular job.Goal is to Retire before I'm 40 (currently 30yo)0 -

Hmm will send my update once again via "easy update form" as it looks like what I sent few days ago didn't have any impact on spreadsheet
1.000 for February for me0 -
I have just updated for February so another £1000 for me :T
OH got paid today and although I have not analysed his payslip yet I don't think the new tax code has yet kicked in as it was more than I expected so either he did loads of overtime which is very difficult to predict due to fact he works some weekends as well or the tax reduction for the new car is not as much as feared.
Anyway longshot is total income for month according to my spending tracker app is £3964, total spending is £1479, £1028 has been invested/saved and the remaining £1457 has been left in our Santander 123 account to go towards new conservatory blinds. From the age of 21- 26 I had an eventful life but did my best to save… what I find these early years taught me was how difficult money is to earn and save… and how easy it is to spend and not have. I think the fact you’re a conscientious person, who at the age of 22 has an idea what you want in life puts you miles a head of anyone else… and the general direction your heading is building blocks towards your personal dreams.
Incidentally the company that I have just left just paid me a nice chunk of money (3.85k cash, 500 to my pension and 400 off my student loan). So this months reporting figures should be good, especially as I should get paid from my new job too!My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.
48.78% towards 2015 target.
105.3% towards 2014 target. :j0 -
Hi SF, can I change my target please. I really have no real idea how much we can save this year since we are living off OHs wage only now. But since I am almost at my first target could I try for £8000 by the end of the year. I will review this as the year goes on. Thanks.0

Today is Payday and I have put away £675 out of my income for the month of March and would be updating the spreadsheet shortly.£47605.33 outstanding in C.C (£8000 Interest free till January 2025)0

Despite starting to book up hotels for our honeymoon I've managed to declare £2,120 for February, thanks largely to a sales bonus from work. This means that I'm well on course to hit my target by April (chose April so I can maximise what goes into S&S ISA before the deadline).
At that point I'm going to review what we have left to pay for the wedding and honeymoon and deduct this from my savings total before giving myself a new target for the rest of the year. I'd love to be really ambitious and get to £28k by the end of December.0
