  • Yay, well done everyone and thank you to SF!

I wasn't going to update this month as I've met my target, but it seems tucking money into my ISA has become habit and I just had to squirrel away £150. I'll submit an update form soon but need to be more disciplined about things next month as I'm not sure what my pay will be as I'm only 4 days into my new job!

    Well done again!

£770 declared for September. A good month of very careful spending means I should now be in a position to pay into all but 1 of my regular savers on the 1st of the month again (maximising interest!).

Pay rise has kicked in at work but resulting additional pension contributions and student loan repayments mean it's not a huge difference to take home pay (about £80/month). Keep reminding myself it's still a positive increase. Look forward to the day the student loan has gone as I'm currently losing £170/month to repayments.

Also trying not to look at S&S ISA too closely with the current corrections. Kicking myself that I'm not in a position to put more in until one of my regular savers matures in November and the other in December.

Well done on everyone that's contributed to the £1,000,000! Nice to see Martin on the thread too :money:

Hello all, Number 207 reporting £1553.00 for September. Not bad as we had a week on the boat last week. I'll have to see what that puts me up to (I've done the update but didn't do the arithmetic).

Had an odd thing happen this morning. I checked my bank balance to see what I could transfer to savings and my salary wasn't showing. Asked a colleague to do the same in case it was just me, but it wasn't. Thought to myself "must give the accountant a call" just as he phoned me, really disheartened, he'd forgotten to authorise the whole wage bill! Still, it's not the end of the world. Instead of going in yesterday, they went in this morning, but I had to ring some of the folks (newbies to the company and the odd one I know has immediate transfers to other accounts) to let them know what's happening.

Cheers everyone, have a lovely weekend!

Afternoon all, number 041 reporting £779.54 for September which I'm pretty happy with! However there were some big credit card purchases (I'm looking at you, car insurance) which will come out in October so there'll be little or nothing left for savings. I may even <horror> have to dip into the savings, but I'll do my best to avoid that! I've had a bit of a clearout at my parents' house and put a few bits on ebay so fingers crossed for some luck there. Oh and some friends owe me for gig tickets so that should help too.

And well done everyone for saving over £1m! Virtual high fives and fist bumps all round.
  • I have just filled out my update form for September as OH and I got paid yesterday and hopefully no more large purchases this month although I still have some left in my reserve account. I use my reserve to pay for large items of expenditure like replacement white goods, gifts to our two daughters, car expenditure and holidays. As we have just returned from Crete, our elder daughter passed her PhD and our younger daughter presented us with our first granddaughter last Thursday, my car had its mot on Monday and the dishwasher broke down this has been a spendy month to say the least.

I have just filled out my budget for September and we have gifted £750, spent £400 on a new dishwasher and £1500 on holidays this is the second month this year we have needed to dip into the reserve but there is still £1268 left in the reserve after saving my usual £1000 between a regular isa saver and a Stocks and Shares isa.

Only three months left of 2015 so almost up to the £12k. Congratulations everyone on reaching the £1million mark.

£2420.50 for September, so just under £23k in total and the £24k target should be hit on payday early next month. I've also saved just under £6k towards a replacement car this year (not tracked in the challenge as it's money I plan to spend) so overall the £30k should come up at the same time - a nice amount, as it's more than my entire take-home pay from a couple of years ago. Salary's up a bit since then, but it's long been our goal to save 50% of our income and we're nearly there now.

Well done all on the million, great to see that milestone hit :D
  • Woo-hoo a million!!! Go us.
I'm reporting a massive £2500 for September after cutting my spending to the bone and some serious overtime. All the overtime will be coming to an end in a few weeks so sadly I won't be able to keep it up.
