i just put away £3,000 for October. I am not sure that I will achieve my goal for the year, but it was very ambitious. Still, Im happy to keep plodding along! I hope everyone is doing well, and as always, it is an inspiration to se how well everyone is doing!

Sorry for the really late September update. I..er...accidentally booked a holiday for October half term. Net result of -£748.50 from the savings.

However we have had an endowment pay out this month so my next update will easily cover the shortfall.

Have rounded up some balances so I'm declaring £475.04 for September, bringing the total to a nice even £4000 so far!

Very happy with that but need £2k in 3 months to hit target which I think might be pushing it a bit!!

Late declaration for September - during that month I saved £3,108.34 - I would actually have said that wasn't possible, but I had a very frugal month, no bills to speak of other than the usual direct debits, and have flogged off a fair bit of stuff on eBay and Amazon. It just goes to show!

Just bought a car which has made a substantial dent in my savings. A necessity though as I have a 2 seater convertible at the moment and as our daughter has just had our first grandchild these are not compatible. My daughter had a c section and cannot drive at the moment so when her husband goes back to work I want to be able to help her our with chauffeuring duties. I was planning to change my car in anyway next year as I will be looking after my granddaughter a few days a week so it is being done sooner rather than later.

It is a dilemma though to know what to do about my savings for this year as technically the money for the car has come from a part exchange of my convertible and savings in a matured isa and old matured national savings certificates from previous years. All my savings this year are in the Vanguard LS 60 and Santander 123 account which are untouched.

    What does everyone think?
